  1. As I suspected, nobody in the Beta team has been able to reproduce this thus far.

Yeah, it was wicked on the big screen. So is it more?!?, let's see, 30 bucks a game, X15K Copies, that's over a Million Bucks!, Not including the Manuals! Its less, based on the time frame. Plus, thats not now the numbers work. I don't get $30 a copy because you have to factor in COGs (cost of goods), e-commerce partner cuts (which range from 30% to 50% depending on who it is). I wrote a soapbox article on how the math works. Sure, we make a lot more money with e-commerce digital distribution than with traditional publishers, but without the risk of being stiffed. ps: We got an offer last week from IGN's Direct2Drive service and the contract should be final by this coming week; which will see the game on there around the first week of October!! That should be a serious sales boost, given the size and exposure of the IGN network. quote: Originally posted by Remo Williams: Wow now thats a big Screen! Heh, looks like I'm not the only one showing a little gray these days. Pah! I'm going bald too. Good thing I usually keep my hair cut low. I was due for a hair cut (which I had this past weekend), so my bald spot is a little prominent in one of those shots. But not as bad as my old buddy (and fellow IGDA board member), attorney Tom Buscaglia (the big guy to my right, in one of the photos).
  3. Actually those numbers are incorrect and I've asked that the article be corrected. Yeah, it was wicked on the big screen.
  4. You can find it over here
  5. There are no less than 11 recruits waiting to be approved. wtf is going on? Or do I have to fire all the FLs and re-appoint new ones or disband the fleets?
  6. I have no idea wtf you folks are talking about. The problem does not exist in UC. And it only existed in UCAWA because of a code revision I made to handle intruders. The issue is fixed - there's nothing intermittend about it - and there's nothing further to discuss. And common sense should dictate that if the problem was only recently fixed in the game, then more than likely it exists in the demo, which is based on Beta code. The next person to ressurect a dead thread without concrete evidence and a problem that can be 100% reproduced, is getting banned.
  7. Let me know how it goes.

  10. I already said that I'm pretty flexible in assigning CD-Keys. I will know who the abusers are. For example, Teknocack Prime , in a span of nine days, used up two unique CD-KEYs (four activations). The other day, he sent email to tech support asking for - yet another one - because this time, his motherboard got hosed. Naturally, he's not getting another one ANYTIME soon; even though he offered to pay for it. The problem with activations is that if you give out too many, then you find that people can install the game on more than one computer. And each time they use up an activation, I can access the server and take a look at the key to see how/when and from what IP it was activated. This is one of the criteria I use for assigning new keys. As I said before, after maybe six months or so, I will issue a patch which does away with the activation key or uses a less stringent HW test for invalidating a key. Even Valve charge ($10 I think) for a new STEAM key. There are TONS and TONS of products (not just games) online which use CD-KEYs etc and they work just fine. We're not yet setup to accept payments for new keys, but I'm going to have that setup next week. But I'm going to be charging $19.99 for each new CD-KEY issued to an abuser. That is still cheaper than buying a new copy of the game. quote: Originally posted by DennyMala: Indeed I'm waiting to install UCAWA since I'm gonna upgrade my system in a month or two with a serious overhaul. Denny, you're in the Beta program and you can just let me know when you need a new key. No point in not installing the game. Thats just silly.
  11. In other words, all you've achieved is wasting my time by reading this. Don't you know how to write a fairly comprehensive and CLEAR report? Everything you've written so far has amounted to nothing short of gibberish. And no, neither myself nor the testers, are going to touch it; because we don't have time to waste.
  12. Which is EXACTLY why you had NO business creating a new thread. Now when someone searches for a similar issue, they're going to come up with two threads. I really should temp ban you. When I come back, I want to find that your relevant posts in this thread, have been moved to that proper thread. At which point I will delete this thread.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Azaran: I had no problems in UC with my audigy 2 NX, though in AWA I get a complete system crash intermitently when clicking on context menu options in any part of the game (total system freeze, repeating sound). Nothing to do with the game. UCAWA uses the same sound system as UC. Since the NX is an external sound device, you're on your own. A classic example of WHY these forums are moderated the way they are. [ 09-23-2005, 05:27 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  14. Nothing to do with the game. You're on your own. Apart from the fact that you have an onboard sound card, there is already a thread about sound card performance tweaking. This thread will be deleted and you will most likely be banned if you pull this stunt again. You know the rules: NO EXCEPTIONS.
  15. I have already ordered all the parts I need. This weekend, I'm going in. Wishing me luck.
  16. So now we know what is down in the hatch. Things are going to get interesting pretty quick. For my part, I'm damn sure that the writers are justing winging it now; because it is highly unlikely that they had a frigging clue that this show would take off as it has. 17. This premiere didn't do anything for me. I still prefer Threshold. We'll see how it goes and whether or not I keep it in my Tivo season pass.
  18. Yeah, I found the problem. Its not a rendering issue. I had disabled the scripts parameter for the rings back when the dynamic cloud cover was being implemented and tested. I forgot to re-enable the ring drawing code in the WORLD.SCR script. Doh! Look in GBS definition for jupiter and you will see that the last 3-4 params are missing; when compared to the UC variant. Not important enough for a patch push, so this will wait until a new patch with a more critical issue is required.
  19. I can't get them to show either. Looking into it. Grizzle, did you try turning off the planetary cloud cover in Config?
  20. Sorry, it wasn't my intention to make someone else figure it out for me. I just noticed I could recreate it everytime as a male/terran/insurgent/SFM so I tried it as a male/terran/military/commander and it didn't happen, so I thought it might be a problem. Seriously, this is not brain surgery. You tried it as Ter/Ins SFM and got the problem. But instead of testing it as Ter/Ins CMDR, you go and test it as Ter/Mil CMDR? *sheesh* I don't investigate anything on a whim. So, unless you can provide more information as to under what other circumstances (e.g. is only Ter/Ins SFM) it occurs, I'm not touching it.
  21. Someone mentioned that they weren't being rendered and I have yet to investigate since they never came back to confirm it. I think it was Grizzle who first mentioned it.
  22. quote: Originally posted by Matchoo: Sorry, I guess the title of the topic is bad. I don't know if it's just the SFM or not. ...and so you ultimately expect some other poor sod to go figure that out for you? Yeah. Right.
  23. ...and this is unique to the SFM career? Lemme guess, you didn't bother to check the CMDR career.
  24. heh, I take it nobody completed the campaign then?
  25. You can't
