No. And please try to keep the silly questions to a minimum; thats why your posts are being deleted (in case you hadn't noticed). There is a limit to the number of silly questions - from the same person - which I can respond to. Since you showed up, you've literally breached that limit. So do try to control yourself. Its probably hard, but try.

quote: Originally posted by DREADA: I was on about whether UC would have the camera view that a lot of simulators have - where your view of the moving entity (car, aircraft etc) is positioned out ahead of it's path, and you then watch it come at you and go past, it's just an additional view really. No. Its useless anyway from a game perspective and besides the game engine already has no less than 11 views (a new F11 one will debut in UC).

quote: Originally posted by DREADA: Is there a new... whats it called, I forgot the ol' term...DDE?? oh I dunno (stop laffin) anyhow the 'destruction sequence' looks even more realistic with burning debris flying off in different directions, cool stuff! Yes, the DeD (Dynamic Entity Destruction) has also been revised and has shader fx on the blown parts. quote: Is that an asteroid field those ships are in, like the ol' ones in BC3k, with pods?!!Yeah quote: will UC get one of those slow movie-styled, flyby views for moving objects, to go with the current xyz axis view??I have no idea what you're talking about. The ships flying by are doing so as normal, there are no camera cut-scenes, special setup or anything like that. I recorded that movie during a normal combat engagement. The latter parts were after I sent my AE to a fighter and launched from the carrier, then gave the carrier orders to defend some target.

quote: Originally posted by Eclipse: Very nice movie, It looks like space combat is a little slower paced than in BCMG which, if it is, I think is a good thing. It is because I slowed down the high speeds of all the crafts in order to make sure they were properly tweaked for the new dynamics model.

Looks like S&S were serious about getting out of the gaming business and have now dropped Eve. Is anyone still playing this (or even EnB for that matter)?

No not yet, good thing too, considering I'm dying to go gold on UC any day now. Your review of X2 makes me wanna go out in the rain and choke the living daylights out of the EB store clerk down at the mall though.

I have done two new movies and have made one of them (the 9min space combat one, which will probably blow your mind) available to the media outlets. So, start checking the sites of the usual suspects until I find time to update the downloads page. I will be uploading the planetary combat one later this weekend because I don't have time now to edit it. EDIT: The following mirrors are now hosting the 640x480 version of the movie. I also did a 320x240 version which is only 48MB, not sure if they will host them or not. So if you're on dial-up, kiss your modem goodbye. Yep, X2 is more of a trading and empire building game, while BC games are more into combat (moreso UC) with a little trading thrown in because we can't have you running around without ammo.

quote: Originally posted by Sean Mirrsen: Ok, I understood. I am not likely to get the game in any but the pirated state (unless one of our official distributors get his hands on this), but that's Russia, I can't do much about it. And, to be honest, I do not intend to pay twice the cost for the officially distributed version, even if one will occur. Unless of course it is the ONLY version available... Still, that's nothing compared to the original price... (even 20$ - minimum for a commercial game - is quite a sum compared to 3$ that we usually pay...) If you can't afford computer games, why don't you find another hobby? You come to my site and tell me that you're going to pirate my game, right? Ok, bye for now quote: Originally posted by LostInSpace: Well Dreamcatcher used Akella for it's Russian distribution for BCMG so I'm assuming they will be using them for UC. I'm sure SC would know that better than me about this. Question how much in Russian money does BCMG cost and what would that translate into American dollars. Just curious. Yes, Akella are the distributors for BCM Gold and UC.

uhm, shouldn't you ladies be doing the roll call from within the options in the Fleet DB?

GBS III to be released with Universal Combat

quote: Originally posted by zardalu: This is all excellent news. Does anyone know if we will have the ability to port animated models into the game, or will they have to be statics? (ie I want to create and import my own wildlife, etc.) Likewise, will the capability exist to create new player/human models? I am nearing an arrangement with Caligari in order that the trial version of GameSpace either be included on the game CDROM or made available for download here on our site. GameSpace is a lot cheaper than MAX or GMAX and a bit more intuitive. Once I get the SDK, I'll have Andrei create a model export plugin. So UC will have export plugins for MAX (assuming I include them), GameSpace and Milkshape3D. And yes you will be able to export static or animated models. Adding new models to the game is not as easy as creating as script and using existing models. It is a major undertaking which requires not only hardcore knowledge, but also dedication seen by folks who do high-end mods (e.g. Total Conversions) such as those seen for BF1942 and similar games. Sure you can replace the ZS10 combat rifle with an M16, but without any low level changes, you can only backup several files (e.g. ZS10.3D, ItemMgr.ini) then rename the new models to match. In most cases you simply cannot add new model classes to the game without access to the game engine code. GBS-III does not provide such code access. As such you are stuck with replacing existing models and using their classes instead (e.g. replacing an ICMK1 model with an F16 model).
