  1. Well, my 1990 Chevy S10 Blazer 4x4, just had its 128000 mile oil change (Yea, I know, I was a little late). I asked the guy if I could look at the underside while it was up on the rack, as PA inspection is comming in March. I noticed I need a new tail pipe, and my gas tank has a very small leak in it. I knew I needed a new tail pipe, but am glad I waited. Can you imagine what might've happened if they used a blow torch to install a new tail pipe???
  2. quote:Originally posted by Akira: hehe, have you ever seen 72pin simms jammed into all 4 pci slots... hehe, no wonder the computer wouldn't reboot. It made me wonder if the person first tried to fit the ISA video card into the ram slots. Oh man. I just knew that he would be using the cd tray as a cup holder ROTFLMAO!!! Akira, that one just made my day!!!
  3. quote:Originally posted by Kenada: I used to work in a computer store... And I must say, i have seen some pretty messed up crap.. I have poeple bring computers with floppy power connectors plug in directly to the Mobo, i have agp vids come in a box when its in a pci slot... The stories and tales just get must worse. After reading that, I can't believe some people are that careless. Don't people read the installation manual anymore???
  4. Just a couple of tunes for my BCM enjoyment: Scorpions - Hurricane 2000 This tune has a nice mix of Rock and Classical music. Try it if you can. Bush - The Little Things This tune is a must if you are a Fighter pilot.
  5. Those Heatsinks are a mother to get on. A flat head screw driver comes in handy, just be careful with it. [ 11-17-2001: Message edited by: GREG MILLER ]
  6. My new box is currently computing with 512megs of ram, and it is pure heaven. The machines I build for other people generally come with 256megs. There is a small noticible performance difference between the two. Now my wife's machine ony has 72megs of ram, and.....well, I don't want to go there, and its bearly worth upgrading. 7. I have to agree with Charles' meaning of an OS. I mean if the internet was essential to the operation of the PC, then by rights, it shouldn't be able to boot up without an ISP connection. I mean right now, if you were to totally disconnect you PC from the web, it stays functioning, and will even reboot to operational status. The same goes for the media player. When I found out they integrated it into WinXP, I was wondering why on earth would they do that? I truly believe when .Net gets going, the next Windows integration will be MS Office. Why you ask? Simply because there really is no more reason to upgrade it, and MS knows this. I feel they will just make it part of the OS, and raise the price by $150, and then sell an add-on pack to upgrade from MS Office Standard to MS Office Pro.
  8. [rp] You claim Orion is insignificant, but yet, after two failed attempts to wipe our very existance from the galaxy, the Terran race is still going strong. You predict Orion's demise, and Prime's downfall shortly there after, but yet you fail to realize Orion has entrenched its anchor well within Alpha Centauri, and have no plans to remove it. I say come; come and attempt to extract it if you dare. Come and fight the wave of destruction that is Tsunami. Come and face the Deterrence that will not tire. Come and witness the galactic grim reaper that goes by the name of Deathbringer. Come and tango with the deep space hunter known to be, Sark. If you feel up to challenge that is Orion Fleet, just remember one thing......The Anchor Holds!!! [/rp] That bantering felt good. [ 11-09-2001: Message edited by: GREG MILLER ]
  9. Thanks Cmdr Cooper, will do that.
  10. Just remember, the Vesperons are not the friends you think they are.
  11. I like it!!!! Hmm, let me find my updated pic for you to add. Expect an email from me soon.
  12. ROTFLMAO!!! I was laughing so hard, I almost fell out of my chair! I wonder if people have started to hunt this guy down yet for the talk show circuit?
  13. I know what you mean, and have already started a list for my wife to get me. We were at Sam's Club on Saturday, and my wife had to have MS Zoo Tycoon. Needless to say, her PC crashed a day before, so she couldn't play until Monday night. I will probably get her the next Sims expansion pack for Christmas. The most notable title on my want list is the Half Life Platinum Pack which has 4 games in one. Now I am no big FPS fan, but I want this one. Ofcourse I have a big need for hardware to, but that is not something I trust my wife with, as I am extremely particular with brand/model#.
  14. Another good read SC. I am sorry, but ATI has it comming to them. I really think they are literally resting on their vast OEM contracts; and when they start dropping like flies, that's when things will change. By that time though, it will already be too late, and then Nvidia will acquire ATI Radeon Technology. Don't get me wrong, I am currently using an ATI card in my new machine that my 3dfx replaced in the old machine. And yes, the games I play on the new machine have graphical glitches that are not present with the V3. When 3dfx went under, I looked to ATI to step upto the plate, after all I didn't want to be paying $600 dollars for a vidcard. Then BCM beta testing moved strictly to DX8, and that was when the Radeon testers started to shin...err I mean fade. I am very much looking forward to putting a Geforce3 in my new machine; I order it December 26.
  15. lol!!! SC, that FAQ update on Radeon is a hoot!!! I am still laughing!!! The best part about it, IT'S TRUE!!!
  16. Joel, I would stay away from the PNY cards, I hear they are really not up to snuff.
  17. Can it get any worse?
  18. Eh, if you can't beat em, cheat em!!! I think I may have lost any credibility I may have still had for ATI. Thanks for the info SC, for I am anxiously awaiting my Geforce3 purchase.
  19. One time I took a Super Carrier to Arima. Tulon launched its usuall swarm of flies at me. At that time, I was still use to my fully updated MK2. So I want into fly swatting mode. When after the first swarm was decimated, the calvery came a callen, and no, it wasn't for my benefit. As I continued my exterminating duties, I noticed my shields were starting to take a beating. Then it hit me that I was now using a standard shield generator. By the time I figured it was time to take cover, it was already too late. As the shields fell, the insect vermon then started to peel the armor away from my hull. As I made a break for the worm hole, back to Alpha Centauri, a peskie missle struck its mark, and took my engines with it. Well needless to say, when all was said and done, I was left with a burning hull, that was drifting at a rate of 25kph. Shields, Engines, Main Computer, Main Reactor, all Life Support were all off-line; and most of my cargo, gone. Half of my SE's were dead, the other half, Glowing as green as can be. My now green chief engineer managed to restore Life Support,a but that was as far as he got before submitting to the deadly raidiation found on Deck 3, and made his way to an overwhelmed sick bay. So beings everybody else started glowing including myself, I decided to take a space walk with hopes of getting away from the glow. When I got out into the vastness of space, I started looking around at the situation. I had noticed that the damn raiders no longer seen me as a threat and broke off the attack. All I could do was watch helplessly as my ship, once proud and mighty, limped ever so closer to the worm hole. Well needless to say, before I actually found out the fate of me and my crew, I had to leave and save the game. Since this was the end of the month, by time I got back to play, the current beta patched had expired, and installing the next one in line, killed the game file. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, and as the SC has said, You had to be there.
  20. I also thank the SC for making the game of my dreams as well. I remember when I first booted up BC3K. Oh I thought I died and had gone to space. Sheesh, who the hell do these people think they are!!!???!!! [ 10-17-2001: Message edited by: GREG MILLER ]
  21. Back, and ready for duty!
  22. Twenty years ago, my Dad retired from the Air Force. Our last post was at Griffis Air Force in Rome, NY. This was a SAC base, and as a result, BUFF's were always out on the tarmak ready to go, with their camo coloring. They are truly an awesome piece of machinery. When I was 5, we were stationed at Wright Patterson A.F.B., in Dayton Ohio. Needless to say, I made numerous trips to the Air Force Museum. Oh those were the days.
  23. Starting today, I will be out of town for a few days, and should be back on Friday. If you need any assistance, please contact either FC Blades, or Cmdr Joeseph Bosch. See you then.
  24. ICQ & Yahoo IM ICQ for all of my Community Contacts. Yahoo mostly for family. My wife uses AIM for all her AOL friends, since she still has her mail there, and I WON'T allow that piece of trash software on my machines. Me, I won't touch that with a ten foot pole!
