  1. If this wasn't so pathetic I'd swear it was a skit on Monty Python's Flying circus or Alexei Sayles( Who's that fat Bastard?)"Too early you say..? when would be a good time to ring you back? say wednesday..doesn't work for me we're surrendering to the canadians on wed..how about friday?"
  2. Explain to me how a piece of execrement like Ecks vs Sever gets made and we have to sit around and HOPE a project like Robota takes off?... Go figure
  3. Played the demo. not my type of game. No threat in the Bannon household to unseat BCM MW4 or UT2003. Not even close. I guess some of these games (Homeworld,Warcrap,etc)..are not meant for beginning gamers like me.
  4. Thats as close to right as we are gonna get. Great interpretation Jag. Mark Twain was a smart man and wicked clever as well. My own favorite quote: " Man is the only animal that blushes or needs to"
  5. Thanks to everybody who responded. All of your suggestions broadened by abysmal knowledge about my own rig and for that I thank you.
  6. Damnit I love the Irish! Before it was because of the Harp and Guiness but now you've saved me from a fate worse than virtual death. I did as instructed and it booted right up Have a virtual pint on me!
  7. No messages similar to the ones you listed just a big fat blinking cursor that wont allow you to input any commands. If I don't get this straightend out I will most definitely take you up on your offer. Check your PM in a little while. Thanks
  8. Don't know what OS I'm running my comp was built by our IT guy at work who is in Virginia for a week, just know that at setup non OS/2 was the default. Also at setup when I tried to check the HDD it just blinked when I hit the enter button. Also says at the memory check screen for Primary master and secondary slave : None. My wife claims my kid did something to the comp but didnt see her do it. The only hardware I added was a Sidewinder Joystick because the Wingman extreme was just too much for me. At one point I had both of them plugged in at the same time although one is USB and the is serial port, I didnt think that was a problem. It did this the day before but started up by itself after being left on of 15 minutes but last night it was on for 2hrs and nada. AMD Athlon 1.33Mhz GeForce2 200x 32mg Soundblaster Pro Win98 Soyo SY-K7VTA pro motherboard Soyo PS/2 Keyboard That all I can remember being that I'm at work. Unfortunately I dont have Win98 bootdisk. Hope this helps
  9. Did I get demoted? I was a Lt.Commander yesterday? What no board of inquiry?
  10. So last night after reading two chapters for school putting my daughter the Evil One down for the night and popping tomorrows dinner in the crock pot, I head down into the dungeon to liberate Kentares IV form the evil Stiener forces in my tricked out Mauler. I turn on the computer and after the memory check..nothing. Just a blinking cursor in the left hand corner, like a DOS prompt only it wont accept any commands. After turning off the power and trying again ..nothing. Can anyone help me? Warning I am a computer semi illiterate so type slow and no big words.
  11. We've got some smart people on this board, does anyone have an idea more impactful than boycotting them? If anyone does post it and lets see if we can't kick up a ruckus.
  12. Oops! Sorry Echo,truly.
  13. Echo, I think folks forget we are all more alike than different on this site. Who else would spend hours mining Mars , Triton etc. or spend days organizing coordinated attacks on Gammulan colonies? Politics are just one aspect of a persons makeup and one I could overlook if I like the person enough. Now you may resume your cryin sissyboy!
  14. check new post The Second Gulf war
  15. While I still feel Bush's domestic policy is woeful and that he kowtows to the rich, I have a better perspective on the rationale for the War on Iraq. PBS Frontline did an excellent special outlining the steps taken that leads to our present policy and I must admit that some of my initial responses were premature. Frontline is known as somewhat left leaning and it is forr that reason I was compelled to accept its objectivity. They outline the steps that started in the first Bush White House and appear to attribute the failure to unseat Saddam at the feet of Geo.H and Brent Scocroft for standing by while the Republican guard slaughtered the Kurds they had rallied to revolt. They blame a policy of containment a cold war holdover, as well. Hawks like Paul Wolfowitz , William Kristol and Richard Perle urged the elder Bush not to "stand by idly and watch a mugging" referring to US troops deployed but ordered not to engage while the slaughter continued. Wolfowitz drafted a new policy paper pushing preemption as the new stance the US should take. In it he listed a number of regimes that he felt were poised to desatbilize key regions of the world and supporting terrorism to boot.North Korea , Iraq , Syria and a number of others were listed along with specific military actions to in effect "democratize" the countries where totalitarinism now exists. Bush Scowcroft, Cheney and Powell read it and were immediately concerned they would be unable to build coalitions with our allies and would further the rift in the UN. Cheney was ordered to rewrite it to reflect the Administrations foreign policy stance. From the beginning Perle and Wolfowitz knew the allies wouldnt support this action and urged Bush senior to act unilaterally. This didnt occur and following Clinton's election , his administration took the same position. Even after it became obvious that Hussien was manipulating the inspection process their stance remained the same. After the Hawks (Wolfowitz,Perle,Kristal, and Rumsfeld )wrote the President warning him of the situation after initially brushing it off as to politically risky, he ordered an attack and scuttled the mission before the planes were halfway to Iraq. With the election of Dubya, the 911 disaster and the council of Rumsfeld , Rice and Wolfowitz the president adopted the policy of preemption. They knew they were going to attack Iraq after they got finished with the Taliban and the actual plan was drafted in 1991. While I still have vast misgivings about this war, it is clear to me it was not the political reaction I have so often said it was. It is also not a reactionary tactic , but is part of a strategy to transform anerican foreign policy. Still dont agree with how our Pres. prioritzes things(have you looked at your retirement accounts and stock portfolios recently?} But I have to admit at least some of the motivation for this war is not what I thought it was. I still hope for a peaceful end to this but I fear we've gone too far for that now. I still feel this will only destabilize the region and put Israel at substantial risk as well as have a disasterous effect on our economy but at least I dont think Bush is as big a creep as I thought he was. It is clear that Bush jr made these decisions based on 9-11 and that prior to that was more open to containment. To me that says a lot. If any one is interested in seeing Frontline go to www.pbs.org and click on the War Behind Closed Doors for both text and video
  16. Not psychic just perceptive and whether our politics agree or not the truth remains the truth. Just finished a book you may find interesting , its called Integrity written by Stephen.H.Carter. Very insightful and on point. Good luck with your meeting. [ 02-22-2003, 04:16 PM: Message edited by: Race Bannon IV ]
  17. Boy you guys don't know Jag like I know Jag. He'll make his old bosses sweat and then do exactly what he thinks is right. Zero revenge factor. The guy may be to the right of Attila the Hun but he is full of integrity. Happy belated Jag.
  18. Should I be ashamed to say that is the funniest thing I've seen in two weeks? The condom line alone caused a spit take worthy of the Milton Berle show as I was drinking coffee while I read it. Oh those wacky French! They are the unifying force we all need on this forum. Conservative , Liberal , whoever we always have the French to kick around when we need a laugh. What was that old ryhme? " The French the French a funny race , they fight with thier feet and .... oh I cant rememeber the rest , somone help me out.
  19. Gee, so all I had to do was agree with right wing reactionary neanderthal points of view and I would get smarter? Who knew? I wish I knew that when I was taking my SAT's. That 1350 could have been a 1600 and I'd be sittin on easy street exploiting the working class and carpet bombing brown people.
  20. Okay now I feel stupid. After reading your posts I just realized Asstrophotography wasn't taking pictures of hot chicks in tight jeans...who knew? never mind.
  21. Jag you are a smart aware and patriotic man. Beleive it or not I do learn from you even though I rarely if ever agree with you. You have prompted me to actually read the Constitution and I have spent a considerable amount of time perusing the Rutherford Institute site and some links to constitutional law. However if you think you are ALWAYS right about issues discussed on this board you are the one who has something to learn. Smart and aware are not allknowing and omnicient.
  22. Jesus Jag I hope you are right , but in these days where alarmism passes for patriotism I 'm a little nervous. I just hope you are right this time.
  23. Thanks $ilk It's nice to have a hero and besides being a conservo I think you are pretty cool. Days like today make me glad you are stilla civilian. 24. Jag I could almost cry. To say I've waited forever for this day to come would be an understatement , but not a big one. Try Unreal Championship for the XBox and get back to me. Signed your new buddy Race
  25. With Daredevil and the Hulk coming out the question came up, what was the best adaptation of a comic book/graphic novel and what was the worst. You could reference live action films or animation. Here are some of my choices; 1. Batman -Micheal Keaton as the Dark Knight? who knew? My choice as the best. The worst- Howard the Duck- came out nearly twenty years ago and I can still detect its stench. Animated-The Original Spider-Man cartoon. Loved the theme song. Loved that he fought Doc Ock , Electro , Craven the Hunter all the guys from the comic not some made up Superfriends villians. Too bad it isn't being shown anywhere. Not to be confused with NBC dreck that had Spidey living with Iceman from the X-Men The worse- The Sub-Mariner cartoons of the early sixties. Truly the worst animated superhero show of all time. They moved like cutouts from comics. absolutely dreadful in every way. Feel free to join in with your choices.
