The behavior of the dems was unacceptable. Having said that thier ire was more an issue of culture than politics. I am a proud liberal but that doesnt mean that mean spirited sniping is an acceptable form of dissent. If we cant learn to disagree agreeably this country is in a lot trouble. The fact that we cant disagree without demonizing or painting nearly half the country as hypocrites is frightning to me. And Prez, no one enlisted you as arbiter of right and wrong. Your opinions are simply that, opinions. If you have all the answers you purport to have you are doing your countrymen a great disservice by not putting your great gifts to good use, like running for office. Trust me when I say there are plenty of hypocrites on both sides of the aisle.

I simply made the point that four pages of posts on this thread and an absence of similar discussion on the obvious Conservo shortcomings, indicated to me a smokescreen. It is clear that while cosmetically that post was about France, we both know it was just another item in the endless litany of items to discount liberalism. I also refuse to take the bait of referring to my comparison as moronic,as a way to insense me. I will simply point out that my opinion about the New Right and Fundementalism is shared by a former President of the US, Jimmy Carter. I am also sure you will attempt to ridicule him and denounce him due to his failed presidency, but as we already know (according to you guys) No Moron can rise to the highest office in the land. What happened in France was tragic, but what was more tragic to me was the brazen politicization of it to advance your reactionary views. Lastly, I love how you continue to see the POOR as a monolithic entity, as if they have a union or something. Good thing I dont think that way, I only think SOME conservatives are flatulent, self rigteuos, gas bags.

Speaking as one of the so called invisible liberals on this board, I havent responded to any of these threads because I have heard ALL of it before. I think it is nice for you guys to spin this stuff so you can avoid discussing Karl Rove Scooter Libby and the like. It beats discussing Bush's spiraling approval ratings. You know a lot of you guys call yourselves conservatives, but in truth you are all Fundementalists. You see the world in absolutes, are unable to comprimise, renounce any dissent as unpatriotic,and do your best to destroy a system that promotes liberty by trying to bring about the demise of any opposition party. You guys have a lot in common with the Islamic fundementalist you are always demonizing, you only differ in dogma and tactics. That is really ironic and funny to me. The riots are simply what riots have always been under many different forms of government; the rage of the poor, uneducated and unrepresented. This is no more a repudiation of Socialism than the riots in in LA were to democracy. Rage reaches a critical mass and the mob mentality took over. In closing remember a wise man once said " A fanatic is a person who won't change his mind and can't change the subject" If the shoe fits......

Sir!? Well yeah okay..anywho simply one of the best things shot on film this year. I am continuosly surprised by the choices Clooney makes. After seeing it I went home and watched his remake of Fail-safe done for CBS a few years back. Who would have though CLOONEY HAS DEPTH! 9/10

IA few years back a friend who loves films as much as I suggested a film based on Alan Duff's Novel "Once Were Warriors" which detailed the trials and tribulations of a Maori family living in violence and poverty in New Zealand. I saw at our local art house and it has stayed with me for quite some time. tHe family's triumphs and tragedies resonated and I often thought about how the characters moved on with thier lives following the earth shattering tragedy that closed the film. Two nights ago I happened upon a movie with a title of a favorite song" What Becomes of the Broken Hearted" by the Temptations. Thinking it may be a documentary I tuned in to see a sequel to Once were Warriors. It takes place eight years after the main characters split up at the end of the last film. For the next two hour I was able to get some answers about Jake the Muss ( Short for Muscles , which he liberally employs in an endless number of barbaric bar fights) The movie takes a hard look at a man who has lost his family, self respect and his culture (he is ashamed of being Maori in a white world)It also explores the theme of redemption without comprimising the acts that led to his need for redeeming himself. The music and beauty of the Maori culture is featured while looking at the destructive forces that challenge them as a people. While not as complex as " Warriors" (which was written and directed by Lee Tamahori, who went on to Hollywood success with Die Another Day)it never the less is a worthy sucessor to the original

The console is for the masses, the cheap and the lazy( that would be me) Maybe if money chasing publishers got out of the way and pursued console only gaming customers, the creative folks who program for PC's could concentrate on making ground breaking games and not try to be the next HL2, BF1942, Everquest, fill in the blank etc... I'm sure that initially it would force some developers to fall by the wayside but I believe eventually you may see the return of QUALITY pc games that emphasize gameplay and not the need to constantly create the next great franchise. But what do I know? I am mostly a console gamer

Just heard a tidbit on IMDB, Michael Mann is directing a movie version of his groundbreaking series for a 2Q release in 06. Collin Ferell as Sonny Crockett and Jamie Fox as Ricardo Tubbs. Anyone who liked the TV movie "LA Takedown" and the big screen version "Heat" has gotta be salivatimg for this one.

I think that Invasion unlike the other new genre series is attempting to slowly build its backstory and engage veiwers by focusing on the human relationships and how the Invasion changes and challenges those relationships. I like the premise but the execution is hit or miss. The first two eps had ther moments but the pacing of the stories are just too deliberate. I hope they dont waste a great lead in by putting everyone to sleep before we get hooked.

Gilligan and Maxwell Smart in the same month..I must be getting old. Don Adams star of "Get Smart" passed on this week. If you youngsters never saw it it is your lost. Get Smart was in many ways the precursor to the Police Squad and Airplane types of humor and was very clever for its time. We will miss you Agent 86...

I love this show. I have heard the criticisms but it is right up my alley. It depicts what it would really be like if your race was on the brink of extermination. They seemed to have a little too much fun on the original.

SC do you know if other non Tivo dvrs are to included in these hi Jinks? I am going to buy an Alienware DHS-5 as the heart of my new media center and it has DVR capacity. If anyone knows the answer please let me know before I drop a couple thousand bucks

I have no use for a game so hard I get an aneurism trying to play it. I have limited time playing games and while I like a challenge I don't want to spend the next thirty years trying to beat a game. i think balance is important. I hope they make games for the Gamer Gods as well as the geezers like me who cant manage eight button string commands. It is also important to balance challenge with fun. I probably will never finish 688 Hunter Killer a subsim but it is so much fun I dont mind honing my skills in hope to someday beating it. On the other hand I almost jumped out a window playing Steel battallion with its virtual death. four months worth of saved games down the drain cause I got zapped by a no'see'um? No thank you. I unloaded that white elephant to the first sucker I could find. Balance my friends , balance.
