perhaps this is an incredibly dumb question, but not being a programmer and therefore not 'in the know' of the jargon, I would just like to ask; does this mean that certain aspects of BCM, for example the First person mode can be made into a full campaign all on it's own? or does the entire game have to be changed for the 'mini' mod to function? sorry if this sounds really stupid....

personally I love the simpsons and Futurama, but frankly the humour in Family Guy makes me consistently belly laugh a lot more than both of the other shows. Also bear in mind that Family Guy is Basically written by (I believe) 3 people, not a team of about a dozen for the simpsons and Futurama, and I am consistently surprised and mildly (and very pleasantly) shocked by the jokes at times. I think that's what counts in humour, when you go away from the show with "I can't believe they just did that, but damn that was hilarious!" I was also a fan of 'the Critic' and was very disapointed when they shelved that one. For those that don't know, it was a simpsons spin off starring (mostly) John Lovitz from SNL. Later, Lucas

well, I guess we will have to see the show before we can say "the circle is now complete" ...or rather the 'orbs' are.

personally, I'm not crazy about the idea of rehashing a model that was used in a previous show, or a design of a ship that is clearly out of place (in my opinion) of the time line in question. The Phoenix was a heavily modified ballistic missile with retractable nacelles to allow it more aerodynamics for achieving orbit. I'm really not sure of when the show takes place after the events in 'First Contact', but I'm pretty sure that the 'evolution' of the ship designs in Star Trek went from Cylindrical hull designs, to spherical 'saucer sections' (as seen in the Pasteur (from 'All Good Things..." which was a recommissioned pre TOS era ship)) to the now familiar dish shaped saucer sections, and then the more streamlined 'neckless' designs, like Voyager and the defiant, akira, etc. I, for one, believe that the ship should look more like a ship that had preassembled parts that were ferried into orbit, assembled and launched. That way, I think common sense would dictate that the ship would essentially look cylindrical, and therefore more true to the era in which the story takes place. A very good friend of mine designed a ship which takes this philosophy and I am currently creating it in 3d with all the amenities, shuttles, interiors, working airlocks and comprehensive and realistic instrumenation and crew stations with believable treknology for that era. It's actually a huge project, and I am getting nothing for it...except perhaps eventual notoriety in the 3d community. If any of you have ever visited Scifi arts before it disappeared, you may be aware of my ISD project. Anyway, hopefully the story will be good. I know I will give it a chance as I give almost everything...at least once. Afterall, anyone here who is a B5 fan must agree that the pilot was horribly plastic in nature (all of it) but those of us who stuck it out were rewarded by it's rich story arc and excellent acting...not to mention the realistic newtonian flight dynamics of the ships. I love those Furies! By the way, I recall (it seems ages ago now) that someone made a comment about hoping this took place during the Romulan Wars....I believe it does. My fingers are bleeding!

hehhe, she's getting a little longer in more than her 'teeth', if you know what I mean. Spawn would look really great, especially if they can stick to the original idea. But there are so many great ideas out there. I have a question...why hasn't there been any movies made of Larry Niven or Jerry Pournelle's books? Footfall would make a great series. Legacy of Heorot would make a great movie and so would The Mote in God's Eye...then there's the Janissaries and the Man Kzin Wars....none of those have even been touched. /edit moi speeling baad /edit [ 07-23-2001: Message edited by: Luc ]

I love that show! and am exstatic that fox had (finally) the good sense to bring it back. what do you people think?

ouch. I remember when Wing Commander came out in theatres, people went to see it primarily for one reason...the first big screen preview of The Phantom Menace, and then the majority of people walked out.

yeah, believe me, I try to absorb as much cgi content I can muster (believe it or not, I haven't yet had a chance to see Final Fantasy, but I will be going this weekend for sure. I just wish they would make a cgi tv show that airs later (like 10 pm) and content like the Spawn comic (or animated series, not that horrible movie).

I realize that it doesn't have the scope of the previous games mentioned, but Activision's Battlezone was tons of fun (the first one, not so much the 2nd one). Dark Reign was really good, but the end was a letdown. I haven't finished Dark Reign 2 yet, but so far I don't feel like vomiting...

well, I believe that if you are on the east coast, fox (buffalo) has it really early in the morning, and otherwise it's on the cartoon network (at least it is in canada). However I do believe that the show is no longer being made. It's a shame because Foundation Imaging does incredible CG work (just look at the SFX in the last few seasons of voyager...plot not withstanding of course). I'm looking forward to the next CG aimated show that's bound to come along. and I desperately hope that it isn't too much for really little kids.

that's hilarious, the EXACT same thing happened to me when I bought HW a few months ago at CompuSmart in downtown vancouver....I couldn't say no, and it really is a great game....the only trick now is to find Cataclysm....

hi, This is my first post here, and I don't have a question concerning bc3k or bcm....yet. I just wanted to say a few words to Dr. Smart and his developement team for their incredible persistence in the most awe inspiring product I have ever seen. I have followed all the developements that have transpired over the years with great interest. Please don't mistake me for a sycophantic boot lick, but I have tremendous respect for anyone who sticks to their guns on things that they believe in, especially when it's an idea that has never before been attempted or equalled. I remember that one of the first games I ever played was elite on the old bbc beeb, and that game blew my mind...and it still does compared to the other sappy nose taffy that was oozing on the market at that time. Never since then have I seen ANY game that even came close to the freedom and complexity of that game (together), don't get me wrong, many games have claimed it, but they all fell short in some way or another. Games like Privateer, Privateer 2, I-War, etc were all good games in their own way, but they lacked the dynamics and non linear replayability of the original Elite or it's followup games (even the much panned First Encounters), and thus left me with a feeling of disappointment and perhaps even a little ripped off. When I first heard about bc3k (from the Strategy Plus magazine...which I still have ) in '92, I almost had to change my shorts, the scope, the realism, the whole idea was exactly what I was looking for. I think it's a bloody shame about what happened, and I personally think it is incredible that you have stuck with it after all that has happened, and I can't applaud you enough for staying with your vision. Your persistence and perfectionism should be rewarded a hell of a lot more than you have been. I just wanted to say these things (as I'm sure you have already heard much if not all them from others here) because I feel that I have at least a small amount of kinship in the area of persistence and perfectionism in 3d modelling, and my job in general. I wish you the best and anticipate great things from you. I am practically shaking with anticipation at the release of BCM. keep up the great work Dr. Smart, it's too bad there aren't enough people like you in any industry, let alone the (for the most part) the woefully disappointing gaming industry. sincerely, Lucas
