  2. quote:I've lived in various places, including Bayswater, Kensington, Wembley, Watford and ... Wembley huh? Urghh, I feel for you. [ 12-18-2001: Message edited by: Blades ]
  3. Yeah, it's the scotch, see? Keeps you young. And drunk. Mostly drunk. Works for me.
  4. Highlands? Only if it were scotch mate. I think you'll find Dereks an ex townie. Thats my bet anyway. Somewhere on the M25 circular. Or there abouts.
  5. Dude, you need to keep up with current events. Im back. But I appreciate your words, ALL words from ALL the people that have contacted me during this difficult time. Many thanks and kudos all round.
  6. It's the last weekend before Christmas. I get the feeling that a lot of people are going to be occupied during that period. Because the majority are going to be on US time, this means that whenever this happens is going to put us europeans in a tricky spot, espech if done over the weekend. I would suggest either wednesday or thursday this week before we all break for the holiday festivities. If thats not an option, someone for gods sake keep logs and make sure they are mailed direct to me.
  7. Thats ... Thats just ...
  8. Short and to the point. Myself and Derek have been in discussions this afternoon regarding certain elements on this whole affair. The end result is that we both know where we stand on several issues, and have acknowledged the mutual respect we have for eachothers positions, standing in the community and achievements. It was made very clear to me that my resignation was neither wanted, nor accepted. To this end, I would like to announce that I have withdrawn my resignation as Orion Fleet Commander and will resume my normal duties shortly. This doesnt mean that everything is back to normal - far from it, but it does mean that during this transitional time, things are now a lot friendlier than they were and a resolution that will benefit everyone concerned is much more likely. That is all.

    Sig Updates

    Wahay ! Hi there stranger!
  10. Oban, you are welcome, as is everyone else, wherever we go. JJ was just defending me, and posted at the same time I did. I deleted his post, but apparantly didnt do so in time. Everyone is strung out and frustrated with things right now, myself being no exception. Take a deep breath - go eat some candy off the tree and dont let this trouble you further. I'll take the same advice. Friends?
  11. Accepted readily, and happily. There wasnt going to be any flaming, Oban. Just your comments would have been better recieved from someone who knows the state of play in more detail than you. You got me at a sore moment, and I snapped a bit, so I too apologise. Anyway, it's time to move on from this. I hope you'll be a part of the new community, wherever and whenever it appears.
  12. In light of the above action, and the comments I have made in Important Announcements thread, I hereby resign my commision as Orion Fleet Commander. And as my last standing order to you lot before I go, I want to make one thing very clear. I love this game, this community and the history around it. I dont want to see any bullshit backlash against the SC or his policies. Play nice, or the next time you tune into The Basement, I'll rip you a new corn hole. Take care guys.
  13. I cant believe what Im seeing. It's bad enough that you feel you have to do this, because it's far from neccesary, but to publically make me a scapegoat for your descision is beyond belief. Sure, you may not see it that way, but from everybody elses perspective, thats how it looks. I dont have any personal, or professional misgivings with you boss, but after recent events (In reference to both Hamblins and Epsilon 5's expulsion) I have become dissalusioned with the whole affair. Banning the both of them was both prudent and neccesary after the way their either attacked you, or recklessly spoke about taboo topics so freely on your board. They deserved to go, and go they did. And what of the others that were banned in the weeks prior to theirs? Did they deserve to go? The vast majority Im sure did, but there were those that got the boot because they were spotted on an off day, or when you we're being harrased by bogus bug reports from people who didnt RTFM. We all have bad days. We all get grouchy and toche. I am no exception to this, as was indicated in my previous post. But the point still remains as is. Things have degenerated around here. People are in fear of posting the wrong thing, or accidently rubbing you up the wrong way. A lot of them dont know you as well as us vets have - so are more likely to take offence at a curt word or a harsh tongue lashing. I doubt there is anybody here who hasnt been at the end of one of your backlashes in the past. Remember back in bygone times I was banned for spreading maliscious garbage about ACM scripts? You recieved several emails from someone about this fact, and somehow I was blamed for the incident. Well, as we learnt a few hours after that banning, the culprit was someone else and not me. I was reinstated, and all was forgiven and forgotten. Point is, you were under a lot of stress then and you reacted more on instinct that evidence. After stepping back and looking at things objectively, you realised that It wasnt me who was responsible. Bad guy was found and banned, case closed, everything back to normal. This is the same sort of thing. You're under a lot of stress since BCM went Gold. You've been in development with this title for two long years, and you're already straight in with enhancements, expansion packs and several other franchise titles. You work long hours, tend to a very busy board and answer most of the support everyone here. You're burning yourself out, and all the people who have been here for the duration have noticed this. We dont want you to burn out. We love this game. We love this frnachise. We love this friggin community. We dont want any of it to end, but we dont want the guy who has made this all possible to get dissalusioned with his audience to the point where he says "To hell with it all" and shuts up shop. Sure, the game will go on, but this community is what fuels those games. Close it down, even tempoarily, and it will do more damage than any of us would dare think about. The word Draconian was, perhaps, a bit harsh on my part. Put it down to the frustration of watching somthing I built up over these years fall apart around me. That would do it to a guy, you know? Perhaps I should have described things around here as being "Too strict" instead? Either way, Im tired of having to tell my people to hold their tongues, or watch what they say for fear of a backlash. We always known you have to take the forum's conduct seriously, and a lot of us here have done our best to help you with that, but things have gotten to a point where people approach me and ask whether or not they can risk saying somthing without fear of being banned. I dont want to have to do that, nor do I want to see a community I care about suffer because I have voiced these concerns. So I ask you, keep the community alive, let those people begging for an updated patch sit on their hands for a while and go and take a break. Anyway, I've said what I had to say, and done what I had to do. Whatever happens with the community, I'd like to thank Derek, the CAT crew, the forum community and most of all my comrades in the Orion Fleet for making the last three years both memorable and challenging. Never before have I known such good people with such a passion for the holy grail of hobbies - The Game. May you continue into the new year with my best wishes and fondest memories. It's been a helluva ride guys .... Greg, she's all yours. Take good care of her. This if former Fleet Commander Karl "Blades" Savage, signing off ...
  14. quote:Don't beat yourself over it Blades. You're not responsible for anyone's personality except your own. That may be true, but it doesnt take away the fact that in the space of just over a week, two of my key, long standing people have been banned because of stupid things they have said. On top of that, another of my long term members and key members has resigned due to personal issues he has to deal with. I've spent two years building this fleet up to somthing I and my members can be proud of, and during that time I've had to speak to just about all of them concerning matters of conduct and forum responsibility. So their failures to adhere to the rules I have imposed on them reflects badly on me. I like to think I run a tight ship and attract the sort of people that take things seriously. To a fair extent, I've done that - but random outbursts like this do nothing but knock us down another notch in a period where we are already having problems. Yes, Orion is having problems. They may not be evident to the outsider, but they are there. It's like I've lost control of things, and piece by piece all the work I've done here is unraveling before my eyes. Im getting tired of watching this happen. Im getting tired of coming here every day and seeing another post by one of my lot that has me cringing, or wondering if it's going to get them shouted at or banned. It never used to be this bad. There was a time when people could get away with a lot more than they do now. If you ask me (And you didnt) things have gotten a little too draconian around here of late. I agree that security has to be tightened to keep a certain element out of the way, but I dont agree with the sheer number of people (Vets and newbies alike) who are intimidated or frightened into submission. What James Hamblin and Epsilon 5 did in the past week was stupid and wrong, and I dont condone their actions at all. However, I cant sit on my hands and not speak out about the atmosphere in this forum of late. Im pretty sure the regulars know exactly what Im talking about. I meant what I said before. Im tired of this whole business. My life is busy enough without having to worry too much about a hobby which is taking up more and more of my time and giving me the sort of stress I could well do without. Im strongly considering stepping down and walking away. If I do that, I'll finish putting up the rest of the Orion site and hand over responsibility of it, the domain name, email accounts and everything associated to whoever succedes me.
  15. You might want to hold that thought for a couple of days guys. Lets not get too ahead of ourselves.
  16. You're right. He should have known better. He screwed up, and he's paid for it. Who wants to be next?
  17. Done. Stupid, stupid comments. What the hell was he thinking? Ok, enough is enough. Im tired of seeing my members doing retarded things like this. Im sick of logging on and seeing that people I've brought on board, given responsibility to and encouraged over the months (and in some cases years) throw it all away by being dumb. In fact, Im getting sick of being made to look bad by people who should really know better. If you got warez, I dont want to know about it. If you got a grudge against the SC, I dont want to hear about it. If you have a problem with me, bring it. The next docile ******* who steps out of line is gone by my own hand. In fact, screw it, if ANYTHING like this happens again, Im disbanding the Fleet, reasigning those left elsewhere and taking a long walk away. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH. If you ladies cant act responsibly, you have no place here, and I will be damned if im going to continue to allow this to reflect badly on me.
  18. [RP] It all happened too quickly for the Orion Fleet Commander to take in. Through the scope of the rifle, he first watched one, then another, then yet another of the Earthcom guards fall amidst a shivering distortion into invisible arms. It had begun. In a matter of seconds, he rotated the rifles sight a mere inch to either side and counted several more downed guards vanishing mysteriously out of sight, taken by invisible thieves. When the yelling started, he nearly lost his nerve and hesitated for what could be a fatal half second. "Man down! Man down!" came the cry from somwhere inside a concealed section of the barracks. Savage immediately steered his rifle in the general direction from wher the cry had originated, but failed to visually identify his target. The building itself obscured his vision, shielded the proverbial spanner in the works from a quick, clean kill. "Caine! You got a bead?" "Negative!" came the reply from the Commander perched in the tree beside him. Savage took aim and held his breath. Fire spat from the rifles muzzel, and a single shell blew it's way into the building. "Miss!" came a cry over the radio. "One up, four to the left." Savage compensated, squeezed the trigger. "Radio out! Target on the move, heading to closed doorway at the right edge of the building." Savage shifted the rifle again. "Call it Chav." Two seconds, maybe three passed before the Insurgent replied. "Now!" Again the rifle spat into the building. Another shell ploughed through the wall. "Contact down!" cried Chav from the lash unit. At the same moment, a shot echoed out from Caines perched position in the tree. A fraction after it bellowed, Savage pivoted the rifle once more, and scanned the barracks for Caines intended target. He saw a body groggily stepping amidst a splurt of blood from a neck wound. It took a second shot from Caines rifle before the Earthcom guard was properly put down. A third - perhaps the final missing target stepped briefly into view. Savage made him, lined up on his head for an instant then relaxed his finger as the man violently spun round, twisted, and fell backwards clutching his chest. Nicely held, thought Savage as the brief distortion that appeared behind the guard again returned to stillness. Almost killed me a ghost. It took nearly another two minutes of searching and scanning before Chavik radioed back and announced the all clear. The stealth suits were deactivated, and the six ghosts returned to the land of the living. Immediately, they took up holding positions around the barracks and held there until Chavik radioed through again announcing it was time to come to dinner. Savage pulled back from the cliff face, tapped twice into his lash and awaited the rest of his team to pass through the cave exit and join him. "That." he said as they began to huddle, "is our next objective. Team two have secured the barracks. We will join them and then procede through the gateway and down into Golgotha. Move out!" Team one dispersed, and headed to join their comrades at the barracks. [/RP] Short and sweet, I got a 4 day weekend commin up so I'll be havin a big update soon. Once you goons are back with team two, use the original thread.

    It's a boy!

Nice one $ilk my man! Consider yourself on extended leave. And see what you can do about producing another couple before long - we need to start filling the ranks in OFC.
  20. Sean Connery for the SC? Nah, I think it was suggested that Wesley Snipes got that role yonks ago. I think that Connery fits Rattlers shoes nicely tho. Oh yeah, and Adam Sandler for Aramike!
  21. Hey Tac, I'll have some of that action. Drop me a mail with the details, and I'll let you into Orions war room.
  22. quote:I'd love to see some of the RP stories (the epics like Preemptive Strike) turned into books someday. Ah, I've been doing that to PS for over a year now. If I manage to break a leg or somthing, chances are I'd finish it sooner. quote:And movies?? Wow! I'd love to hear more about this. We talked about this before in an old thread. I call Charlie Sheen for FC Savage.
