  1. To mark my 1000th post, I tells ya he's bluffing. But if not, it doesnt really matter. He doesnt know the half of what we've got going on. Nods and winks to those that know.
  2. Fire up your ICQ madam!
  3. Im of the opinion that most forum users are smart enough to work out how to get to the website, then to the interview link, and then onto Mike's 15 minutes of fame. Then again, I could be mistaken ...
  4. The first of which are now up at the Orion Fleet Website. Featuring none other than Vice Admiral aramike himself, this no nonsense interview gives a brief insight into the making of the muppet. I mean man, man. [ 09-09-2001: Message edited by: Blades ]
  5. Newbie basics? Thats why I hired you Nova. Now, pen to paper young man.
  6. Yeah, we got that. We call it a Nova. [Theatrical Opening]Curtains part, enter Commander Nova, stage right.[/Theatrical Opening] [ 09-09-2001: Message edited by: Blades ]
  7. Eclipse is quite correct. Dont join Orion. We're already bigger, better and brimming over with talent. Give the other fleets a chance - they need quality commanders. May I suggest The Insurgency? They really need help.
  8. I've corrected a slight oversight and enabled full use of FP extensions on all orionfleet.com sub domains. So, if you guys wanna go the FP2000 way, you can no do so. Also, I've set up rp.orionfleet.com for Nova now, and ftp log in details should be in your inbox by the time this is published. After some thinking, I've decided to put in place certain conditions to unify all sites uploaded to orionfleet.com sub domains. This is to keep the browser aware that each sub-domain they surf to is still part of the Orion fleet whole. These conditions will be posted on the main OFWSF later today, and I expect everyone to adhere to them.
  9. Whenever the fleets were established, they should be left as is. Dont go messing with history. Even though when we all first started playing the game (Well, us vets anyway) the fleets didnt exist, in the BC timeline, they exist from the points previously detailed. Best course of action is this :- Assume either that the participants hadnt been assigned to a fleet from commision date (04/04/3000) or that they were on detatched duty. Simple.
  10. [RP] Commander Savages Quaters GCV-Tsunami in Drydock, GalCom HQ 23:40 04/04/3000 “… computer, play back last log entry.” Tweedle “.. and that pretty much brings us up to date. So I have a ship, a crew and absolutely no clue as to what the hell I’m doing here. Oh yeah, and the Academy Commandandt? He’s gone into therapy. End Log.” Savage groaned at the sound of his own tired voice and flung himself back onto his mattress and folded his arms behind his head. He looked up at the grey ceiling above him and pondered his immediate future. The recording of his memoires had taken a little over six hours in total. Six hours of hard graft, half truth’s and exaggerations that had explained his unique re-assignment from File Clerk to commander of a Battlecruiser. Of course, most of it had been true … the desire to be more than he was, the blackmailing of the Academy Commandandt, even his confinement on board an Insurgent warship and his eventual rescue by the Wily Corsair – just a few of the more derogatory and heroic moments had been exaggerated a tad. Not to worry, thought Savage, by the time I get this published, Im sure I’ll be far more important, brave and heroic than now. The average reader wouldn’t notice the inconsistencies … And what will you do now? cried out a little voice from inside his brain. This startled young commander Savage a wee bit. He bolted upright and stared directly in front of him, too frightened to risk further movement, even more scared of the prospect of allowing his eyes to wander outside of it’s immediate field of view and actually see something he really didn’t want to notice. Ok ok ok …. You’re tired, it’s been a long haul to get you here, you’re just a little bit tired. Just your imagination … theres nobody here with you. That’s right Karl, just the two of us … Brave commander Savage of the GCV-Tsunami made a noise not unlike that of a little girl jumping away from the fright of having a bug land on her nose and fell in a heap at the foot of his bed. He scampered on all fours for a moment, turning in circles and eventually bumping his head into something remarkably solid and stopped abruptly. As he careered off to one side, his vision became colourful and he felt a curious, warm sensation spreading over his torso before he became acutely aware of a grotesque stickiness at the back of his neck. Had anybody have walked into his quarters at that point, they would have been forgiven for thinking that the occupant was a bumbling idiot. They would have seen this starship commander lying nearly unconscious with the back of his head in a plate of warm spagetti and his groin drenched with luke warm coffee from a large mug that had somehow fallen into his lap. Savage, never one to linger in a precarious position lifted his head and surveyed the gloomy room around him. Everything appeared to be as it should, his uniform pressed and mounted in a small at the far wall, an oak breakfast table nestled aside the viewport a couple of steps from his bed, even wall where he had recently mounted his command assignment instructions was as it should have been. Yet, something was not quite right at club Savage. Something was ….. wrong. He took a moment, but eventually plucked up the courage to force himself to think. Hello? Still here. Savage shrieked again, this time more like a wounded animal than the little girl he previously emulated. This time, however, he didn’t bolt. He remained perfectly still, despite the fact that he desperately wanted to get as far away from the voice he heard as humanly possible. Sadly, fear induced paralysis held him firmly in place. “Who are you?” said Savage out loud, surprising himself as he uttered the words that he was even capable of coherent speech. It’s me numbnuts, your inner voice. My inner voice? Yes, your inner voice. Savage blinked. Something wasn’t right. You cant be my inner voice, thought Savage. This is my inner voice. Savage heard a groaning sound. Oddly enough, it seemed to come from within his own head. You can have more than one inner voice you know. Savage shook his head and became aware of how fast his heart was beating. “Not possible.” He again said out loud. And why’s that? asked the voice in his head again. Because only crazy people have voices in their heads. That’s why. Savage awaited a response. Then he waited a bit longer. Hello? Still here. Savage resisted the urge to squeal once again, and decided instead to get mad at himself. Why did you go quiet? I was giving you a moment to let the irony of the situation dawn on you. What do you want? thought Savage. It took a moment for the newcomer to respond. Same as you I guess. Oh, and to make your life a living hell. WHAT?!? The new voice seemed to retreat a little bit. Sheesh, that was a joke. You don’t seem to have a very good grasp on humor, do you? Savage ignored the voice inside his head. What are you? There was groaning again. I already told you. Im your inner voice. The other, inner voice. Im the part of you that’s devious, sarcastic, cruel to small fury animals, likes to blackmail upstanding GalCom citizens, blow up Insur- Shut up! Shut up! Shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuup! Ok, ok …. Sheesh … you don’t have to be such a grouch about it. Savage forced himself to his feet and dabbed congealed spagetti lumps out of his hair. Where did you come from? I’ve always been here. Just …. Quieter. Savage sat himself down on the edge of his bed and thought some more. If you’ve always been here, why is it only now that I can hear you? The voice inside his head seemed to audibly shrug. Stress I would imagine. That and the fact that you have recently had a head injury. Savage frowned. “A head injury? I don’t remember having a head injury.” Even as he spoke the words, he realised how stupid that sounded. He wanted to reach inside his head and pull out his brain. When did this happen? A few weeks ago. Roughly around the time you boarded that transport, had that interesting conversation about eyeball moistening with Mr. Rotundo. In fact, it was right about the time that you first met Captain Oliver .. “… Hasenau.” It was right about then that Commander Savage fully remembered everything. [/RP] If you need to ask, you should read something else first. Try looking back a couple of years and you’ll find it. [ 09-06-2001: Message edited by: Blades ]
  11. Ok, im in. I'll give you a taste of what Savage was like before he became competent.
  12. All quiet on the forum front .... so I thought I'd remind you, it's SHOWTIME
  13. Hopefully you poor grunts will never know. Anyway, I'll update in a day or two.
  14. Nova, it's an NT server running IIS4 with the usual trimmings. CDONTS isnt working right (Im not sure why, even though it's my job to know why) but ASP, SQL and usual FP Extensions are. However, the current set up doesnt allow for the sub domains to publish via Front Page - so dont even try it. I'll dial into our linux boxes and set up the sub domain for you shortly and you'll have ftp and log in details a short while after. It might take a few hours for the rest of the net to catch up with the changes, but you should be able to upload immediately. Sub-domain will be www.rp.orionfleet.com.

Excuse me? The Orion Fleet website forum is stagnant? Are you sure you're looking at the right fleets forum?!? Theres more activity on there in any given day than any other fleets internal forums combined. And yes, you have to participate on BOTH forums to be considered as active IF you are a newbie. Once you've graduated, you need not participate HERE on a regular basis, but you are still required to remain in contact on the OWS forum. Care to explain the trouble you are having on the OWS forum? We'll help sort it for ya.
  16. Still need work on that sig. Anyway, although Orion is situated in a region just brimming over with bunnies, we're ready to face any external threats to GalCom as well. When it comes to engaging the Gams, we tend to be the last in when it comes to a defensive action, and first in on an offensive. Where we're based, it's a bit dodgy for the Gams to take the short cut through Syrion space to attack Aplha Centauri and Sol. They mostly like to take the long way round and hit GalCom from the north east. Operation Flashpoint, huh? Excellent game. Hard though. Am still battling my way through the final mission, tryin to stop those pesky ruskies from kicking off WW III. Anyway, although you signed on as a marine grunt, until you graduate from the Academy, you're still in a position to change to any of the other career types. Dont rule out anything yet cos once you are on that database with your chosen career choice, you're stuck with it on the Fleet Servers.
  17. Thanks for the kind words. Im not gonna be modest, we deserve the credit for everything you say. Since you're here, why not pay a visit to the Orion Fleet website and go register on the forum. Feel free to participate in the bunny bashing and many, many open discussions for all our BC brethren.
  18. Yes yes, we all know Wraith is very capable. However, I was just quoting from Kalniel's post and not elaborating on it.
  19. Hmm. Im not sure what to make of that. However, it did remind me of somthing I did a good couple of years ago now. Some of you vets may have seen this before, but you newbies havent. Check out http://www.tbg.orionfleet.com/brief.html for the flash movie that greeted visitors to the Orion Fleets very first website. Yeah, I know it's dated. But I had fun with it. 20. Exploring and Information gathering? Sounds like Wraith to me. Good RPing opportunities? Cant do better than Orion. Ship control appauling? Sounds like you belong in Earthcom . Seriously, look at all the fleets sites and work out where you wanna be when the fighting starts. Both Wraith and ISS are crying out for new recruits, and I expect that Earthcom wouldnt turn you away. I'd strongly recommend Orion to you, but you seem to prefer a more sedate approach to fleeting, which is somthing we at Orion simply do not do. Still, the doors open if you wanna step in ...
  21. JJ, that signature is non standard, therefore wrong. See the appropriate thread and correct it. Then give me thirty you maggot.
  22. Most of you probably know this already (And if you dont, why havent you been checking the Orion Website Forum?!?) but for those that dont, or those new forum members that want to see how an active fleet operates, I've just set up several sub-domains that all Battle Group Commanders and individuals who wish to contribute to orionfleet.com in some unique way may upload to. Like I just said, all BG's have their own sub-domain addresses, and Commander Bosch has already uploaded the Project Orion site to his space (www.po.orionfleet.com). Commanders in the fleet who would like their own sub-domain, please submit your proposals to me in the usual manner, explaining your intentions.
  23. They'll have to come through Orion first. Dont worry, we got your back until you can stand up straight.
  24. Providing you keep your attitude in check (And by that, I mean use of politically incorrect humor, sexism, rascism, homophobic slurs - whether serious or in jest) we may well have use of you in Orion. Judging by your sense of humour (When not overstepping the boundries of good taste) you seem to have the anarchic qualities that are present in some of my best commanders. IF you want an ultra active, dedicated and capable fleet who enjoys nothing better than kicking Insurgent bunnies asses, you may have a home home here. However, you will have to pull your weight, remain active and adhere to the code of conduct that all my people adhere to. We like unauthadox officers in Orion, but we also respect the word of law. And then, of course, theres my law. Think about it.
