Agreed! The rebels' noble cause is cheapened by the senseless slaughter cauesed by the terrorists in my estimation.

Hey Asso, welcome to the discussion. In your assertion in that both Chechens and Russians are wrong, do you mean the Chechen Rebels or the Chechen terrorists? There is a BIG difference. I personally think Russia had every right to ban ABC, since giving this murderer camera time is akin to aiding and abetting the enemy.

Hey Ben, as our fearless leader you are going to buy us all a copy of AWA, right?

Wow. I'm surprised ANYONE was willing to touch This topic Well, Spielberg's political leanings are pretty much known, but that hasn't gotten in the way of his doing some really quality work, so I am looking forward to it.

Hah-hah! Good one Silk! You had me going there for a minute... Wait... you were serious ? You really DID like it? What is happening to the world today?

Can you plagiarize in a forum thread? I think it was obvious he was quoting, or at least I thought it was... It's the relevancy of the excerpt to the topic, and how it exquisitely encapsulates the viewpoint, that I found amazing. He is rather poetic... I can't speak for Soback, but I do not consider your pov "illegitimate" as you put it. If it is yours, it IS legitimate. Whether it is based on objective reasoning or subjective experience is another matter.

Stargate SG-1: The Alliance
John Prezioso replied to Captain McMahon's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
They had a pretty significant presence at E3 with SG-1, and even hired that Macguyver dude to show up and plug the game - now they cancel it? What gives? -

I continue to be in awe of you Soback. There is nothing left to say after that. Sublime!

Hey, I came across This AWESOME link , and I figured I'd post it. If anyone else here is a guitar player, I know you will really appreciate it. Amazing!

quote:If he is, the he's crazier than I am. As if I haven't spent enough money on servers - for a $19.99 game - already since the game was first released. On Monday, the UC servers are going offline. When UCG is released in Sept. there will be only one server for it. Sounds more than fair to me.

On this we agree completely, Nomad. I was a submariner, and I imagine how those poor lost souls aboard the Kursk must have suffered at the end - all because of Russia's pride. There is no way to know whether all of those men (I call them shipmates) would have been rescued even with the help of other nations, but for crying out loud, they weren't even given a chance.

I agree Cruis. in. It is not so victimless, imo. But again, the war on drugs is a failure. Better to do nothing than to continue down this path.

14 Marines Killed in Iraq as President Bush Vacations
John Prezioso replied to a topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
I am not a Bush supporter - I am an America supporter. But I am not going to sit here and listen to someone bad-mouth a guy for taking a vacation when he has the toughest job in the world. Just because he is not in Iraq, his job is not tough? How would you feel if a decision you made, and decisions you make every day, while you truly believed was right, has resulted in the deaths of so many? Could you lightly make such profound decisions? No matter what he does SOMEONE will absolutely rape him for how stupid he is, how inept he is, how evil he is, yadda, yadda, yadda. Believe what you want, but I will not be drawn into a debate over such nonsense. Later. -

It's always SO easy to criticize. Actually DOING something is always much more difficult...and usually left to the less cynical and bitter, and more rational people. -
The political agenda is implied in the beginning, before the terrorist ring descends into its orgasmic orgy of violence, where only pain and suffering is what they seek.

14 Marines Killed in Iraq as President Bush Vacations

I would think a job of the magnitude and stress like President would require more vacation than, say, a web designer. The pressure must be incredible. -

Yeah -I forgot about that one. Not practical for long road recon and travel, though. The insurgent made road-side bombs are ingeniusly shaped and cleverly camoflouged and are capable of higher yields than mines- not much ANY vehicle not a MBT or specifically designed as the Caspir can do to survive a detonation directly underneath - the least armored part of a vehicle, with exception of maybe the top. -

Nomad - show me a modern-day APC that can withstand a 100-lb explosive detonation to its underside. -

Not touching this one - SOMEONE will end up banned... -
quote:Talking on a cell phone can be said to endanger other drivers on the road needlessly. Smoking a joint in your back yard cannot. Silk - Bear in mind, I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I don't think you recognized the parallel I was trying to draw. Talking on a cell phone in your back yard is not hazardous either. The trouble is, smoking pot and driving can be. It's the historical dispaly of rotten judgement on the part of society that is the common thread.

That was the Kursk. What a tragedy. Here's hoping for a happier ending.

Another issue I liken to the drug issue is cell phones. In New York, the government made it illegal to talk and drive at the same time. An encroachment on civil liberties, right? Well, SO many idiots proved themselves incapable of making the right decision to not distract themselves while driving, that accidents and injuries rose sharply. What is the government supposed to do? They are responsible for legislating as necessary to maintain as safe an environment as possible, so this is what they did. I almost NEVER agree with government intrusion into our personal lives. But sometimes, people prove themselves too stupid to be trusted on their own. I think this is a similar case to the drug issue.

Lol! There will probably be viruses shipped in the box!
