  5. OK, here you go. For you n00bs who want me to spell everything out, draw you a map etc etc, these shots may seem confusing. But its simple. I was on the deck of a carrier, after landing on it with a gunship. I then ran to one end of the carrier, said my prayers, and jumped overboard. That naval carrier battlegroup is directly above a naval sub base - which so happens to be about 4km down and sitting on the seabed. Since I was in cheat mode, I had plenty of oxygen. Normally to get down there, you'd need to pinch a smaller sub (the Wraith, seen in some of the shots) and go down there. Then switch over and nab a larger sub or whatever. Anyway, I swam around the base for awhile, then headed back up. The rest of the shots - I hope - are self-explanatory. photo785 photo786 photo787 photo788 photo789 photo790 photo791 photo792 photo793 photo794 photo795 photo796 photo797 photo798 photo799 photo800 photo801 photo802 photo803 photo804 photo805 photo806 photo807 ps: No.... You can't kill the fish You can't eat the fish You can't be attacked by those sharks You can't fish off the deck of the carrier Fish ain't wots for dinner You can't use any weapons under water
  6. ...I swear, if the next set of shots I release don't make you folks catatonic with anticipation, check your pulse.
  7. ROFTLM.....oh wait, never mind, just read. And no way am I sharing my Def Lepard (sp) collection.
  8. quote: Originally posted by Roff Kaiser: I wonder if we could use the unkillable bear as a moving shield ? ie we assult the base using a bear to duck behind blowing up the whole base 5 hours later. PS can't wait, can't wait, for the best game ever! Bear training is NYI
  9. quote: Originally posted by Marine: There will be nuclear submarines. What that means I don't know. There will be fish as said in a previous post but I am wondering if there will be any hostile underwater life to avoid. Hey you! Yeah, you! I've been made aware of your crap on the DC forums. You bring that stupid crap over here and you'll be banned so fast you'd think the site were under quarantine. In fact, you know what, you're NOT posting here again because I don't want you here. quote: Originally posted by Spindoktor: Those birds.. especially 777.. look like turkeys! Is this a hint we will be shooting turkeys in UC in a couple of weeks?!? WOOHOO! hehe, no. As I previously mentioned, I will turn on their invincibility flag so that they cannot be killed. And as far as behavior is concerned, I'm not turning that on either. So there is no threat of being attacked by bears. Because of the advanced AI kernel, animals are no different from, say, marines. For me to have animals attack, all I have to do is give them some behaviour modification and a threat matrix. But then there is a good chance that you'll have stuff like lions going after horses or such nonsense - unless I write code to prevent it from happening. People who are asking questions about hunting wildlife just don't get it. Its not that kind of game and even if that were allowed, they probably don't even have the horse power to run it if I enabled a threat matrix for them. So, for the very LAST time, wildlife are like the terrain vegetation - its just scenery; as part of the total immersion. Nothing more. Nothing less. And yesterday I put in the option to turn them on/off using commandline parameters. Yes, there are underwater bases (for subs), wildlife (fish, incl. sharks etc), vegetation (seaweed, plankton etc) etc. Will try to post some shots later when I'm testing a scenario in which I have to jump off the deck of a perfectly good carrier. All characters can swim; so there are no special scuba marines. [ 11-13-2003, 06:45 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

  11. Whats a day at the park without the usual sports like duck hunting, bird watching, skeeter shooting, bear hunting....when you're supposed to be guarding the base? Sounds like a day in the life of Resnig. photo759 photo761 photo768 photo770 photo777 photo782 photo783 photo784
  12. quote: Originally posted by Eclipse: They also engage other SFM's when they are deployed, though I have an unconfirmed suspicion that their helmet faceplates are extremely difficult to see out of since they seem to die of exposure faster than from enemy fire. LMAO!!!
  13. quote: Originally posted by Sebbish: BTW, can you pass through the trees? It seems like the question wasn't actually answered. Only some of them e.g. grass, shrubs etc. Thick trees have 3D model trunks which are used as collision detect volumes. quote: Originally posted by Extinct_Reptilia: Animals and vegetation are both considered scenery or part of the landscape in UC. They are both related and therefore it does has something to do with "being able to pass through trees." Rubbish.
  14. *splutter* ROTFLMAO!!!!
  15. quote: Originally posted by DREADA: Well, the mere fact that there is wildlife in the game will make any hardcore bc player grin ecstatically full stop! This is a first and a great addition to an already vastly unique, unrivalled gaming universe. I thought perhaps this was gonna be canned coz of lack of time. So a big thanks, SC! Believe me, the vegetation and the flocking code for these animals, birds, insects, fish etc etc makes the just look/feel different when you're out in the wilderness. Fine tuning touches like issues with collision detect here and there, line of sight etc etc can be tweaked forever and still not come out right. So, the plan is to do the best I can and then whatever I miss will be addressed later.

Then one could assume THAT ALL scenic objects are unaffected by weapons fire and player interaction. All objects are penetrable; you can go right through them. Rubbish. quote: This has really been bugging a lot of my friends and I. It would really reduce the games realism... Whatever. And I don't see where exactly you were promised realism at any level. Better start looking for a different game.
  17. quote: Originally posted by almostpilot: Very cool !!!! Can I ask something ? When in other planets what kind of animals we will find ? Why don't you just go on a safari and find out yourself? If I tell you everything, where will the fun of surprise be? quote: Originally posted by kneecaps: Yes..the question on everybodys lips... can you shoot the animals and if so will they attack back? No, they are scenery and I'm not going to enable their attack matrix because it will just wreak havoc and then I'll have to put in special handling for it, fix what I subsequently break etc etc etc. I may allow you to kill them however - though I have a thing against killing defenseless animals; which means I'll probably enable their invincibility flag.
  18. Please edit the subject of this thread to reflect the name of the movie.

If the game doesn't load because of the SafeDisc copy protection, you won't see anything - including the game logo. You may just have a bad patch install
  20. The very next fool who creates yet another goddamn thread about this or any other already discussed topic, is getting banned without warning.
  21. quote: Originally posted by snoopy2: Never mind, I found out you apparently need at least one shuttle in bay to get access to the drones, (not very intuitive), Whats not intuitive about it? You should have read the manual. If the shuttle is NOT onboard, the tab is not accessible. And if the tab is not accessible, you can't access anything related to shuttles. I guess that never did occur to you, did it? Course not.
  22. Did you try ejecting and re-inserting the CDROM?

  24. quote: Originally posted by kneecaps: Hi, just to add, i've been seeing 21-Nov-2003 for the UK availibillity date! this seems to fit nicely with the US release. I would expect a bit of delay for it to come out over here! Peter Yes, due to the exceptionally high demand (by the retailers) for the game in Europe, we are shooting for a simulataneous US/European release. Which means you can expect to see the game out about a week or so following the US release. In fact, I was asked to scrap the localization (which would have added another two months to the European release) because of this. So, the game will be in English and the manual will be badly translated to match the language.
