  1. You didn't mention Infinity: The quest for earth, though it will more of a sandbox MMO than strictly a space combat one.
  2. HEre's the point. UC is all about imagination. You don't need missions, nor anything else. Just use what's already in your hands..and in your head! If I'm not mistaken, the plan was, originally, to let you pilot naval unit, but Derek scraped the idea for a reason (you should search the forum for 'naval units' or something, I'm sure it's in there).
  3. Strange enough I don't use anything to protect my computer (nah, nothing) and usually never have any problem. I had some big virus troubles back in the past, even though I was using an antivirus and a firewall. Then I found out that the best way to protect my computer was simply to be really carefull. Oh, well, I guess using some protection tools wouldn't do much harm, but I'm not in the mood of adding more stress to the processor.
  4. Yes, only shuttles can do that.
  5. http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/ This may help you.
  6. Well canshow, I'm not quite sure what's not crystal clear in SC's post..

I think my sig pretty much sums it up
  8. Mainly, Falcon4 and UC, sometimes Freespace2 and Starshatter.
  9. There's no such things as forgetting Elite, you're on a sci-fi forum, you know.
  10. IIRC, there was a command in UC:AWA to make your team member enter a craft, but they simply couldn't get out (there was no such orders as 'leave craft'). In UC:SE, your mates can't enter vehicles anymore.
  11. Have you ever noticed that foes never seem to detect you when you (or anyone) goes prone? I guess that's related, must be you go to a low radar profile or some technocrap like that. Just make sure your marines aren't smart enough to think about going prone . And beam Resnig down too, just to make sure the AI level of the whole team stays low! And keep the smart ones onboard, never rely on some rookies to defend you command craft!
  12. I've experienced it too, but never thought it was a great deal since you can still give them orders via the PLV.
  13. The 'HOLD' button is your friend there! (you can acces it by clicking the 'menu' button, bottom left). By the way, I made an inverted colors version of the map, I can send it to you if you give an email. I'm not uploading it anywhere, since I'm not sure Derek would be fine with me distributing on, say, imageshack, his material. It's a quick and dirty editing work, but it should work fine till you buy another cartridge
  14. They keep working even when you're not around, no worries And you can monitor how far the mining drone has gone into his mining by checking its status in the loadout section of the tactical screen, if the shuttle that deployed it is on board.
  15. You should try flying over a tall mountain, then trying to get to egress altitude.
  16. There are many BC/UC games, most of which feature campaigns with a lot of missions. Fragile Hope, as the SC said, only contains one 24-hour-long mission. If you think it's not enough...Well, just buy the latest, UC:CE, which features ALL campaings from the previous games. If you don't plan on buying it...well, what about conquering every and each hostile starstation on your way to LV103 ? Wait, I mean, without cloak, and without losing a single capital ship
  17. Wow, that's definitely a big step forward. Now, will you be able to actually kick Resnig through the airlock?
  18. Sadly I'm not with you this evening, RL issues are calling me away from the computer.
  19. Edit: Hmm, nevermind, I just found out on my own:D Sorry for wasting your time, SC.
  20. Okay, my bad, I just noticed. I only had read your post on the forum, didn't bother doublechecking the patch download page (eh, since I'm using the updater which downloads the patch on its own, I thought I wouldn't actualle HAVE to check THAT page that's meant to allow you to manually download these patches). You should make it clear here, because it isn't. Anyway, thanks for the help, I'm gonna give Resnig command over the ship, as a punishment.
  21. Hey. I saw this morning that the 1.00.04 patch for UCSE was out, so I hurried myself and launched the updater. Everything worked fine, the updater patched my old v1.00.03.01 to 1.00.04, then prompted me about updating my directX files. I accepted, then again directX was updated finely. Then, I launched UCSE, and it now asks me to type in a security key and a registration name. I bought and downloaded my game on regnow a while ago, and everything worked fine till now. I tried with the username and game key regnow sent me when I bought the game, but it keeps saying 'the name/key you entered is not valid'. Since I checked, doublechecked, and just to be sure, went trough the whole patching process once more and checked again, I fear this issue isn't coming from me. Any idea? nb: I run the updater, this process is quite straightforward, so don't tell me I didn't patch correctly. The path given was the right one, everything worked fine till then. Btw, I'm not sure this must go here or in the general section, please move it to wherever it fits.
  22. I fully agree with you, but find mouse aiming far more precise than joystick. Concerning performance issues, my computer is roughly the same as yours (e4400 instead), and only have performance issue when flying on planets and the HUD is cluttered with targets boxes. My way around is either filtering out targets using the RTM (usually, hiding friendlies helps a lot), either switching to Single Target Tracking mode.
  23. I may be with you sunday, depending on when the session begins.
  24. I think that's the most important part. UC will only bring you what you're ready to put into it.
  25. You did engage the A/P before giving this order, right?
