  1. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Throw some Elder Scrolls in the mix. Greatest roleplaying game ever. Nuff' said!
  2. Absolutely insane. Self serving sons of.... I held my mad back though in my email to him: quote: If your actually reading this instead of some crony then kudos to you for that only. Video games, like any media will have an effect on people, including children. Duh. Video games DO NOT MAKE PEOPLE DO THINGS!!! Mcdonalds DOES NOT MAKE PEOPLE FAT!!! Guns DO NOT KILL PEOPLE!!! If you are an attorney then you obviously have some intelligence. An intelligent person looking at the issues above would conclude that the point of attack should be the people making the bad decisions, or the people who are supposed to be rearing them. Despite this you send your long winded, meandering diatribe(yes, that is all it really is, sorry) to game publishers. This was not an intelligent action within the context of the issue you were referring to. Now, since you are intelligent, and you spent way too much effort saying the game manufacturers and/or the head of the ESA are the truly responsible parties for youth violence in America, which I have already proven to be patently unintelligent, then there must be some other reason for your actions. It is obvious based upon these observations that you're trying to curry favor with Senator Clinton. Just doing it to get a leg up. If this is true(almost certainly is), then you are doing something intelligent. Trouble is that you are also being dishonest and trying to do harm to others with this dishonesty. Brother, if you wish to get ahead then work hard, stick to principles and sleep at night. Don't engage in self serving rhetoric, particularly things like your pointlessly acidic letter. If you truly wish to protect children from innappropriate content then engage your resources at the place where they can do the most good as stated above. If you act contrary to this then you will be wasting effort instead of doing good, and I do believe that there is part of you (as there is in all of us) that does wish to do the right thing. Let that part out again. Eric W. Holznagel Crap, sometimes I think that we need another great flood. Just wipe it out and try again. Then I realize that I wouldn't be able to play UC anymore.
  3. Yeah, I don't know if it is dirty economics and vendors trying to keep their lucrative contracts going or if it is politics. I am getting sick and tired of talking heads that say we need to feed the children first instead of increasing NASAs budget or pushing the exploration of space in other ways (private investment is probably the way things will go). Man is intellectual and must explore and expand his sphere of influence. Particularly in the face of rampant human expansion on this planet. As of right now we are using up resources at a faster rate than the planet can renew them and I must admit that I am not confidant that this trend will reverse. Next solution, find some safety valve in the form of other locations to live. Yes I understand that this is not an instant fix but combined with other strategies might save our mother planet from becoming a used up husk with a few grubby mammals eking out bare subsistence. I say our country should do two things: 1. Double NASAs budget for the short term. Their mission should be exploration and help to shape the bureaucracy that will control the space ways. 2. Devise regulations to allow private investment in space exploration and the developement of a new economic segment of our society. Bottom line is that we must go into space and we must do it more effectively and the shuttle, while an admirable workhorse and historic spacefaring platform, is definitely tired and past its useful prime. It's time to move closer to real Battlecruiser shizzle.
  4. Good God Almighty!! All that I have done so far is just fly around in instant action for a bit but my first impression is definitely self evident. LIQUID SMOOTH WITH LIGHTNING RESPONSE! This is gonna be great! Monster indeed Spin. Lemme see.....UCAWA, Falcon 4.0:AF, and Grand Prix 4 or F1 Challenge 1999-2002. Put me on a desert island (with a broadband connection of course ), and then stick a fork in me cuz I'd be done! Oh yeah, I'd need hardware upgrades air dropped to me as new versions of these great sims came out.
  5. Wow. At the risk of sounding just like a fanboy, that was an interview displaying a puissant expression of ideology that is not seen often enough. Well met. Since I can't tell you that eye to eye SC, you will probably have some doubt about my sincerity but I calls em' as I sees em'. Oh yeah, if this next is off topic, slap me down. UCAWA will be available for download about.....?
  6. Just ordered it. Had no idea it was even on the way. I've been out of touch for awhile. Thanks for the info SC.
  7. Will do Shingen. I enjoyed the Death Merchants. It would be nice to see the story culminate.
  8. I used to be a fanboy for SEGA. Ahh, the glorious 16-bit days when I simply could not afford a computer but I could get a console that had "true arcade graphics". Rock on! I have no animosity towards Adam. Parochial perhaps, I think that he was simply addressing an issue he had not before, just as he said. In fact, I was very amused. Mayhap I recognized the fanboy in me: quote: Perhaps the most clever thing you as fanboys can do is to come up with derogatory names for competing consoles, such as Xbrick instead of Xbox or FlopStation 2 instead of PlayStation 2. On message boards, the best way to convey your point is to write in all caps, ignore the rules of grammar, and include lots of "LMAO's" and "LOLs" in your post. Fanboy Quote: "yeah I'l tell you bro that the PLAYSTATION crushes THE SPANKTENDO SUXTY FOUR squeezes it into a little ball and shoots it into freakin space man!!!! LOL, LMAO, ROFL. Anyway, it was fun to read.
  9. I got this in an email. It's so tounge in cheek it will leave a mark. It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive, and there's nothing worse than an over-sensitive woman. My name is Ron......Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Julie. When I took "early retirement" last year, it became necessary for Julie to get a full-time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I usually get home from the golf course about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at the club so eating dinner out is not a reasonable solution. I'm ready for some home cooked grub when I hit that door. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now, it's not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she appreciates this,as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed. I really think my experience as a teacher helps a lot. I consider "telling people what they ought to do" to be one of my strong points. Now that she has gotten older, she does seem to get tired so much more quickly. Our washer and dryer are in the basement. Some-times she says she just can't make another trip down those steps. I don''t make a big issue of this; as long as she finishes up the laundry the next evening, I'm willing to overlook it. Not only that, but unless I need something ironed to wear to the Monday lodge meeting, or to Wednesday's or Saturday's poker club, or to Tuesday's or Thursday's bowling, or something like that, I will tell her to wait until the next evening to do the ironing. This gives her a little more time to do some of those odds and ends like shampooing the dog, vacuuming or dusting. Also, if I've had a really good day on the course and it was wet and muddy, my clubs are a mess, so I let her clean them, you know...get the grit off the grips and a little light Brillo on the club faces at a casual pace. My golf bag is heavy so I lift it out of the trunk for her. Women are delicate, have weak wrists and can't lift heavy stuff as good as men. But, I did tell her I don't like to be awakened during my after-golf nap, so rather than bother me, she can put them back in the trunk when she's finished. Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example, she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour. But, boys, we take 'em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way, she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't hurt her any (if you know what I mean). I like to think tact is one of my strong points. When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She had to take a break when she was only half finished mowing the yard. I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for awhile. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me, too, and then take her break by my hammock. That way, she can talk with me until I fall asleep. I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Julie. I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help each other. Signed, Ron EDITOR'S NOTE: Ron died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 3. He was found with a Calloway extra long 50-inch Big Bertha Driver II rammed up his butt, with only 2 inches of grip showing. His wife, Julie, was arrested, but the all-woman Grand Jury accepted her defense that he accidentally sat on it, and she was released on Friday, Feb 4.
  10. Roger understand.....code change ordered. Out.
  11. Unbelievable!! If that ever happens in this country then the next American Revolution starts at my place. Some might want to call it the next Civil War but if there are any gomers who think passing laws like that is ok then they're not actually people and should be put out of their and our misery. Makes me not want to get up in the morning sometimes. *sigh*
  12. When you sit for FIVE MINUTES scratching your head, wondering why the hell your dead pilots won't start the cloning process. Then your eyes wander towards the lower right corner and FINALLY register the nondescript grey letters forming the phrase: "Medical officer is unavailable". Then you spend another TWENTY MINUTES before you activate your Tactical computer and discover the Medical officer is off duty.
  13. Damn, Shingen. All that time wasted instead of blowing crap up. Are you kiddin' me? Gee, in a way your both right. Mebbe we can have some peace and quiet now that that's figured out.......NAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
  14. Always looking out for your vision. Damn, gotta get me one of those vision things. Get me a purpose.
  15. No sweat brother. Boy, you and SC go some rounds huh? Sorry, kind of a n00b comment. I'm still getting familiar with the movers and shakers here. I'll read up on The Death Merchants and see some more of your style. May have a question or two down the road.
  16. I'll think on it for awhile and get some ideas rolling. I've never really boned up on exact race and caste affiliations or politics. Time to read up on the background a little more thoroughly. I've been quiet for a long time as it takes that for me to get comfortable. Once I start to roll though, Katy bar the door!
  17. Forgive a n00b butting in but it seems to me that this whole discussion between SC and Shingen is simply both of them defining persistence from two perspectives: the gamer, and the progammer. Just my two cents.
  18. I was checking things out and discovered that teamspeak is now here.
  19. Nice. Product end of life announced and you still can't resist releasing patches. Yer an animal SC!!!
  20. Actually to be more accurate I have asked to collaborate with another member. Perhaps there will be a dynamic literary duo. Who knows. If nothing comes of it then I will certainly start my own thread.
  21. I'm hoping so, as my PM to you indicates.
  22. If you are actually still around and active, then please fix your sig. Also, I think I will start my own thread and show everyone a thing or two about writing.
  23. Spectacular!!!!!!!
  24. quote: GamersInfo.net:Some of the articles on the prior games comment that the UI is cumbersome and a steep learning curve for the game. Has this been addressed in the sequel? Derek Smart: That's just inaccurate. Like any game, you have to learn how to play it. Most of those people saying that the interface is cumbersome are those who have never played the game and are just echoing what others have said. I mean, what is cumbersome about point and click? The entire game is mouse driven. The manual is one of the most extensive and comprehensive in the industry. The interface is laid out in such a way that a blind mouse could find his way around. In fact, the interface is no more cumbersome than any traditional RTS or MMO game. Sure, like any new game, the interface can be a little challenging at first. But believe me, once you get into it and more involved in the game, you learn to work with the controls and understand its functions. Eventually it becomes second nature! I suppose that if these gaming "journalists" don't get it by now, they never will. C'mon kids, this is a simulator!!! It's supposed to have a steep learning curve. That's part of the siren song of the BC series. Oh well SC, do what you have to do to get some press coverage even if you have to answer the same brainless question over and over.
