btw i returned the a7n8x-x .. it was a value version of the a7n8x that doesn't even support dual channel memory or enable DDR .. which is why i got a deluxe now Did cost me 60 more dollars (cnd, about 40 us) but i was told it's one of the best (if not THE best) mobo for a amd cpu.

Jaguar was right. I got msblast .. within 3 hours of the time i reinstalled windows. I got everything solved now. Now in the ultra large fight in planetside where i would get 5 fps, i get 20 check out my uber computer Planning on getting a All-in-Wonder Radeon 9800pro soon ...

ok i found HOW the problem starts, but i can't figure out (yet) why and how to solve it. At a random moment the file svchost.exe crashes, and my clipboard/drag'n'drop troubles start. I would copy/paste an url here, but, hey .. hmm for information on the file search the microsoft knowledge base, article #250320

ok i was told the a7n8x-x mobo is a value version of the normal one, and my friend (who works at the store i bought the mobo but couldn,t tell me in time) told me i should get the deluxe version, which i did, and returned the cheap one. now it works. now a much more odd problem (the second one) is that i cannot drag and drop anything and my clipboard doesn't work (any connection?)

Ok, this is [bleep]ed up. Yesterday i got my new hardware, an Asus A7N8X-X nforce2 mobo and a xp2800+ cpu. After playing with cables and checking basic mistakes i was able to start the computer, and eventually reinstall windows (no reformat, delete old windows style) since you have to everytime you change the mobo. I have 2 problems. the first one, the most important one, is that my computer FSB is stuck in 166mhz mobe. despite having the right jumper set i cannot choose more than 200mhz fsb, but that speed doesn,t make my computer start. I guess the DDR system doesn't work (166x2 = 333). Same for my 333mhz memory that doesn't want to go faster than 166mhz. My cpu is stuck at 916mhz, while it should be 2250mhz or so. Any pointers on how to enable DDR or otherwise fix my hardware? Second problem. My windows it all messed up. Even if i want to reinstall with a full reformat, I CAN'T. why? because I'm unable to copy anything or drag anything anywhere, which mean i can't make backups of anything! Any way to solve that or circumvent the issue?

balancing issues are some of the worst headaches any game developper will get. Not only it's HARD to do a good balance, but players will whine and whine over and over again. Planetside is getting a HUGE balance pass very soon (they are still working on creating a feasible patch for the test server AFAIK), but I'm sure people will keep whining over again after. Balance is not exclusively about keeping 2 ships/weapons at equal levels, but to have a plausible ratio of how many X will be needed to destroy that other thing. A single marine may not be able to take on a starbase, but if 10 can do it, that's too easy. Similar situation in planetside as the anti-vehicle weapon of one of the factions (an energy beam cannon, the lancer) is currently more effective at sniping infantry than the sniper rifle itself ... And it's even worse if a weapon designed for some task is innefective at it. Derek has, as i have seen so far, changed the balance on 1 thing : spacestations. They went from ridiculously easy to destroy to plain impossible (i have sent fleets of cruisers and carriers to stations (20+ ships) and they all blew up before getting in firing range) unless you cloak - in which case it stays ridiculously easy. So balance is far from achieved.

without checking stats, I am pretty sure that what cause most accidents are drunkeness (sp?) and lack of attention (i.e. driving & talking on the cellphone). Then you have mecanical issues. Of course, a not-so-good eye is a source, but we have more dangerous causes we should take care of first.

well don't expect to be able to download HL2 anytime soon after it's released *g* everyone will want to.

unimpressive graphics. doesn't spark any interest personally. Battlecruisers are indeed a class of naval warships, and many games use the battlecruiser* calling *pic from Homeworld 2, the BC is the big one, the smaller one is a destroyer

sounds interesting, just one inquiry, can the searchlight on the marauder be toggled on/off or aimed at a different point, else, umm, why a searchlight?

find your install cd and do a "repair install". No need to backup anything, but it usually helps for me.

I blame mostly the parents of gaming-inspired criminals. Kids are left to their own without control and they come up with wild ideals. Of course sometimes it's the kid too, but I find it stupid anytime a parent sues a company because the M-rated games his teenage kids played inspired them to do criminals acts. Well duh, you shouldn't have allowed them. I play tons of combat games like many here, and i couln't hurt an animal (no, I'm not vegetarian). I know what's real i know what's not.
