quote:Originally posted by thanatos: The only C.R.S. I know is "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome". C.R.S. is the problem you can get with your gastrointestinal tract when you eat all that monosodium glutamate mixed in with your little shrimpies and your bowels turn to water. Somehow I doubt this is what Pirate is referring to, but it would explain a few things. LMAO!!! Um... On to some of pirate's questions. Derek is in his 30's, I believe. (IIRC) About his position, (and I semi-quote from his sig), "President of 3000AD Inc. and Designer/Lead Developer of The Battlecruiser Series". He/we are used to a pretty tight ship around here. And we've been dealing with a lot of stress lately. The pressures of detractors (people who write libel and other lies) on the internet, and other stuff is sorta wearing us down. Don't worry about yourself though; by participating on the boards, you'll eventually get the hang of it. Just stick with us. About your cargo disappearing problem, make a new post in the "Cargo" thread you made earlier. It's okay to change the subject, just as it applies to the topic name. We're still going to be talking about cargo--just not that first problem you indicated. Just a tip, so you don't make what seems to be multiple threads on similar/alike/identical problems or such. Oh, and about all that "C.R.S." stuff. He might be talking about carpel-tunnel-syndrome. That'd make it "C.T.S.". I mean, that "R" key is right next to the "T". Don't really know if this is right, though. Nova, over and out. [ 01-18-2002: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

quote:I think a really cool game would be Derek Nukem 3D. Hm... I couldn't find my PC version of the game, but I did find that old 64 copy. Scanned it in, too! You asked for it: Can someone say: "All your Shirley are belong to us!!!" (This crack/medpack induced moment has been brought to you by Nova. Have a nice day.) A few questions: Where can I pre-order? What kind of system requirements will it have? Will it have bullet-time? Will there be a PS2 port? (They did it to Max Payne and Half-Life....) And where can I pre-order? ---Man, if there ever was a game like that, I'd probably go so off the wall with laughter, that I'd be locked up for life.

Hehe, that reminds me of one thread here. Can you imagine that one of the most famous and popular epic RP's (actually the first true epic) went all the way through, and everyone kept the Droidans called Drodians? It eludes most of the vets how they could have done that RP, and not catch that mistake. Woah--1994. I was just a tot (well, it's infact more like small kid) back then. (Born in '87, thank you very much.) Dang, I didn't even have my first computer. That's ancient history to me. [ 01-16-2002: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

I seemed to agree with most of the review. Especially with that part about tutorials. Most of the newbies around here seem to really be trying, and yet--they can't really understand how some things work. Took me a while to figure out everything (I don't even think I know every system yet) about how to command a BC. I'm just itching to create an interactive DHTML or even Flash applet/thing that displays a mock-up of a BC cockpit and the systems, that shows you a pop-up and description/usage of every system. And after that, would follow FC/SC/OC ones, and FPS. And then, I'd make more guides. Damnit--I've been too damn lazy. But since I already lost all of my other BC projects with a HD problem (Orion Fleet Handbook would be the biggest), I could start on the new project first. Hm.. It's been a while since I've updated my newbie documents. (November, infact. Don't hurt me, please. ) When I finish getting my system bearings, I just might..... Or I'll just go lazy again. Anyway, about the learning curve, in-game. Yeah, I thought it was slightly complicated. Okay, a little bit past slightly. I think if some people would head over to the support forum and hit the newbie forums, they'd be able to find their answers. The newbie forums were a new addition to the boards, mostly because we expected BC newbies to be confused on some things. (Sheesh, I learned everything the hard way.) It's the best place to ask if you don't get something. You will almost never get a RTFM from me. Some of the others will insist on you registering, and I will too. But my way of BBS life is help first. The community itself has probably helped lower the learning curve. Now if only more people looked at the community...... quote:I understand that the graphics thing has been beaten to death, but I can't base a review on what others have said. It would be difficult for me to say "Let's skip the graphics issue, since it's been written about" True. I don't know about the fact that that's one of the big hitters of losing points in reviews nowadays. (And multiplayer.) Ah well. I just wanna see what's in store for XP1. The graphics were never anything important for me, in almost any game, and I'll just stand neutral on the graphics--not eye-popping, but not bad either. Welcome here Noman. Wanna look around and critique the other reviews? (They've got their own threads.) Nova (the Newbie Welcome Wagon), over and out.

That'll teach them to mess with us. Long live Orion Fleet!

ROTFLMAO!!! Hm.. I usually see comments like that coming, but.... *bursts out in laughter before finishing*

LOL!!!

quote:Originally posted by Steve Schacher: I've seen this before. Just asking, mind you, but is this a playbalance issue? I've seen ships get destroyed before they can do anything because they are coming out of hyperspace and are immobile for a few seconds. Should they come out of hyperspace slightly out of range of the stations/ODS's to give them a fighting chance? Nah. Realism factor. The ship de-materializes and materializes in realtime. Or that's how it used to be RPed. I like it where it is, though. [ 01-13-2002: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

The cargo pod in Logistix: how do I use it?
Cmdr Nova replied to Joel Schultz's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
quote:Oh well. When it takes 1 hour to go throught all the websites you always go and that this forum is the last place.. and when it's 3 am... you tend to skip words and miss the meaning of some sentences... *shudders* I get that, too. -
quote:Originally posted by R_wilco: But seriously, I'm not even sure you CAN get that probe out of obsidia, my attempts have failed...maybe you'll have better luck. But take something BIG. Have you tried kicking the transporter? How about hitting your Tactical Officer with mind bullets (look around the net for "Tenacious D") until she forces the transporter to beam it in?

Creating a Fleet
Cmdr Nova replied to CommanderJohnson's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
What happened to all my Indie rights campaigns back in the day? (I'm sure Outlaw remembers.) Like This? I may be with GalCom, but I still watch over the Indies like an older brother. And if/when I get around to making a second AE (like those Gammulan/GalCom or Insurgent crossover guys), it'll be an Indie. Wait and see, gentlemen. We may start another picketline in front of the UFN building. -
quote:After recovering from these losses and placing prisoners in the brig, I began a survey of planet Stargazer. I am uncertain what caused it, but my Tacops computer wouldn't function correctly, and any vessels I attempted to send to the surface couldn't be controlled adequately. I, too had experienced that TacOps malfunction in my vessel at first. It was corrected in the v1.0.03 patch recently issued out by GalCom (and all newer patches). Hm... I still have yet to file my reports.

My friend is trying to convince me to get this game...... Saw the site and all, but I can't exactly afford it ATM. Hm... Aw well. Still waiting for BCO, anyhoo.

*grin* Ferigad is using Jerold Keenan's pic. We've got another identity crisis here!

Good to see you, Outlaw. Go register on the BCC Boards right now. That's where the party's at now.

Appendix->artifacts.html quote:Some artifacts such as the HSD, ENM, PAD and TMCD, all have indicators on the BridgeViewer. When these artifacts are in your cargo bay, they are green and when all conditions that deem them operable are met, they are light green. quote:It creates a menu of regions on the Bridgeviewer in TACOPS where the desired destination can be selected. Simply click on the HSD symbology on the BridgeViewer, select the region and the ship will be sent there.

quote:Originally posted by Guardian452: SC, I know the patch deletes saved games, but does it mean that 1.0.0.4 RC1 saves are incompatible with 1.0.0.4 Final? (I backed up my saves in case I could use them) Thanks No. (Or at least I doubt it over 90%.) The digital signature check for save files was added after RC1.

Yep, I don't know if it's some runover with the cheats, but there won't be an icon that shows up, like the appendix says. Just hover your mouse to the very left of the section that says "Loc: xxxx". You also need to have your officers at the proper AI levels, remember.

Missile performance question
Cmdr Nova replied to Guardian452's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
quote:Originally posted by Guardian452: Nova, In the Appendix I noticed that the pitch for the STS Firestar is 10. Is this missing a 0? The appendix on my site? Um... Yeah, it's outdated. It's the one that used to be available for download; back in the BCM Demo days. I haven't had the time to copy all of the new files to the server. Sorry for the confusion. -
I don't either, but IIRC, it was removed. The files are still there for the chatter, but you just can't hear it. Either that, or I'm having a problem, too. Haven't given the chatter much thought, so I just now noticed it.

Missile performance question
Cmdr Nova replied to Guardian452's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Out-of-game, it would be possible. (RP) Like attatch a nuclear warhead to a conventional missile. But you know..... Why not try and position yourself so that your OTS's flight path to the planet, brings it straight into the heart of a station? Crude, and probably won't work, but who can blame me for talking?
