I feel my name has been maligned long enough by that SC fellow and his other cronies. (ha,ha) I thought I should list some very guilty pleasures, that won't make anyone's top ten list. Some bad movies are cool because they had no intention to be good or make a lot of money. My own personal pet peeve is the 100 million dollar clunker, that the marketing execs try and convince us is good, when we know it is excrement. Now , some of my favorite bad movies. The New Kids. An early starring vehicle for James Spader who plays Dutra, a backwoods crime boss who victimizes two new kids who come to town when there parents are killed in a plane crash. However these kids dad was a Green Beret who taught them a lot of nasty tricks they use on the evil Dutra. This one has it all karate , ninjitsu, pit bulls, and an old amusement park where the action takes place. Don't miss this one. Mauseleum- So bad I cant describe it but laff out loud funny. Notable for featuring LaWanda Page (Sanford and Son's Aunt Esther)as a maid who quits her job when she finds out her boss is possessed. Deep Rising- Treat Williams and a whole lot a sea monsters. Also has guns , bombs ,waverunners and lots of shit exploding. I love this and even watched the toned down network version on ABC last week. Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead. Another Treat Williams vehicle. Here he stars with Andy Garcia, Christopher Walken. Williams plays Critical Bill, an excrement munching psychopath who works out by beating up corpses. Walken plays the "Man With the Plan" (that is really his characters name) who masterminds this misguided caper flick. Tecnically this has a big budget and big stars but its soooo bad i had to include it. Trancers- This movie is bad. But likeable. Tim Thomerson plays Jack Death with such a straight face he convinced me he is a good actor. Just inventive enough to engage you but coupled with some of the worst special effects since Plan 9. Spawned a host of higher budgeted sequels, equally bad, and yes, I've seen them all. Basket Case. Simply awful. Tasteless, abysmal special effects and abolutely no redeeming qualities. Roger Ebert called it" The sickest movie I've ever seen" I concur. I've seen it ten times. The Toxic Avenger. Need I say more? I think not. Force 10 from Navvarone. A dreadful sequel to a great action movie, starring Harrison Ford and Carl Weathers. This movie sucks on so many levels I cant list them. There are parts where Ford sounds as if he is reading the lines in the script. But I own it on VHS and eagerly await a DVD release. Starship Troopers. Casper Van Diems best work. I know this movie is bad but the effects are so cool, Denise Richards is so hot and I can watch Micheal Ironside in anything. Lost In Space. can you beleive Matt LeBlanc only got this role after his bud Matthew Perry turned it down? I cant belive anyone at the studio watching dailies really thought this movie was going to be good. Yet I still own it and watch it a least twicw a year. Smart, I'm gonna track you down and make you pay for what you said about me. I LOVE ACTION MOVIES, I am skipping work to see Bad Boys on Friday. Iv've seen the previews and I'll see it cause I saw the first one. I JUST DON"T LIKE CRAPPY ACTION MOVIES! Now for the love of Pete lay off!

Based on the script I read it threatens to be very interesting. What follows are some plot points. WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD * The cylons are evolved. While some warrior drones remain, the leaders are android types who have infiltrated Colonial politics. * Balduar unwittingly hand over the colonies because he is unaware the woman he is sleeping with and selling secrets to is a cylon. * Starbuck is still the hottest pilot,still gambles,gets drunk, and fights even though she's a girl. *Boomer's a girl too. *Col.Tigh and Starbuck hate each other. Tigh has a little drinking problem and his wife left him because of too many deployments, and too many broken promises to leave the Colonial Fleet. * There are no advanced computers on the Galactica or any other Colonial ships because the Cylons almost defeated them by using there thinking machines against them. Nothing more powerful than a Commodore 64. * The Galactica is being decommisioned on the eve of the Cylon attack. Apollo is back to fly a last mission but doesnt speak to Adama (Edward James Olmos)because he blames him for his brother Zac's death at the Colonial academy. Turns out Zak didn't have the right stuff. * Oh yeah the Cylons are much harder to kill this time. I hope you true sci-fi fans give this thing a chance. If it sucks we can trash it later. Say what you want about Sci-Fi Channel, but it was on death's door and now is one the highest rated cable networks who attracted BIG names like Stephen Spielberg and next season Martin Scorcese.

Am I the only one who feels this may be good? The original show wasn't exactly MacBeth. And while I was a fan I'm willing to give it a shot. I actually read what has been puported to be a first draft of the Pilotby Ronald Moore from Star Trek:TNG and if it is the real thing I can't wait for the thing to start. AS we all know I am too dumb to post a link, and I can't remember the address where the script was posted but I seem to remember that it can be reached via Richard Hatch's website, even though he is diamertically opposed to this project. And lastly it can't be as bad as Galactica 1980

Reading Sc's post on flight checks and the Stella awards reminded me of a good stupid criminal story. This is not an internet rumor or urban legend. I know the criminal well since his father and I have been friends since the 4th grade. An area Burger King was robbed by a man brandishing a gun in the early morning hours late one evening. The man demanded employees to fill a paper bag with money from the registers and after getting the money, he fled on foot. Minutes later he returned with the weapon and demanded they fill another bag with food. A quick thinking employee told him the fries were't ready and that he'd have to wait. In the interim another employee had called the police who by this time arrived as the robber attempted to leave. My friends and I have busted his Dad's balls about this for the last 5 years. It just gets better with time. Anyone else got any?

Blades,Chavik you're (gulp) ...right. The wife and I saw Bend it Like Beckham last night and frankly I'm not sure our marriage will survive it. Seriously, it was one of the most inane mind numbing experiences I can recall. I place it slightly below removing my own spleen with a cocktail fork on my wish list. Half way through I'm starting to enter REM sleep when my wife tells me I'm snoring. When I complain about how boring it was she says " well you wanted to see it" UNBELIEVABLE! Needless to say it was a quiet ride home. The only saving grace is the Indian(?) chick is kinda hot and is supposed to be on ER next season. After I go see T3, I'm swearing off movies for awhile. I got a copy of Splinter Cell not even opened yet as well as Mace Griffin , NCAA 2004 and a reservation for a little game called Knights of the Old Republic. See you guys in a few days

Good point. I do get it, we just disagree. I still think those other two movies are crap., and think at the very least 28Days attempts to appeal more asthetically. I will however go see T3.

Last reply. I'll bet you didnt see Dumb and Dumberer. You didnt have to see it to revile it, just as I don't have to see 2Fast2Furious or Charlies Angels to know they are crap. On T3, I'll take the hit cause I probably will see it, so shame on me. I do rail against "hollowwood" blockbusters and do tend to like movies with more substance. If you saw 28 Days you would see it is much more than a remake of NOTLD. It has subtext! a theme missing from the movies I knocked. So if your feelings were hurt by my IQ statememt , i'm sorry. I spend considerable time watching and collecting great films (8 1/2, Seven Samurai, Touch of Evil, etc..) My favorite directors are people like Wyler, Ford, Fellini, Fasbinder, Wells, Wilder, Kurosawa, Almodavar (see Tie MeUp, Tie Me Down, or Women on the Verge of Nervous Breakdown)I'm also fond of more modern directors like Mike Nichols, James Ivory,and to a lessor extent Tarentino. Very few young directors have anything more than a frenetic visual style, since many of them come from directing music videos. That is where Im coming from. And since most films today are greenlighted by accountants and lawyers, it is no suprise we get stuck with dreck.

Chavik, you can count to three!? congrats! All kidding aside I LIKE movies! I really do! I don't expect that every one of them has to be Citizen Kane. But some effort should go into engaging the audience beside blowing things up. I'm just fed up with paying eight bucks to see an hour and twenty minutes of one liners and car chases arranged around the trailers we saw for the movie. As far as your description of my choices, 28 days si directed by Danny Boyle who directed Trainspotting and is a very talented filmmaker, Pirates because my daughter wants to see it after riding the damn thing last year at DisneyWorld and Beckham because of my wife. So There!

I'll admit my reaction was made without me actually seeing any of the three movies I blasted. Do I intend to see them? No . Nor shall I cultivate an ant farm as some have suggested. No I'll just hold out for a movie that appeals to the triple digit IQ crowd. I plan on seeing 28 Days Later, Pirates,(Johnny Depp)and Bend It Like Beckham

YECH! Movies like 2Fast2Furious, T3 and Charlies Angels2 represent everything I loathe about what passes for Hollywood these days. The first Terminator cost probably a tenth of T3 and made up for it with tight direction and a witty script. Today throw in some catch phrases, car crashes, wire fighting,and CGI effects then top it off with a trailer that includes all the best moments and voila' big hollywood movie, how utterly insipid.

They are doing DNA seqencing to positvely ID this thing. Experts think it is Whale remains. We'll see. Guess I'll reread some Jule Verne myself,or my favorite film Mysterious Island,also featuring Capt.Nemo

CNN reported yesterday that the Pres. blames his military commanders for not locating WMD's. Huh? the same men that were heroes short months ago are now caught holding he bag. To publicly state that is undermining to our troops in the field. It also looks like finger pointing. Let the campaigning begin!

I hope I don't bore you all but I wanted to share an experience I just had. I got the opportunity to finally meet face to face a man I 've called a friend for quite awhle. The infamous Grayfox was recently a visitor to my town and I had the pleasure of hangin out with him, although not nearly as much as I would have liked. We hit the movies, Dave and Busters' and retired a few pints of Guiness along the way. He also finally got a chance to play Halo at my house in the infamous "Dungeon" Although he had to leave far too soon I had a great time and kinda miss the old fart already. It is strange to me to make a friend over the phone lines but that is precisely what happened. My only regret was not meeting my fellow BC Commander Greg Miller who actually resides here, although he and the Fox got to hang out too. So here's to you old friend Till we meet again.

I for one am not suprised. This was a good not great movie. however the same could be said for the first X-Men. Hopefully the sequel , now free of a 30 year old backstory, can dazzle us like X2, my pick for best superhero movie. BTW my top five: 1. X-2 2. Batman 3. Spiderman 4. Superman 5. Darkman But that's just my opinion. Obviously the SFX in the Hulk are top flight, but the films I listed above floored me when they first came out.

I wonder if anyone caught Gen. Wesley Clark on Tim Russert's show on June 15th. Gen Clark stated that as early as one hour after the attacks on the World Trade Center he was contacted regarding military action against Iraq. He reportedly assumed they had intel regarding the attack but found later no such intel existed. Gen. Clark went on to say that since that time Sec. Cheney and other members of the Administration have repeatedly pushed to establish a link that was not supported by credible information. I was astounded by what he was saying and even Russert a moderate masquerading as a liberal seemed a little surprised. imagine how suprised I was when the next day not one major newspaper ran a page one story or any significant coverage. You would think the "Liberal media" would jump all over a story like this, if the source was credible. When you compound this with the post war deaths of our soldiers, airman and sailors, as well as no more credible links between Al Quaiada and Iraq questions arise. Meanwhile we are to believe that the attacks on our personnel are random and that both Hussien and his sons and Bin Laden are still unaccounted for and I wonder just what is going on. In a recent article in Stratfor.com the idea that Iraq in effect"opted in favor of a strategic withdrawal-as opposed to staying and resisting the overwhelming odds-in preparation for gorilla operations" This theory again raises questions as to what is really going on over there?

Simply ASTOUNDING! Please rent or buy this movie! The fight scenes were utterly spectacular and the back story , while hard to swallow, isn't rubbish Bro. Smart. This was simply one of the best sci-fi actioners I have seen in years. Don't pay attention to the poor reviews. There are at least two fight scenes I guarantee you will be discussing at the water cooler the next day. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, SEE EQUILLIBRIUM! The Clerics rule!

SC speaks the truth, I really really liked this film. It don't hurt that Monica Bellucci plays the Dr. How can someone look so hot covered in mud and sweat? ...oh what am I saying?

Sorry guys, Grayfox and I caught this yawner Saturday and I must say I was a tad disappointed. An ENTIRE HOUR to build to a climax was a bit too much. I think they overdid the greek tradgedy theme and the plotting suffered as a result.I fell asleep twice!! The spectacular desert chase scenes almost redeemed the film but I honestly don't think this was as good as I hoped it would be. 710
