  1. You can't have more/different assets than those you began with. By the way, put some effort in your writing please.
  2. Nah, I guess it's more like Crush, Kill, Destroy all enemy bases on Earth, then restart from scratch cause they rebuilt over time Hint: OTS.
  3. Welcome aboard! I hope you'll get even more addicted, and eventually end up taking part to some RP/MP action!
  4. Hmm, I guess I'm a bit confused there, SC. I thought the 'Quit&Save' button worked the same as the Exit and Save (Alt + G) command (Quit&Save gets me to the same screen as the ALT + G command). Anyway, I just tried the above steps using ALT+G instead of Quit&Save. The same happened. The only way to get back to the saved game, was actually to load the game a second time (the first time, it still got me to the KIA screen). I stand corrected, the config file has nothing to do with it.
  5. Okay, I've just spend some time into your issue, and found out that there may actually be *something*. That's what I did: 1st step: -Started a new ROAM carrer: Earthcom commander in Jupiterz, Starcarrier heavy cruiser, default gear. -Ordered the CC to HALT -Sent the AE to the transporter -Meanwhile, checked the energy allocation for the transporter -Saved game (Quit&Save) -Back at the menu, clicked 'Resume last' -Back in the game, waited for the AE to get to the transporter room, then opened tacops, observed Ganymede, choose any random location -'Set pos' on the transporter menu, clicked on a random place -'Deploy' -Died (Ganymede isn't exactly a place you would spend your hollydays on) 2nd step: -Back at the menu, clicked 'Saved' (NOT 'Resume last'), choose my (only) character, restored the (only) savegame. -When the game is done loading, I'm back at the 'KIA' screen (though I saved BEFORE I transported my AE to Ganymede). There may really be some issue with the game keeping the 'KIA' status even after you restored the game. I've already seen this issue somewhere on this board if I remember correctly. I suggest opening the Config pannel, clicking the 'Reset' button. It should fix the issue, since the KIA status tied to the last game session is stored in you ucconfig.ini file which will then be reset. You can also restart the game, since it checks this .ini file at startup and should update your status accordingly. Btw, if you find the game is a bit too easy, try the campaigns. Also, don't use your carrier like it was a fighter. Launch your interceptors, stay behind, enjoy the fireworks. Like any carrier commander *should* do. Oh, and if you think other ships don't use their main guns, then you sure haven't played the game long enough I highly recommend buying one of the later games. They are really worth it, IMO. Hope it fixes your issue.
  6. If you get yourself killed, use the 'saved' option ('restore' in the case of UC:AWA and SE) instead of the 'Resume last' option. It will get you to a list of your characters and allow you to load any savegame. The 'Resume last' option actually takes you back to point where you just left the game...which means, if you got killed, you're back at the KIA screen. Concerning an Ingame help, I would sure enjoy a 'Help' button leading you to a 'RTFM' screen Nah, really, interactive tutorials are meant for stupid people who can't bother reading a 80 pages manual. The game is meant for brained people who don't need the game to tell them what to do (ever tried the ROAM mode? 'There are no hints. No tips. And certainly no direction as to what you can do and cannot do').
  7. http://www.3000ad.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22000018 That, maybe?
  8. Eh, I had the same problem a while ago (playing UC:SE AND browsing the internet/all kind of things you don't really need to do), fixed it by playing the game in windowed mode (as SC said, read the FAQ ). I noticed that playing in windowed mode at high resolutions made the game highly unstable, so just make sure you're not running higher than, say, 800x600 or 1024x768. That was of course before I bought a new rig ONLY dedicated to UC. You just can't imagine how stable the game is now. I guess there shouldn't be any realy difference with UC:CE
  9. In single player mode, you can't get off the planet you began on as a marine. However, I guess multiplayer works differently, since the FAQ states: Q. I AM A MARINE OR PILOT PLAYING ON A PLANET. HOW CAN I GO TO ANOTHER PLANET? A. Marines can fly shuttles and gunships. When you deploy, find one in the region you are in.
  10. Commander Hector Malori Reporting for duty, Sir!
  11. Well, I'm pretty sure I registered a while ago..But you're right, the DB can't find me. Well, I guess I'll have to go once more through the registration process! Edit: okay, it's done.
  12. I haven't gotten in Fleet stuff yet even though I'm already registered, I think. I'll be busy for the next month or so, but will gladly join you when I have some spare time. Count me in.
  13. Glad you fixed your problem. By the way, you should read that first
  14. And no 90days ban Thanks a lot SC, I'm eager for that new patch to come out.
  15. Oh please... Have you actually read the manual?
  16. I see your point, SC. Nukes in space don't do as much damage as they do when exploding in the atmosphere, didn't thought about it "First they wanted clouds and snow and rain, now they are trying to OTS starstations... What next? They'll seek for the Galaxians? " I promise you, boss, I'm not wasting your time anymore.
  17. I agree, weather bears no real relevance...It simply is impressive and adds to the immersion feeling. It's a non-destructive problem (if a problem at all!)...but hell! These cloudy scenarios are really nice looking, I want my ROAM experience to be as impressive! (and I'm the kind of player to drive his mayhem for hours before he gets to the ennemy base...and get his ass banged right upon arrival DJPs? That's for dummies, you can't even pack a MFB in ..So, that plain sunny sky gets a bit boring after a while!) However, just to make things clear, I didn't use the time acceleration cheat. The game ran for 14 real-time hours, since I wanted to be sure. No clouds at the horizon.
  18. You mean a missile dealing 20000 damage to shields is harmless? Go tell that to the guys that sent me to the martial court Well, actually that was someone else's idea, that suggested launching OTS missiles at a planet, putting a starstation between your ship and the planet. I figured out most missiles dealt 10000 damage to shields (don't know how come this RANDOM one did 20k though..I'm sure I tried it once before, and it dealt 10k..should try again).
  19. ...I did Sorry Gammulan friends, GalcomHQ is strong enough to whistand several RANDOM missiles
  20. You got a deal! However, if you don't find anything...Could I choose any random gammulan commander out there to get banned instead of me?
  21. Yep, forgot to mention this one, but that's something strange, actually. The forecast system displays 99M...does it mean the weather should change in 99 minutes? If so, well, there may be an issue, since figures are stuck at 99m for more than 14 hours now (and I've been regularly checking). I may be mistaken about how that forecast system works, though. Should I post it in tech support? This shot was taken from another character, using the weather pattern browsing cheat (ctrl+k), just for the sake of posting a nice picure I'm only worried about the weather never changing (except by using the cheat mode..which I'm not fond of). I sent Resnig on vacations on Gamma-1, so things are pretty quiet onboard...quiet...so quiet...Now I'm bothering the SC with talks about the weather . Maybe I should press the Evac button and get my CO back Hope it's not too late! PS: Seraphiel5, you'd better checking the product registration topic before the Boss notices you haven't gotten through it yet!
  22. Okay, I actually felt at first like 'Omg, Seraphiel5 is a noob', but some afterthoughts came to my mind. Fired UC:SE, started a ROAM game, as a TER/MIL recon force marine. Choose EARTHSB1 [TER/MIL] as a starting location, didn't bother changing my gear, then got deployed. Checked the sky: clear. Not a single cloud in sight. Checked some other places, different timezones, and different weather zones via tacops; still, no clouds anywhere. "No problem, just wait a bit". I sit there, wait for an hour, wait for two hours, still nothing. No problem, real life weather can be like that. Now I've been waiting for more than 14 hours (no cheat,) so here's my question SC: could you give more information about the dynamic weather system? I've used the search function for 'weather', which returned 3 pages of topics, only this post was relevant, and wasn't really adressed, and the UCSE manual, appendix and tutorial don't deal about it either. How long will I have to wait till the weather changes? I'm gonna let the game run for another 10 hours, checking it every hour as I've just been doing (well, I slept 5 hours actually), just to be sure I'm not missing something Oh, btw, I just thought I couldn't get away without posting some nice shots. I lowered the resolution, so the page isn't *too much of* a bitch to load with dialup and slow connections. Very, very, very nice lighting, SC
  23. Well, if you don't want to wait for the weather to change, you can still use the cheat mode to switch between weather patterns. Check this thread. However, you should know that cheating is really, really wrong, and can bring some unwanted effects. Ever wondered how come every single capship in the BC universe is plagued with its very own Resnig?
  24. You're cleaning the bridge windows from outside when Resnig gets in the mood of flying around to the other edge of the town.
  25. http://rtgame.info/misc/PHOTO068.PNG note to self: I shouldn't have skipped this 'how to park a gunship' lesson
