quote:With my new computer I'll install the mandrake linux Tux rules! quote:Now I must know if "wine" will work with BCM. Depends on which OS features are used by BCM. Emulators can only emulate so much of a system. In any case, it's possible. I have heard stories from Uni students that some Linux users have managed to run Windows 98 as an application within Linux ( ). quote: I too, am a 98SE user, and I am sooooooo ready to dump it in the trash for the stability of an OS based on Win NT code. Why don't you just set up a dual boot of Win98SE and WinNT4? quote: Personally I'm getting ready to kiss my Dos games good bye. I loved them. I'm playing the last few of them as we speak. But I can't take it anymore! I need stability. I'm keeping Win95 on another computer for DOS games. It never ceases to amaze me how stable Win95 can be when you only have 5 software packages installed.

I'm confused. Wouldn't BCM make you sleep less if you had it?

I was the one who asked about the pilots. My favourite is "Emissary" (DS9 pilot). I have only seen the TNG finale, "All Good Things..." (TOS didn't have one). It was good.

I know it's not a strategy game, but has anyone here played Zero Wing? I've heard and seen a lot of things about the intro (including a rip of the intro itself), but what is the game like? Heh, I couldn't resist asking this question because I saw the AYB music video in its entirety for the first time today. All your base are belong to us!

quote: If your story comes out Macon I doubt anyone will want to use the transporters. Their pattern would be so screwed up that they'll materialize as a cat or something. Fendi, you just described a typical TNG episode right there. Transporting in TNG was the dumbest plot device ever conceived. It cured Polaski of the rapid aging disease, then its medicinal abilities were totally forgotten for a few seasons. Let's not also forget the episode where Picard and a shuttle crew were materialized as 12 year olds. Of course, there's also the transporter's uncanny ability to fail when an away team needs to be rescued until the exact moment that a ship explodes (in Star Trek, too much interference is never enough ).

Ebola-style killer virus sweeps Afghan border
Menchise replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Chatter
I totally doubt that anyone had their hand in this. It sounds like a typical outbreak that's been worsened by the current situation along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. When you have a contagious virus of this kind, all it takes is a dozen or so unsuspecting carriers among a few thousand refugees to create a disaster. Remember that cases were first reported in June and Pakistan's border was closed in September. How many carriers migrated between that time? [ 10-04-2001: Message edited by: Menchise ] -
I guess it's my turn now, Nova. Although I registered about three years ago, and started visiting the site in 1997, I took a long break from the forum between Jan 2000 (I think) and April 2001. Now I have more fun than ever. *entering flashback mode* I saw many new names on my return, and I was surprised by how many of those new names were actually veterans who changed usernames (you know who you are ). I'm currently experimenting with a different tactic in capturing stations, which also works as a defensive tactic in Wing Commander when you're outnumbered and outgunned by a cap ship's fighter escort. It's called the "Orbit of Doom". You do the math. By the way, I captured Idan in the Zilon region and I didn't get any EPs or medals (grr!). Is it because I was playing in Ter/Ins FF instead of Galcom?

This thread has inspired me to develop my own Genre Definition methods, including how to compact long names, if I ever get my game review site online, that is. -

I think it's a little funny how a system as strategically important as Sirius is being held by the Raiders, especially when it's nextdoor to Sol. It's no wonder that Galcom has no allies or bases in the Credian Quadrant.

When you destroy a starstation, starbase, or an orbital defense system, it's rebuilt over time (you can actually see the model gradually reconstructing itself). I recommend capturing the station instead of destroying it (this is done by docking with the station when it's emitting an 'SOS'). When you capture the station, Raiders from other regions will try to recapture or destroy it, so you'll need to stick around for the repairs. Apart from the changes in diplomacy toward the particular station (it's now hostile toward Raiders instead of friendly), I'm not sure about the other effects that capturing it would have on the region.

Thinking overtime now. Looking at the different elements... --------------------------------------- Perspective = MultiView (First Person and 3D) Time = Real Time Environment Base = MultiBased (Land, Naval, Air, Space) It has strategic combat and trade --------------------------------------- Hmm... MultiView Real Time MultiBased Strategic Combat and Trade Simulation (MVRTMBSCTS) More to come (probably). -
Hmm...should I write about my optimistic predictions, or my pessimistic predictions?
