  1. The English version is apparently out on GamersGate. Who gets to be the Guinea pig and takes one for the team?
  2. If you downloaded the free version, it does not contain multiplayer.
  3. All game versions (Direct2Drive, Steam etc) are compatible in MP as long as the clients and server are running the same version.
  4. There is no 1.00.39 Steam patch because Valve still has not corrected the problem on their end. I am going to be following up with them next week on that. So until then, the Steam version is locked at 1.00.37. Sorry.
  5. Read the manual. It shows you what you need to do in order to increase the thrust profile which is what determines how fast the craft can go.
  6. That link you posted is not a standard patch. It is an upgrade. If you have the D2D version of the game, use the game's "Check For Update" shortcut to download the latest patch, or download it from here and do the patch manually. So, what you need to do now is to uninstall the game, delete the folder, re-install the game and patch it as described above. Don't use the 2.0 upgrade unless you know what you doing, since it is not supported.
  7. Yah, I just heard. Oh well.
  8. If you haven't yet, you should read my latest blog. The industry is not all that peachy.
  9. That's great to hear! And yes, anyone can do what they want. But then the questions become i) what are you willing to do to get there? ii) how far are willing to go? A starving actor would have no problem waiting tables until he gets a break. Most never do. If he is 11 years old, then he has a long road ahead of him and my guess is that he'll probably move on from this at some point. And if he doesn't? Well, that's what chasing a dream is all about. My missive was to paint the picture of how that dream plays out today for people trying to live it. Who knows, it may get better (highly unlikely) or much worse (even money is on current industry trends) by the time he even starts thinking about girls, let alone high school, college and beyond.
  10. ...and why would he want to do a thing like that? Getting into the industry is not like it used to be. The industry has changed a whole lot and getting hired without any experience (for the most part, nobody cares about degrees due to the specific skills required) is a fool's errand. Heck, with all the consolidations, closures etc there is an abundance of experienced talent - all with impressive track records - looking for work. Those are the people who, more often than not, get hired due to the high risk venture that is game development. I see dozens of resumes each week and the last time I saw one from someone with no industry experience, I think Clinton was president. Let him stick to playing games and just find a less stressful and rewarding career. Most of us in it don't have a choice since it is all we know. Even most of the people I started out with have left to pursue other ventures.
  11. OMG!! That's seriously hardcore!
  12. The comms unit in one fighter is displayed in red (11%) and I can't replace it either. I'll see if I can break it a little more so the system engineers can figure out what to do with it. Sometimes the system engineers have troubles with complicated modern devices, such as doorknobs. Well, I had some convenient enemy types damage that fighter even more. The communications module is now at 5% and I can neither replace nor repair it. Obviously that module is not critical to the operation of the craft. That is how the AI determines efficiciency. Guys, this algorithm hasn't changed since the first game in 2004. It's not brain surgery. And if you search the forums, you will see numerous discussions pertaining to how the system determines when something needs to be replaced, repaired or let alone. Try saving your game, the load up the game with cheats. Use the cheat mode that allows you to damage a craft remotely and use it against the ship. Observe the results.
  13. Because you made hostiles so i don't have to do it myself. Thats why you put it in halt mode first.
  14. Why do you have to engage hostiles in order to damage your ship? Why can't you do it yourself.
  15. ...or you could just launch it, give it the halt command, then damage it some more so that it is damaged beyond that threshold.
  16. The official dedicated servers are back online. The disruption was due to a missing D3DX9_43.DLL file which is new in the June 2010 DirectX SDK which this patch was built against. Remote servers running Windows Server will NOT have this file. So will have to either run the latest dxsetup.exe file on the server in order to update the DirectX install to the June 2010 runtime or you will have to copy that DLL file from your local machine (which is assumed to be already updated) to the console server folder (where the game executable resides) on your remote server machine.
  17. Both All Aspect Warfare and Angle Of Attack are now available for sale on Digital River networks. For more information, see our sales page
  18. The Steam version has been rolled back to 1.00.37 until we can figure out next week with Valve what's going on.
  19. There seems to be a problem with the Steam patch. We're looking into it and waiting to hear back from Valve.
  20. OK. We're waiting to hear back from Valve, but according to my check, AOA has not updated at all yet. If you look in that game folder, you should see AOA.EXE with a more recent date/time stamp. Anyway we think that this is a problem with the Steamworks copy protection. Until I hear back from Valve, we can't do anything unfortunately.
  21. Can someone look in the /steamapps/common/allaspectwarfare/docs folder and tell me if any of the PDF files there are not in English?
  22. Can you try clearing the game cache? I will look into that now.
  23. The master server and all public servers are offline atm.
  24. The open Beta has started. So who signed up?
