Well how about a literal look at the thing. Here's what I pulled up on Wikipedia on the 3rd Geneva Convention. So as you read through these do the insurgents in Iraq and the taliban in Afghanistan meet the criteria? * "Members of the armed forces" * "militias...including those of organized resistance movements...having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance...conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war" * "Persons who accompany the armed forces" * "Members of crews...of the merchant marine and the crews of civil aircraft" * "Inhabitants of a non-occupied territory, who on the approach of the enemy spontaneously take up arms" now yes/ no can the organized resistance in Iraq and Afghanistan be considered legal combatants based on the criteria set in the convention? if no then anything we give them is better than they deserve. If yes, then does what we are doing GENUINLY violate the HUMANE treatment of POW's?

Sigh... when will they learn, I just don't see how they think what they do is good business practice, it should be obvious that releasing a quality product will garner more acclaim and continued sales than screwing the consumer. It's like these guys opperate on a different cosmic plane from the rest of the business world. Game companies are the only people I've run into that would rather toss a product incomplete and snag a few hundered thousand in sales on something that took a milion or two to make than spend an extra 10 or 20k and recoup the entire investment. it's sad really.

looks like junk inventory and a bunch of npc issues/armor issues fixed for 1.2 1.3 is slated for teh character customization and automap.

I can't make saturday either... gonna be halfway up a mountain at that time.

Actually I think it was that the art assets for the maps weren't done... all that is there is the map of the first city, Fargrove. The elven city is definately incomplete. there are fireplaces with lights but no fire and no furniture anywhere in teh city. However once you leave the cities everything is good. I haven't run into a dungeon yet that wasn't deatiled.

hehe considering that the automap files are in the data folders for the game... it just got cut because of lack of time.

I really wish they can patch it up. All of the framework is there, it just needs to be fleshed out. Once you start running around in the world it's fun, and the dungeons are good... it's just that the never got the cities finished. Oh well...

Oi... I might be able to get something for you if things settle down in a few months; right now there is too much stuff goin on.

My copy came in today so I've spent the evening getting set up and familiarized with the new features. So far I'm pretty happy with it. Photoshop has some nice new type tools and a few goodies like live objects that update automatically if they are edited in illy. Illy's new live fill and trace are awesome. Vectorizing art is soo much easier than 3rd party or by hand. Haven't checked out much of the new stuff in illy yet or InDesign. To me everything just seems better integrated than CS1 was.

I will admit that there are similarities between Rome and America, but there are quite a few differences as well. Rome kept the territory she conquered, America has a peculiar record of giving it back to the people we just conquered. We could go all day on a debate about the reasons for the fall of Rome; from stuff like too much lead to decadence, moral decline and lack of cohesion. Truth is no single factor can be dogmatically clung to as THE reason for Rome's fall. If anything is a common thread it could be the complacency of the Roman people. Rome of 476AD was not the Rome of Scipio, Caesar or Trajan: it had metamorphased into a a people more than willing to hand over the defense of the Empire to the very peoples who conquered it and Emperors who spent more time battling rivals and gorging the populace with "games" than securing the frontier. Yes both America and Rome are the great powers of their day, and yes there are the similarities expected in the American government and ancient Rome but do not forget the differences.

If FSW doesn't ct it I highly doubt that Ghost recon can even hold a candle to it. Ghost recon you have freedom to do what you want to complete a scenario... FSW is very strict in the methodology you employ even if it isn't quite "the Army way." As a training tool, FSW does at least drill the priciples into your head, something GR does not do.
