  1. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: I think it's already sold more copies than most other games anyways... big yay for the P.C. people... Rockstar ought not to have caved... I thought the stereotypes were there for a reason... I agree. Also, most everyone in that game is stereotyped. What are they going to do, take everything out of it? If they do that, it's just going to become a Disney game!
  2. I was watching CBS news and they are claiming victory for the Shame on you segment when they highlighted the way Haitians are portrayed in Vice City. Also from ugings of Mayor Bloomberg here in NYC. Rockstar is now going to remove the haitian issue from vice city from further copies of the game. Of course not everyone is still happy because of the all the copies that are still in stores now. Guess what though, whomever has the original GTA Vice City has a nice little collectible.
  3. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: although I've mostly left the 2 girls at the same time fantasy back in my 'younger' daysOMG it is truly a sad day when a man loses that. I mean it's the only thing that keeps us guys going even in our darkest hours. And indeed to lose that hope is surely a dark day for humanity. Of everything that has come and gone and all the things that I have lost, it is that one hope that keeps me going day after day. For without it it is surely the death of man. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: I'm looking for responsible girl nowadays. Sorry to disilusion you but there is no such animal. First there's that time of month insanity and moodiness then when that's over it menopause where they go even more insane and it's all downhill from there.
  4. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: The love scenes were unneeded, gratuitous and laughable. When you have no less than three of those within the first 38 mins, you know something's clearly wrong. 8/10 I say it was done to entice and ensnare the Teen crowd to at least turn it on. I am in 100% agreement on you about the characters. I just wish they would come out with something original. We've seen remake after remake in the movies and on T.V. for years now from an organization that has lost any inspiration and talent to come up with original stuff. Oooooo did I say that nasty word "original" .Take for example the american version of that british comedy Coupling what a disaster. Now the original series was perfect you could not have asked for a better chemistry between the characters and the actors are perfect. BTW the character who plays Steve in the British version also made an appearance in Pirates of the Carribean. All I can say in ending is that I just wish original things would come out in the same calibre as 2001:a space oddesey, A clockwork Orange, Blade Runner etc. But alas I think not. Knowing our luck some brain will decide to remake the Wizard of Oz this time staring Britney Spears or The Wiz with Beyonce. .
  5. I say we should start a discussion about Clinton and his cigar!!!! Anyone second that motion
  6. quote:Originally posted by Hellbinder: IMO you and others had decided to tear this apart before it was ever on and are now forced to come up with forced ÔÇ£laughableÔÇØ nitpicky and imo silly reasons to slam it because its Damn Good.Look at it this way, like with most things everyone has their own point of view each just as valid as the others nitpicking is just part of it. Tell me there was not one thing you've nitpicked? And to say his reasons are silly is just as silly because his point of view is just as valid as yours is to say it's Damn Good. Opinions on BSG are going to be as diverse as the people making the opinions. As for me BSG just didn't do anything for me story wise and mostly character wise. I guess that's the problem with seeing and experiencing too many things I knew what was going to happen in most part before it happened so there was no suspense in it for me and everything had that seen it before aspect. Anyway, I actually turned it on and tried to watch it with an open mind and put aside all my negative convictions even after reading all about it on the official web site and others as well as the hour episode Battlestar Galactica: The low down which they had put together more as a defensive move against all the nay sayers which I found laughable that they even had to do this. Tells you that there are a hell of alot of people upset about the character makeover among other things. I'll give you this the special effects are good. But special effects alone don't make a movie. It's like an Oreo cookie without the filling. And in my opinion BSG just doesn't have the filling. Blame the actors, Blame the director or blame them both I don't care because there just is no chemistry between any of the characters. The only character I had any sympathy for was the executive office who gave the order to lock down the section of BSG that was about to blow and take the whole ship with it even though that meant killing the 100 crew members that were trapped there and seeing their bodies get blasted out into space. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes on that call. That pretty much is it for memorable scenes and pretty much it on my opinion on the whole thing.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: So now we are comparing Christ to Starbuck? Have mercy! As far as Richard Hatch, he's just pissed cause he hasnt had an acting job in 20 years. Again, just watch the damn show or not and quit elevating the original to a status it doesnt deserve. Next we'll be saying how great and influencial Buck Rogers was (the Gil Gerard version). I am not comparing Starbuck to Christ but making a comparison as to the character change. And yes I did watch it tonight all I have to say is that a bad Star Trek movie would have been more enjoyable. The actors they got just don't have any chemistry at all. I just wished they used the money to make a Babylon 4 mini series starting from the point where Capt. Sinclair and the B4 were taken back in time to the first Shadow war. And guess what it would not be another crappy remake. As for Buck Rodgers that should not even have been made!
  8. quote:Originally posted by DREADA: So it's arrived - Premiere is tonight (US) Don't know why, but I'm hopeful. Someone please post a review later or somethin coz I'm a lil' far away. Thxs Yup. Did anyone catch the program they have been showing on the sci-fi channel BattleStar Galactical- The low down. All it was was a defense against the zillions of nay sayers that have been talking to them about their interpretation of BSG. The major issue in particular is the changed character StarBuck to female. The actor who originally played Apollo was less than happy saying that they've changed the entire dynamics of BSG. The production team's defense is that they wanted to show a female in a strong positive roll and they sited the many variations of Romeo and Juliet. What R&J have anything to do with it I'll never know. That's like saying Hmmm we'll change Princess Lea's character from Luke's sister to Luke's brother or changing Frodo's friend Samwise to a female or making another Jesus Christ movie and changing Jesus to a female. Sure you can do it there is no law against interpretation even in the name of feminism to show women in strong powerful roles but it would be absolutely ridiculous. DonÔÇÖt get me wrong IÔÇÖm not against showing women in this light but introduce a new character that is equal to StarBuck is the correct way to do that. My take on the whole thing is theyÔÇÖre using feminism as a detriment to us guys. Makes me wonder whoÔÇÖs really pulling the strings in the production of BSG.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Did any of you guys play Starflight? Binary Systems was the creator. I still have it on a 3 1/2 inch dikette!! LOL Can't play it on my Win2000 system out of the box so to speak, and BCM to keep me going on that score, but it was a fun game for it's time. A little wheel for the copywrite protection, and a wallmap of the universe is what I got with it, and still have. The answer to the first quesion is YES!!! And I too still have the entire package. I had to dload a fresh copy from Home of the Underdogs because my floppy disks gone bad. I have mentioned before in some other posts. Call me crazy but the graphics may be a bit dated but the game is still fun because it has great content. I just played it again a few months ago. There is also an SVGA patch for it so you will not have to suffer the CGA 3 color scheme. The reason for this is because when the game was released the only state of the art video cards were 3 color cga with 16 color composite output for TV hookup thru rca jacks. So if you hooked it up to a TV like I did, you got to see the game in all it's pre-EGA card 16 colors. As for running the game today, I use a windows98 dos boot disk and play it straight thru dos the way it was meant to be played. So I would assume, if you do this too, the game will run fine just a tad fast. I don't remember if I tried running the game thru the windows DOS box. Anyway, That wheel was the only thing I found annoying about the game a low tech copy protection. If you are interested, check this out (which I've mentioned before also) StarFlight 3. Check out the screen shots.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Steve Schacher: Yet another perspective on the wars pre- and post-League/UN: World War 1 was caused by the dying throes of the Hapsburg Empire, which ran from Austria eastward. Back then, Europe was a bunch of powerful monarchies, with the English Crown, the French Monarchy (then Napolean and his eastward march into Hapsburg territory), and the Russian Empire to the northeast of the Hapsburgs. The was that conflicts were resolved back then was to marry between monarchies. That all fell apart with World War 1. The other conflicts, such as the Boer War and the Boxer Rebellion, were the result of British and French colonialism in Africa and Asia. Even America's War of 1812 was a result of American involvement in a British-French conflict. What makes today's conflict different is that the United States is not the product of a monarchy, nor is it interested in colonial expansion (although some may debate this). It does have an interest in seeing dictatorships replaced with people-led republics, but those republics do not have to become American puppet nations, although I'm sure America wouldn't mind the open markets that result. And why not, comparisons are good for a proper perceptive of events. I never really looked into that before about the pre/post-league/UN global political environment and I was just curious. So I did searches to see what I would come up with. Basically, what I'm seeing in the results is that the U.N. has been ineffective in curtailing aggression and that the U.N. is only as effective as the cooperation it gets from the different countries. Also, The way I'm seeing it is that the U.N. is nothing more than the middle man for alliances and treaties which countries did anyway before the formation of the U.N. It was Alliances and treaties that was the main cause of the first World War WWI and U.S. entry into WW1. So much for staying Isolated from wars and this applies to WWII. Now that the U.S. wants to stand on it's own two feet and Right a big Wrong that has been done to the "people" of Iraq these same countries that we saved their a$$es on many occasions and spent millions or billions to rebuild their post war a$$es are now giving the U.S. the snub and stand on their high horses. All I can say to them in the immortal words of Duke Nukem "bunch of scum sucking, bottom feeding, algae eaters". I never hear the nay sayers talk about Kuwait in this issue. Boy are they rich and happy both politically and religiously. And that's the thing we want to bring to Iraq. How can this be wrong? So it was brought about possibly by a couple of lies. Any of you that has not lied as a means to and end I'll be more than happy to give you the first stone to throw. quote:Originally posted by Sauronthedeceiver: I agree that Saddam Hussein was an awful dictator who wasn't worthy of the respect and reverence of the people of Iraq, but that's not our business, that's their business. How can you say that when the people you are referring to were oppressed and couldn't say a damn thing and if they did that person and the entire family would be brutalized. So tell me how could they ask for help? I have family members serving over in Iraq and you know what the everyday Iraqi Joe say's to them not "what are you doing here" but "what the hell took you so long". Of course I can't speak for the Saddam loyalist you can imagine what they are thinking and saying. It is the average Iraqi that the sacrifice of our brave men and women make it a just cause. And don't be fooled by the negative news reporting you get from the liberal media they are painting a completely different picture than I hear coming out of Iraq from my sources. And you know what I have to say to the liberal news media in the immortal words of Duke Nukem again "bunch of scum sucking, bottom feeding, algae eaters". quote:Originally posted by Sauronthedeceiver: The US LOOKS LIKE a bunch of power-hungry idiotsHey now it's good to have a VICE!! Besides I don't know a country that isn't or wouldn't if they got half a chance. The U.S. is not unique in that respect. Or look at it this way perhaps the problem isn't the governments that are at fault but the power hungry colonialistic, imperialistic and monarchistic global companies that we are all surfs too that are the real problem. quote:Originally posted by Sauronthedeceiver: The UN is a wonderful institution founded with all the best intentions in mind. Through it we can solve any problems that arise in the world DIPLOMATICALLY. The US feels that the UN can not provide solutions that are in the best interests of America (yummy oil), so they jump the gun and attack, throwing together a 'posse' of supportive nations. Are you sure about this. I think it is time to look again at world events. Look at Africa, Isreal and palestine and more. In my view the U.N. is just full of castrated ineffective thinkers without the conviction to back up anything they come up with. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: America's interests first and foremost.Spot on Jaguar. I dare and defy anyone from any other country that says theirs is not. And it's not just countries either but individuals. How many of you here are intersted in making tons of cash and buying your fancy cars, Tv's, computers, houses, eating out at expensive restaurants, lied on a resume to get a job even if that meant the person who was honest on his/her didn't get the job but you did because of your lie or climb the company ladder even if it means stepping on and/or backstabbing your co-workers etc... All while you do that a good portions of your fellow citizens have nothing, jobless and go hungry. So don't tell us about self-interest. I'm talking globally here not just the U.S.. quote:Originally posted by Steve Schacher: He thinks we sound smart...Well we'll have to see what smart thinks about that!! So I ordered it from GoGamer Wednesday night and had it Thursay by 2:30pm... This thing is graphically amazing, but I haven't had a chance to really dig into playing it as my daughter has been sick all week I gotta say the interface is gonna take some getting used to, but once I start remembering the keyboard shortcuts I think everything will just keep getting better... Sorry to hear you haven't got it yet, SC, but all I have to say is.... NEEENER, NEEEENER, NEENER !!! LMAO Lucky devil . So, how are the frame rates on the game so far?
  13. quote:Originally posted by Sean Mirrsen: I am not likely to get the game in any but the pirated state (unless one of our official distributors get his hands on this), but that's Russia, I can't do much about it. And, to be honest, I do not intend to pay twice the cost for the officially distributed version, even if one will occur. Unless of course it is the ONLY version available... Still, that's nothing compared to the original price... (even 20$ - minimum for a commercial game - is quite a sum compared to 3$ that we usually pay...) Well Dreamcatcher used Akella for it's Russian distribution for BCMG so I'm assuming they will be using them for UC. I'm sure SC would know that better than me about this. Question how much in Russian money does BCMG cost and what would that translate into American dollars. Just curious.
  14. quote:Originally posted by IceCold: Remember that when the Leauge of Nations failed there was a World War. You need to have faith in global orgnizations for when nations begin to act on their own they light the fuse on a powderkeg the civilized world rests upon. The League of Nations ceased its activities after failing to prevent the Second World War. The name "United Nations", coined by United States President Franklin D. The only reason there has not been another all out global conflict is not because the U.N. is there but because everyone knows that'll be it the end of everything.
  15. Egads how did this one sneak in (it's for the xbox) Battlestar Galactica . If someone already mentioned it sorry I was too lazy to do a forum search but I don't recall anyone saying anything about this game.
  16. To all you U.N. supporters don't think the U.N. is any better U.N. group seeks control of Internet Intrusive U.N. Treaty and these are just some of the issues at hand.

One of the best features about it is NO WINDOWS KEY . Of course, I've credited this longevity to, in most part, the keyboard condom I keep on it.
