  1. Iraq Body Count
  2. destroyed cargo bay 2, logistix computer, tactical computer are loopholes that prevent you from repairing your ship. I think the main computer does that too, but not sure.
  3. Just an FYI - i found out that here internet services and products remain tax-free. Good thing.
  4. well since my first post i got a new mobo (a asus A7N8X deluxe nforce2) with an onboard Nvidia Soundstorm .. probably the best onboard soundcard there is .. Dolby 5.1 support (with all the necessary plugs on the mobo of course) EAX3 support ... very good sound.
  5. hmm ...
  6. demo was resheduled to be released after UC hits the shelves.

  8. Remove specular lightning in halo. it eats fps ALOT. Removes the glossy look on some objects.

  10. I think the assualt rifle in halo is kickass, it shoots so damn fast! .. shame it mostly sucks in mp.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Anyway, as of ten minutes ago, its now implemented the Q3A way and its going to take some getting used to. The crosshair remains fixed at the center (regardless of POV) blah, blah, though it does drift during idle animations. So, you LADIES would have to compensate for the drift. Its realistic and I'm not planning on changing this aspect. So, we can all go home now, right? /me claps and goes home I,m already home! I've been in my living room all along!
  12. A cruel way to cultivate very deep hate for your parents.
  13. quote:Until you posted, I was under the impression that the general consensus was that moving the mouse up/down, should shift the POV *and* the crosshair. This way, if you point up, you can fire at the sky (which you will also be looking at) - and if you point down, you would be firing at the ground. All subject to range restrictions (e.g. you can't look directly straight up) of courseI think another quote is the best way to answer. quote:i think the issue here is communication, i get the feeling S.C. is already thinking of doing what we have all been screaming about but he doesn't use layan's terms to describe it so you guys get freaked out and make more quake analogies. which by the way, i'm sure S.C. knows what you're talking about when you say "the standard for fps games" you've just got to realize that this game has about a million years of simulation thinking behind it so S.C. is arguing from a completely different perspectiveCommunication. Talking about the same thing but no one gets it quote:The fact is, most fps games render the gun as a separate entity from the character mesh. So, in actual fact, it can be handled independently of the character - hence nothing you do is affected by the animation (e.g. idle pose)That,s my "second method" i was referring too. the practical point of that method is that you can allow yourself to use higher resolution models and use different (fancier) animations for when reloading/changing modes on your own weapon .. while other soldiers use a generic animation (hell other people in PS seem to reload the striker as if it was an assault rifle, even thought the magazine is on the top of the back ..) quote:In my engine, the attachments (to the bone) are part of the character and rendered/handled in one pass (as if they are the same entity). So if the character mesh is moving (i.e. chest heaving while breathing during idle), this affects the entire mesh - especially the bones to which the weapon model is attached.Yes, that's the Operation flashpoint way. quote:Anyway, I think I'm gonna play it safe and go the Q3A route. It makes no difference from my perspective because either method (old or new) works just fine for me and I'm used to both.I don't mind. I actually almost prefer that way than else.
  14. Most games feature idle movement, i.e. breathing, but when idle the crosshair could have an override (I believe that's seen in operation flashpoint, the gun moves slightly, but the crosshair stays at the same place) - but my point was as it was stated, to have the crosshair always at the center of the screen no matter where i am aiming. Then again, the FP view of someone (the gun in your hand in your screen) in many games is often different to what other players actually see - i believe that's a method used to bypass the problem you are describing (did you ever noticed you can look down, see your shadow, but no legs?). Indeed if the view has to follow whereever the gun aims at when the character is breathing, walking or else, it would be hard for the eye.
  15. Hey, can is suggest something for those turrets? In aces high, when you took control of a bomber's turret the ship would fly level and you could use the twist on the joystick to make the bomber turn. It helped to dodge shots and manoeuver that way. That is all.
  16. Games i play ---- Planetside The only futuristic online war simulator. Much beyond the FPS element, you don't need twitchy reflex to pwn, but it helps. Free 7-day trial here Halo PC Decent Action game. The story is cool but nothing deep. Linear, repetitive singleplayer, but there's nothing like driving a Warthog in the hills Especially when you have fellow marines gunning .. they sound like rednecks at times. MP is much more quakelike, but the vehicles are really cool. Demo here Call of duty demos There are 2 demos out there, one here and one was leaked from a PCgamer exclusive. Call of Duty is the next MOHAA, although it seems more based on teamplay (AI soldiers). It's REALLY cool, looks kickass and the guns fire at realistic rates (the MOHAA mg42 fired slow compared to the real thing) It's coming out at the end of the month, or around that time. Homeworld 2 Follow up to the first game, it has a vastly improved interface, and much easier fleet control. Fighters and corvettes now come in squadrons, and fleet tactics are much easier to handle. Technological availability is much more based around modules you build on your mothership, carriers and shipyards. A kickass looking and sounding 3D space stategy game, it's pretty complicated if you're only used to 2D RTS games but easy to learn. Ships move and shoot in 3D, larger vessels feature several gun turrets with can all track different targets (turrets that actually track targets FYI) .. love it .. Demo available here - it has a few bugs, including that it sometimes won't restart after you quit, but not too bad. .. not sure what you will like or dislike, but these are the games i play oh and BTW - Unless you're an EQ fan, you will not like the bug ridden, imbalanced, nerfed to hell SWG once the novelty wears off.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Government taxes are legalized extortion. You don't pay, you go to jail. Legalized extortion, no if's and's or but's. Payed protection, you pay the government, you don't go to jail. Nice huh? How else the government would have money to pay for the services it provides, i.e military, law enforcement, health care or whatever?
  18. *shrugs*
  19. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: quote:Originally posted by Epsilon 5: This really annoyed me in BCM Then prepare to continue being annoyed - especially if you have nothing better to do. Hope you enjoy it. Oh i still enjoy planetside, and Call of duty is coming soon. Not gonna annoy me.
  20. quote:No. The game is idiot proof. I think. ROFL not even pac-man or tetris are idiot proof I have a question about the FP part - when you aim vertically, does the head goes up and down along with the gun or the head will keep looking forward while the gun moves? This really annoyed me in BCM
  21. Man, the pika thing was just .. disturbing but the pistachio one was hilarious
  22. quote:Originally posted by conker424: DEMO....who needs a demo? when you already KNOW uc will rule not everyone does. that's the point of a demo.
  23. There's a 15% sales tax here (7% federal 7.5% provincial, cumulative) but I'm not sure it applies to planetside for me.
  24. Looks like a nice parody
  25. as long as it doesn't come more than a few weeks later it's not going to have a negative effect.
