On 5 May 2002 I said quote:I guarantee, however, that when the day comes that Jonathan no longer needs my wife and me as much as he does now that I will beat a quick path into the enlistment office. Until then I'll be more like a ghost in Wraith's Fleet.Well, it's official: I'm coming out of retirement and have already submitted my request to Tac to be reactivated as part of Wraith Fleet. When I retired, I was Fleet XO and SOG Wing Leader but, as I told Tac, I am not asking to be reinstated in those positions. I will, however, fulfill whatever position is assigned me, even that of a rank and file commander, should I be reinstated as a Wraith Fleet commander. As I stated back in May, my son has Autism. Unlike many children with Autism, Jonathan has responded incredibly well to the efforts we've made at home and to the great efforts made by his teacher and 504 aide. He's progressed so much that he no longer has an in-class (504) aide and, other than a few odd mannerisms, Jonathan is just like any other eight year old. Now I just have to remind myself that having a rather "normal" eight year old is good thing.

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: There too many user controlled ships in the game to even attempt doing bridge/cockpit bitmaps for any of them. So, its not going to happen. And although I understand, support and agree with the SC 100% on the issue...I too missed them. I used past tense for a specific reason, as I don't even think twice about it now until someone brings the topic back up. I can guarantee that when I take the center seat tomorrow that I won't even feel a twinge of loss, the game is too engrossing for such a little thing to get in the way.

quote:Originally posted by Viper2000: ive run it at 120 for 30 minutes before. I mean radiation took over the ship after I decloaked but it didnt effect the system any. Of course the fact that no one on board needs a night light now is just an added bonus!

quote:Originally posted by Grayfox: my bad tyrn, i was thinking of the planet, not the system. again my apologies.Don't worry mistakes like that are easily made. <rp> Comms, get me Orion Fleet Command. It seems their grunts need a refresher on Nav chart reading. </rp> It was nice to see the Insurgent reaction to this little situation though, although I'm not sure whether ShoHashi is unsure of where New America is located or whether that was an attempt at disinformation

quote:Originally posted by Viper2000: Ok this comes outta nowhere but here it goes, how do I use flux fields? Carefully, really. Flux fields lead to three types of areas: Planetary systems, super novas, and black holes. The last category tend to solve all your maintenance problems with a loud bang! If you still have the desire to fly by flux, just run your craft right through it and it will do the rest. Note that sometimes it will drop you right back where you started instead of at one of the other "ends."

If my info is still current (which it may well not be) you should look in the Omicron Eridani system.Hehehe...it's nice to know that Wraith Fleet's intel is right on the money.....NOT!! Couldn't resist..Tyrn! LOL...I deserve that, like I said it's been far too long since I had occasion to curse Resnig and those blasted toothbrushes he keeps issuing the men as they go on duty.

quote:Originally posted by Viper2000: Im taking an upgraded nightstar class with a whole lotta supplies into Gammulan space for alittle fun. So far ive been all the way to Vega Eridani with my carrier and I have taken out several spacestations along the way without too much trouble. Ive never tried to attack the Gammulan space because of their high tech level, but im wondering if my tactic in the other sectors will work with the Gammulans. My tactic being cloaking, getting real close to the enemy station and firing at it till it SOSs then taking it over. I want to get all the way to Gamma one and then random the whole damn planet. Although it's been a long time since I last ventured that way, I'm fairly sure that your tactics will continue to serve you well right for all but possibly one station right in the heart of Gammulan territory.

quote:Originally posted by Grayfox: lmao ummm negative on that info tyrn. however with a little investigative research, he will find it for sure in the appendix. its in there, i know i found it, and now its in the hands of GALCOM. do the sherlock holmes approach Long Live The Fighters!!! As I feared, it's been nearly a year since I stepped down and I've only logged 72 game hours since then. Sad, very sad.

quote:Originally posted by Spaceghost: Thanks Papi I have tried your suggestion but when I tried to restore my game it kept kicking me back to the desktop. Any other suggestions people Please!!! The "problem" is that quite often, updates have required that save game formats change and so old save games will often either cause problems or cause the game to simply exit as you're experiencing.

I've been under impression that it works as designed. wot? If the station allows illegal items, you should be able to trade in them. Please give a scenario and I will check it out. It could be a bug. For e.g. Sygan allows the trading of illegal items. Try there. I can confirm it: Ter/Mil Capture Pixan and unable to trade in illegal wares. Thought it was a feature so I've never reported it.

quote:Originally posted by Vixef: Should know the answear to these questions, but don't know - here goes: 1. What's the difference between the autopilot beeing in "direct mode" and the autopilot being "under Mother's control"?I like to believe that Mother's control is better but have no proof for that. quote:continued 2. Situation: I have marines ready for combat and some intruders are beamed onto my CC. The intruders goes to sickbay, and I manually move my ready marines to sickbay to fight them. Do they go off duty (use the sickbays facilities -> goes off duty) or do they fight the intruders? NOTE: IF you have prepped your marines for combat, they will first disarm and then head to the MediBay if you order them there. It is far better to let them make their way to the MediBay on their own as they will not disarm in the process.

quote:Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: Thats as close to right as we are gonna get. Great interpretation Jag. Mark Twain was a smart man and wicked clever as well. My own favorite quote: " Man is the only animal that blushes or needs to" My other favorite Twainism is "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society. "

Free speech is protected under the Constitution in the US. A person is free to say exactly what they like but that person must also accept the consequences of doing so. If that means that one's show is cancelled, that's life. My personal view on free speech is very similar to that of Mark Twain: quote:Mr. Twain said It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience and the prudence never to practice either.

quote:Originally posted by Greg Miller: The best one was I made planet fall on Earth, and needed to find out how to get back to space. While I was thumbing through the manual, none of my crew carred enough to notify me I was heading for a mountain, and loosing altitude to boot. Oh well. That's priceless.

This whole situation is unacceptable to me and I wish I had seen news of this earlier. I'm in the process of dumping Intuit, anyone know of a good alternative to Quicken (no I don't want MS Money). Product can be either Linux or Windows based.

Roll calls, what is the fascination with rolls? I much prefer bagels.

There is a possibility that my retirement may well turn into a sabbatical instead and that I might well request that the GCV-Falcon be recommissioned.

The AI is amazing but it's dumber than it used to be and for good reason. The blasted thing used to take hostages and lock them up in the shuttles. The funny/odd/scary thing is that it wasn't supposed to do that!
