Guys , please be civil. It's one thing to disagree with someones opinion and quite another to insult and demean them. Does anybody , anybody , have any information directly linking Saddam to Al-Quaida? The Sec Of State didn't seem to have any during his presentation at the UN. Can any of you provide any thing approximating proof? Again, this is not me sticking up for Saddam he is a despot and on the express train to Hell but where is the smoking gun? Also how again will this stop terror attacks in the US. Please let me know, cause I just don't see it.

In the prequels it tells of Gurney being a farmer whose family is slaughtered by the Harkonnen and his sister being sold out to miners as a prostitute. It also discusses how Duncan came to be a great warrior and that he killed his first Harkonnen as a seven year old boy who was hunted for sport. They really go into detail about how Duncan trained at an elite military academy to be the leader of House Atraides royal army. As far as how he is reincarnated*spoiler warning* lets just say that Duncan outlives all of House Atraides. (see Dune Messiah and Children of Dune) The stories of Duncan and Gurney weigh heavily in House Atraides and House Harkonnen. (Fox, check your PM)

If I hear one more person say support our troops I will f**king puke! Most of the people I have observed saying this have no idea what support means. For example I rarely agree with Jag but I have big respect for him and when he says stuff like supporting the troops I get it. But a number of people who support this police action don't even take the time to inform themselves about the situation. They have no vested interest in the "troops" , have no intention to inlist and put themselves or thier loved ones in harms way , watch the war on the big screen like it's a football game with equal fervor and blindly make statements about "taking Saddam out" as if they have any idea what that really entails. Do they really think that putting a flag they bought from frigging Wal-Mart, on thier car constitutes support? And just because we are now "Over there" the people who disagree with why we are should just shut up and keep thier convictions to themselves? No No No! This is the very time we should speak up. Stop equating uninamity with unity. This country was founded on our right to dissent and even overthrow a government that is no longer just. While I support our troops in various ways, ( We are organizing cousnseling for families of deployed troops and my wife is working on some kinda food aide thing), I will never blindly go along with something I believe to be wrong no matter how idiots say I should. We should be raising this issue to prevent the next unnecessary police action and save the lives of our soldiers and sailors. Going after N. Korea? I'm all for it. Chastisng the Saudi's for acts of compliction and support of terrorism? Lets roll. Heating up Syria and Libya for years of terrorist activities that we know about? Let's do that shit , but this situation is doing nothing to end terrorism and will probably act as a recruiting poster for Al-Queda for years to come. I'm wondering if anyone has read the three prequels written by Frank Herbert's son and Brian Anderson, House Atriedes , House Harkonnen and House Corrino. While they lack the scope of the original series it is more accessible in a straight forward sci-fi kind of way. It tells a back story on the major characters and what motivated thier actions in Dune such as Gurney Hallock , Duncan Idaho as a really good primer on the Benegesirit sisterhood. Would really like to see SciFi do a prequel miniseries

Guys see Greg's post regarding GeForce4 MX's They are really misleading folks by referring to it as GeForce4. They are not GeForce4Ti and that 35 bucks aint that big of a bargain

My 32mb GeForce2 mx200 is showing its age. I cant get though one mission in MW4: Mercernaries without massive slowdowns (just purchased and installed)same with UT2003. My old games play ok but the newer ones really suck. I am considering the following vid cards as upgrades and need some guidance. I cannot afford a GeForce4Ti or anything like that but these others are in my range. And this attack on Iraq is going to make terrorism obselete? I just want to know how this will all play out. I keep hearing automaton like citizenry who've never served or got any information that wasn't doled out on CNN or Fox talk about" Taking Saddam "out before something happens on American soil" So no Islamic fundementalist is going to be motivated to strap a bomb to his ass and hop on a subway because Saddam is toast? I pray our soldiers and sailors come home safe and soon , but just who do you think will have to stay behind while we work our particular brand of nation building for the next few years? How vulnerable will they be? And please don't say the UN cause according to you guys both they and Europe are irrelavant and obselete. As far as a foreign policy how about this. We are the US. We have and will use weapons of mass destruction on any nation that is connected to any attack on US citizens. This would now include the reprressive monarchy known as Saudi Arabia, a country that oppresses its women and has even executed members of its own royal family for sexual infidelity. The majority of the 9-11 bombers were Saudi nationals and members of the royal family can be tied to funding terrorist groups a lot better than the flimsy ties between A-Quaida and Saddam. How bout N. Korea? Fire another missile over US allies or harrass another US military aircraft and we will double our economic sanctions and reinforce the pacific theater with a couple of carrier groups and a few flocks of B-52's and Stealth bombers. CONTAINMENT and NUCLEAR DETERRENT I feel very comfortable that is a better way to do this than 100 billion dollars WE DON"T HAVE TO SPEND!an occupying force that will be at risk for the kind of attacks we are seeing in Israel right now is my concern. But by all means keep wrapping yourselves in the flag insisting we are fighting terrorism while the rest of the country goes to Hell in a handbasket. The economy is shit, states are broke, the corporate wheels keeps spinning round and round and as long as we have our "Bread and Circuses" no one really notices that the Emperor really has no clothes and worse no clue.

I'm curious if anyone watched the miniseries and how it was recieved. I loved it having read every original Dune book except Chapterhouse. I know some people have said it was too slow, but I thought they did an excellent job of portraying the political intrigue, religious overtones and the sweeping scope of what those books are really about. The martial art scenes were done really well and having an actress of Susan Sarandon's calibre really added luster to a mostly unknown cast. Plus the women in the cast were on the whole pretty hot and thats always a good thing. If this is representative of what SciFi is trying to do I like it. Add to that an imaginative director like Alex Proyas doing Farmer's Riverworld and it seems they have come a long way in the area of Made for Tv films. There is a big difference between Dune and Roswell:The Aliens Attack. Overall 8/10
