The description of the game is indicative of what is included. It has not changed since it was first put up back in early 2009. From the 2009 UCCE v2.0 description, This: It consists of full copies of the three legacy Battlecruiser retail releases in their original state Goes with this: Universal Combat Collectors' Edition contains all game scenarios from the following titles: The UC Collector's Edition (both the 2007 original and the 2009 v2.0 release) allow you to play all the scenarios from the previous game within the updated game engines. This is the standard procedure for most collector edition games. The primary reason is that without something like DOSBox, it is impossible to run those original games on modern computers and operating systems. Which is why the scenarios were converted, updated and tested to run on the more recent Collector's Edition game engines so that they are compatible with moden computers and operating systems starting from Win98 all the way to Win7. As a bonus, they were also included in the 2007 release of the retail DVD version. The 2009 v2 was never released as a retail product and thus they were not included. Below is an excerpt from the description of the 2007 UCCE DVD version: === 6. Battlecruiser Millennium (EB Games, Nov 2001) * 7. Battlecruiser 3000AD v2.0 (Interplay, Dec 1998) * 8. Battlecruiser 3000AD (Take2, Sept. 1996) * * Full stand-alone version included on DVD-ROM === Unfortunately, we no longer sell the 2007 DVD version, though some online retailers (e.g. Amazon, eBay etc) may have it from back stock. As a matter of fact, the three titles mentioned above are available as FREE downloads all over the net. Here is one such link on FilePlanet Hope this clears up the confusion. ps: I'll see about having the web pages update with even more clarification in order to avoid further confusion.

If you don't want your fighters taking off, give them the HALT command or don't launch them. Even with the DEFEND command, even if a hostile pilot looks at your ship the wrong want, they will engage. The ESCORT if far more aggressive than DEFEND. When you jump into a region with a hostile station, it automatically detects you on radar, prepares to launch strike fighters, arms weapons (missiles and turrets) ready for launch when you get into range. All those are aggressive stances and that is why your fighters will take off and try to engage it.

Too bad the game itself won't look anywhere near this. http://startrek-is.com/

Free roam in UC Free, Enemies never attack
Supreme Cmdr replied to The Black Ghost's topic in Universal Combat Series
Actually that's not even the problem. The only reason a craft goes into RTB state is if a) given a direct order has nothing to do in the region is badly damaged When ships appear (usually auto-generated ones) in the region, if they don't find anything to do, they will do a target search sweep for several minutes, switch to RTB, then bugger off. However, if you continue to engage them, they will re-engage; which is how even the friendly fire works in that if you consistently attack a friendly target, it will turn hostile. These AI params have evolved over time and across various games in the series. So the parameters in the most recent (UCCE) games is vastly differrent an more robust than in versions before it - especially going back to the original UC from 2004. -
What I wrote here is not going to change you know.

Free roam in UC Free, Enemies never attack
Supreme Cmdr replied to The Black Ghost's topic in Universal Combat Series
Everything you posted is untrue. If you're not sure of something, just ask. Plus, the site has a search feature from which you can obtain a lot of information. Fact is that the free version of UC has various options disabled, but nothing to do with ships. Ships only attack if/when appropriate and it depends on your race/caste. And ODS units do attack IF they have a good firing solution. -
Digital downloads mean you purchase and download the game - anywhere you are in the world. If you want to keep copies for safekeeping, you have to burn a DVD-ROM on your own. You can buy the digital version directly from us. The original Universal Combat from 2004 is not the same as the Universal Combat CE DVD version from 2007. So be sure that you know which one you have. Universal Combat CE v2 released in 2009 is not a patch. You can read the differences between the original and v2 over here. Make your decision based on that.

We have no such rules. You must be talking about tech support. UCCE and UCCE v2 is a single collection of games. So only one online activation is required. We do not use Starforce. i move around often so i can't always stayed connected online to play as its impossible for me to settle down in any long term residency with a permanent internet connection in the foreseeable future. Then you must have the original 2007 UCCE released by Take Two. You only need to activate that version once; no internet connection required because the activation key is on the CD-ROM itself. The game is real time. So your commander career can live up to age 65 before retiring. That's in real man years. So if in real life you are aged 17 and you play the same career until it retires, you would be aged 17+65 (82) in real life. I doubt that you'd live that long, so I won't worry about it if I were you. No. Only via digital distribution. You can get it directly from us, over at Direct2Drive, Gamer's Gate and various other places. None of those games use Steam. Only All Aspect Warfare and Angle Of Attack have a Steam version

Looks like they are about to release it for free!! http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/wing-commander/1123946p1.html

If you want to play as a diplomat or other harmless caste, trading is your only option. Avoiding raiders while playing a harmless caste (e.g. diplomat, trader etc) and such is a whole game all by itself.

Undelete Save Files?
Supreme Cmdr replied to ice9's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Once you delete them from within the game, they are removed from the game's dB file stored in the .\save folder. If you had only deleted the files from the .\save folder, then restoring them would also have restored the db file that tracks them. If you have backups of the .\save folder from prior to your deletion, just restore that entire folder and the old .db file will also be restored. Then the games will re-appear when you start the game. -
crash to desktop when click on observe
Supreme Cmdr replied to Ekre's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
I can't do anything with corrupted saved games unfortunately. If you have had that character for that long, maybe it is time to retire him? Either that or try not to use the planetary observe feature for awhile and see if it clears up. You may also be having a memory condition because the only thing that will cause such a crash when observing a planet is the amount of data that needs to be loaded. And if you have been doing quick, instead of full saves, there is even more potential for problems as was reported in the past (which is why that feature was removed). You could try packing up the saved game and sending to someone else to try. If it loads on their end and observe works, they can re-save and send it back to you. The saved games are different between versions, so make sure that whoever you are sending it to, has the same exact game version as you. -
UCCE2 under windows 7
Supreme Cmdr replied to Nogitsune319's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
The amount of RAM makes no different whatsoever. Check the game's system requirements, update all your drivers (as well as DirectX) and go from there but my guess is that you're running a 32-Bit legacy game on the latest 64-Bit OS. There's your problem. -
UCCE2 under windows 7
Supreme Cmdr replied to Nogitsune319's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
NONE of those crashes that both of you are talking about are related to the game. So check your installation as well as your system. Also, just because there is a new OS out doesn't mean that legacy games will support it. If you can get the game to run on Vista and Win7, good luck - but don't be surprised if a) it doesn't run you get un-explained crashes -
Yeah, and I don't think Richard has been working on it as much as he used to, since he's been off working for a game company the last time I heard from him.

Need help patching game :)
Supreme Cmdr replied to bakos133's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
You can't patch the game while it's running. And if the game is not running and you are getting patch write errors, you may have problems on your hard drive which you probably need to resolve using chkdsk or similar tool. btw, the latest version is 1.01.04. The D2D page has it incorrectly named as 1.01.05 (no such patch exists). You can also download that patch directly from our site. -
Only admins can do that. You're not an admin.
