well, i'm new here.

i am just wondering about the above said ability, since i've always wanted to play in a naval destroyer. i don't know if the hard fought experiences if planet bound people like me will just end up in flames just by 1 lucky OTS or RANDOM.

will there be any ways do dodge OTS for surface player like the EMD of starships?

Will there be any way for players to attack a surface of a planet from space in multiplayer?

I highly doubt it now with no OTS.

But what about STO?

Will a group of ships like 10 or so be able to "takeover" a planet?

Hola....I second the curiosity about attacking planets in multiplayer....doooooood, commander, sir, supreme commander, permission to ask that OTS weapons be enablable in multiplayer via a flag in a config file, SIR!

Well other than the "doooood", at least you know how to ask.

You still will probably get a siddown though, but thats an honor.

OTS would likely cause a big *Huge* game imballance with full multiplayer. what fun would it be to be on base defense and just get nuked from space? You can do all that in SP if you want to.

In a multiplayer game it will be much more Fun, Ballanced, Challenging, personal if the attacking BC or Fleet has to send in landing parties and base assult units.

Ahhhh, the honor of getting a siddowm order . Guess I didnt know OTS missiles were so destructive since I've never played a BC game. I thought they'd be more like precision cruise missiles , barring the RANDOM, but I suppose I get to cause more havoc than I thought.

Usually they just took out an entire base without mercy... ..... at least in BCMG.....

What is the point of enabling an STO system when the orbiting starships can do nothing to the planet's surface? commanders could launch shuttles into to the planet well out of range of the planetary defenses. As far as imbalance, only if the sector they are fighting in is not secure. In modern war, victory is impossible without air superiority because you will constantly get bombed into oblivion.

it's not the same, a planet can't very well wander around the server looking for battlecruisers to bludgeon to death with sto missiles now can it? No, a planet has to wait for the battlecruiser to come to it, and if that battlecruiser is planning to launch ots missles, then it won't have much time to act. even if both parties launch their missiles it means that 1 person can destroy a whole server full of players with a good shot on his lucky day. doesn't sound balanced to me.

note that in modern warefare there is no balancing, you would probably be hit by a 2000lb bunker buster bomb before you ever saw your enemy. i think i'll pass on that as a multiplayer war simulation thank you.

do i have the wrong definition of balancing? it seems kinda like a vague idea to me and it might be the root of all this disagreement.
