  1. You could swim to the coast (yeah, right). You could send a shuttle to pick you up. Or you could say "beam me up, Scotty!"
  2. I loved the show but I hated some characters, specially Apollo. Now I think about it I only liked two characters in the whole series: Adama & Starbuch (sp?). I don't think it's a good idea to bring the original crew back. I'd rather see a sequel with a new cast taking place some time after the original series. I hope they don't screw it up.
  3. Urza, are you talking about Episode 1 or Ep 2?
  4. No, I remember reading somewhere that there will only be ACM for the terran military commander career. I think the BC3k v2.0 ACM campaign will be ported to BCM, too. Then there are the Instant Action and Training Academy missions. Also, since the GBS has been (or will be, I'm not sure) released to the public, we can pretty much expect to find the experienced players creating their own missions and posting them here.
  5. $ilk, I think you misunderstood his questions (or maybe I did). The original Strike Pack was not supposed to run simultaneously with the rest of the BC engines. So if, e.g., your ship is under attack, once you fire the Strike Pack module, the exterior world would freeze, so to speak. Then you walk around, chase intruders, etc. When you're done, you return to your command chair and then the normal BC engines take over and the space battle continues. I think he was asking if the new concept for BCTE was like that of the SP, or if it would keep running the exterior world and updating the universe in real time while you are in first person mode within the ship, station, etc. And, for the joy of all of us, the answer is _YES_, according to what the SC said in the Dev Diary. Who cares if it takes some extra horsepower to run? Super-fast AMD processors are a bargain now. And by the time BCTE is completed, 1GHz will be the average clock speed out there. Oh, and BTW, SpotSD, just for your information, if there's something the SC really hates is to repeat himself. All of us had to learn that lesson the hard way, and even the most verterans here have had their fair share of "what kind of f*cking stupid question is that?". So don't take his response as something personal. If I asked something obvious I'd get the same reaction. I'd say that all of the beta testers have walked the way to the airlock at least once in their lives [ 08-31-2001: Message edited by: Hector Socas Navarro ]
  6. Yes, it will run the exterior world in real time. It will do everything BCM does _plus_ the ability to walk inside capital ships, bases and stations. Ain't that cool?
  7. voyager, if you'd like to pre-order BCM, you can send me a check and I'll use my credit card to place the pre-order for you at EB. Of course that means you'd have to trust me. If it's any help, I'm a reputated member of this community and have been around for several years (the oldest veterans and the Supreme Commander himself can confirm this). So if you decide to go ahead, just drop me a line.
  8. And then there's Cmdr Nava (Heh, maybe we should start copywriting nicknames. I remember another GCV Nemesis back in the BC3k times) [ 08-15-2001: Message edited by: Hector Socas Navarro ]
  9. quote: I am a felow canadian, but was born in america and parents from america. Hmmm, I thought Canada _IS_ in America. Like Argentina, Brazil and Colombia Maybe I should check again my old geography books from elementary school *runs and ducks for cover*
  10. Think about the explosion of the Death Star in StarWars when it just took a couple of torpedoes.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Delgard: Shot the missile down with a PTA laser or missile (stations, usually; PTA beams are hard to see) I think Delgard is probably right here. If you say you were firing at a stationary target I'm guessing you were shooting at a starstation or ODS system (although they are not completely stationary, they're orbiting). The laser shots are often hard to see and stations have plenty of turrets to try and shoot down your missiles (trust me, I learned this the hard way). quote: Perhaps you can return your missiles to get a refund. LOL!!
  12. You probably haven't read the documentation, as I remember to have seen mentioned that saved games don't work with the new patches. On a more constructive note, why don't you unpatch and go back to your old version if you are so upset? Back up your SAVE directory, unpatch or reinstall the previous version and you are ready to go.
  13. Yep. The new issue is out and there is an entire full page with the BCM ad. Cool!
  14. I'm guessing there will be just 1 CD. Can't see any reason to be messing around with more.
  15. quote: Possible? Yay or Nay? It is possible, but a real marine would do the job better because s/he has the proper training, equipment, etc.
  16. Bulldog, although this is not the proper forum, are you talking about the BC Millenium demo or one of the old versions?
  17. Hmm... I can't seem to submit my review. When I click on "continue" it takes me to a blank page and if I check the reviews page it hasn't been updated. Has anybody else experienced this problem?
  18. ahem... I hope my question will not upset you guys but ... errr ... how old are y'all?
  19. Also, the crash when docking with the station can be fixed by downloading a small file from this site. Do some search on this forum and you'll find your answers.
  20. Are you running with the /d parameter?
  21. Listen to Jaguar I normally proceed that way, too. The key is to have plenty of Vagrants, so make sure you use your shuttle's bays as well.
  22. Use your cloaking device wisely!
  23. quote:Originally posted by Drastic: but when zeroing the throttle it stops dead in an instant. Hope that thing has airbags! I've noticed that too, but it's no biggie for me. I always have my ship in AP/AI mode and I just bark orders to my crew (makes me feel like I'm actually commanding, not piloting, my carrier), and normally you don't run into that problem in this mode. quote: Also interface-related, I would've liked Fleet C&C to be able to select groups of ships at once rather than ordering one at a time. (If I had some ham, I could have ham and eggs, if I had some eggs.) You'll be glad to know that has been addressed. Check the version control file. quote: One of the few crashes it suffered happened right when I was about to dock into the SOS'ing crippled Ter/Mil pigdog station. A couple of bug were discovered (and fixed) after the release of episode I. I believe these bugs are the only instances where the game will crash. The first one is related to some missing Station frontend that the SC forgot to include in the demo (I suspect this is the one that crashed your game), and you can fix it by downloading a small file and placing it in your BCM directory. The other one is related to the game trying to write debug info into an inexisting file. To fix it you must create a new shortcut with the /d1 option. Search these forums for more details. quote: Looking forward to future episodes, particularly the ones involving planetary operations. Heh, like the rest of us
  24. Nah Get the BCM demo. You'll be blown away!
  25. Does it power up? Maybe your power source is fried.
