  1. Or maybe have the towing shuttle stop and position your CC infront of it by a fair distance before having the tractor release. Talk about one large-scale game of 'catch'...
  2. Check the tips and tactics or newbie forums here...it's somewhere in one of those two.
  3. I also remember hearing about improved situational awareness and ECM abilities when you have a back-seat on a fighter. Or is it better SA and the simple fact the fighter even -can- use ECM with a back-seat. Cant remember which.
  4. I'm thinking it's four defined decks, each with multiple sublevels. These ships dont look like they're only four decks tall by normal definitions.
  5. I probably shouldnt talk, just been in the Air Force 2 years, and aint got no real war stories to tell... Besides the localizer (Half an ILS set) that got taken away by a tornado..nothing left but the concrete pads... And the guy that had a heart attack on the access road, came through two VIDS fences, under an AWACS, and came to a rest next to our RVR set... I swear, all the fun stuff on the base and I was only indirectly involved, let alone responsible.. (although it is fun to write off a quarter million dollars of ILS gear as simply...missing)
  6. I would just like to say, that the Reno up there, and -this- Reno, are two seperate persons. Just clearing that up.
  7. When they get fatigued enough they will take themselves offduty to take a nap, or play ping pong, or something. Same with hunger. When they get hungry enough they'll raid the galley on their own.
  8. Eh, why the hell not... I'm 22 years old. I'm a Met-Nav technician for the Air Force. I'm living in central Oklahoma (and I mean -central-) I'm single, and the closest thing to a kid I have is this white dragon thing sitting on the floor. My hobbies are video games, paintball, aviation, simulations of all sorts, and paintball.
  9. My most prized possesion? A 5-foot long plush toy of a white Pernese dragon named Ruth. A friend of mine made it for me, and me being the PERN fan I am, I cant get rid of it
  10. 4 - Baseball 10 - I only know two of the other six. One is if the pitcher throws the damned ball into the ground. Forget what it's called though. The other is if the ball hits -you-
  11. I bet if you stood on top of an STO silo and said things about the crew's momas, you'd leave the planet -real- fast.... But in all seriousness, no, crunchies cant leave the planet's they're assigned to.
  12. Not true. Just like the real world, missile tracking systems in this game have a 'burn through' range. Missiles still work on EMD emitting ships, you just need to be closer. I have yet to find an AI that knows this fact, as they just fire the buggers when in range...though that's likely due to the higher AI enemies cloaking instead of trying to get in close for a missile duel. Sneaky bastages.
  13. Nope. Cant pack gunships away either. And it aint likely to be added unless we can find some combination of drugs that makes Derek both suggestable -and- able to code to some extent. Er, I mean...
  14. If only it were possible to swap out all the OCs on my Generis with ATVs... But nope. Only support crafts issued to your ship can be used by it.
  15. Safedisc is notorious for false alarms as far as thinking it see's emulators. I know X2 and UC get me for it every so often. Try disabling your antivirus software if you have any. For some reason, it sets off a false alarm on me sometimes if I dont. Other than that just deal with it, as there really isnt much else you can do.
  16. Quick! Someone use playmod and RANDOM the sunnofab**ch!
  17. Just a little more insight about shuttles and adverse atmospheres. It's my opinion that those rugged little shuttles are purpose built to take the worst possible places you can send them. Ever try taking a tour of jupiter? Your CC would be squishyfied like a tin can, but your shuttle just cruises along happy. Also, though I've never tried landing OC's on Obsidian before, it is worth noting that the ATV at least is capable of driving along the bottom of any ocean you drop it in. So if it can take the pressure of a guided tour of the Marianes Trench, I think Obsidian shouldnt be a problem.
  18. I'm pretty sure CCs are the only things that can equip artifacts (unless SC drasticly changed something). So, either that Raven was really lucky...or Resnig decided to be gunnery officer for the day.
  19. Well, there -is- light that gets down that deep in the ocean...it's just not in the visable spectrum. I think evertything on the UV side down disperses the farther you go (hense the water being blue in appearance), with only light on the IR side surviving down there. So, maybe solar reactors in UC can use more than just visable spectrum light...or maybe I need to stop drinking the water on base.
  20. Ok, so I never look at thread dates when I post. Please refer to my sig for how I feel on the matter
  21. In the early game, your ships engine is a real radine hog, and I believe your shields are too. Actually, all the beginning kit on your ship is rather hungry...just try to upgrade as soon as you can.
  22. First off, Rob, you need to go and stick your system specs in your sig. People here get vewy vewy trigger happy when people dont do that. There's a thread around here somewheres that tells you how...but I just woke up, and the coffee is still coffee'ing, so I cant remember where it is
  23. Red X there, Tac...but I'm thinking its the one with the squirrel and the bazooka, right? That pic seems to have invaded the base here (Add Propaganda to Ender's list up there...damned furry spawn of satan...)
  24. If you find yourself pricing a 'deuce n'a half' so you can have your very own OC parked in your driveway (or in my case, out in the dorm parking lot)
  25. For cruisers I take either the Questar or the Warrior. The Questar fits the roll of 'glass dragon'; it has a mean set of teath, but it cant take the hits too well (as mentioned). The Warrior is a hit and fade 'Hyena Raid' specialist. Fastest jump and recovery times of ANY military CC, bar none. It also has a decent armament ontop of that. Great pirate craft, as you can rest assured you'll get to those transports before they hit the jump points. For carriers, I like the Nightstar on the heavy side, and the Firestorm for the super side. The Nightstar...just because I like its looks And the Firestorm because it's just plain MEAN. Good main guns, excellent PTA coverage...and the real reason I love it is the HUGE ground vehicle complement. The perfect Marine carrier, for when you want to blitz the hell out of some poor sod's surface installation.
