It's of course your decision, but I wonder what's so much better about not being able to look up and down (other than that being your preference, Derek ). I personally would prefer the crosshair to be in the center at all times - or better yet: No crosshair at all, but using the gun's iron sights (or scope) for precise aiming. You are talking about clearly different things and I have no idea what you're going on about. Fact is, you CAN look in any direction and this has not changed since BCM and won't in UC. Thats what mouselook is for. Use it. The crosshair marks the direction of fire and will always be there. If it means that much to you, go play another game which doesn't have a crosshair. I never said that I was going to change ANY of this and have no idea where this is coming from. The difference between having your head (the head attached to the mesh) turn in the direction of fire is subjective and won't even be an issue if there wasn't a third person view. And the only way you'd even know that the head doesn't actually turn, is if you were in multiplayer and you asked your friend "...hey Mitch!, am gonna turn, did my head turn?" "..no? uhm, ok, I'm gonna shake my ass now. Let me know if it wiggles or not"..."...what? it didn't shake? That sonofab*tch!!!" ....and of course, none of this detracts from the fp gameplay. Maybe I should just disable the external camera views altogether because the game never was designed to be played from external views.

v2.09 freeware install under Windows XP
Supreme Cmdr replied to dbhankins's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)

The installer [installshield Express] checks for WIN95 or WIN98. Back then WIN2K and WINXP were not out yet. I have no idea if there is a commandline parameter to pass to the SETUP.EXE in order to get it to ignore this OS check. -

v2.09 freeware install under Windows XP

Follow the FAQ again and completely uninstall the game, the DELETE the install folder. Install Direct 9.0b Then re-install the game Copy the 1.01 and 1.01.01 RC7 patches directly into the game install folder and execute them in succession. Also, BCM, BCMG etc at native Windows programs and you do not need to mess with your desktop res and bitdepth. Please tell me where you saw this information please because it relates to the legacy BC3K.

Help: Locating BC3000AD v1.0x
Supreme Cmdr replied to dbhankins's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
quote: Originally posted by dbhankins: Am I wasting my time looking for it? Is it different enough from v2.09 to be worth acquiring, or is everything in v1.01D in v2.09? BC3K 1.0 has very little in common with v2.x. You can find the freeware v2.0x all over the net. -
quote: Originally posted by $iLk: The E2 demo is better anyways... at least I thought so... but it's been such a long long time ago... Yeah, and it uses an more updated kernel than the E1 demo.

OK, it has some tips, but what you will find hilarious, is the commentary within the article. Don't read the one about cutting the power if you have any food or drink in your mouth. No, seriously, don't.
-
If you can't get the E1 demo to install (I don't see why not, cuz it works just fine here), have you tried the E2 demo? Only the E1 demo has a problem installing under winXP because the installer checks for the operating system type. The E2 demo does not.

UC Pixel and Vertex shader requirements
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat Series
Just an FYI, the game no longer requires a Pixel Shader as part of its minimum specs. I have revised my first post accordingly. -
Go back and read the demo page and you'll see why. *topic moved*

Can no longer see support units on earth.
Supreme Cmdr replied to Garuda's topic in Universal Combat Series
You have to be viewing the planet/mzone to see them. Also make sure you don't have any of the filters in the CVD/RTM turned off. *topic moved* -
Due to development constraints, the demo won't be released until after the game ships (around the middle of November). So, expect a single and multi player demo around the end of November - at the very earliest. Quoted from over here quote: OK, OK, kids, you can put down the foghorn now, I'm here and hear you loud and clear. If you have a question that hasn't already been answerd on the official 3000AD forum, by all means, post it here. So far, I see questions about the demo. Quite simply, it was WIP when I abandoned it last week in favor of wrapping up the latest Beta so that we can meet our current ship date of mid-November for a Thanksgiving release. Because it is so close to the wire, focusing on a demo, releasing it, then dealing with support issues will distract me from what I really should be doing right now. That being : SHIPPING the game. But never fear, as soon as you read that the game has done Gold, rest assured my attention will go toward finishing up the demo and releasing it. I have already gone through most of the demo details with Dreamcatcher and the demo will be using the same kernel that the gold version of the game ships with. I anticipate that the demo will appear within two weeks of the game going gold. Like the BCM demo, the UC demo will have various play modes and even though Dreamcatcher opted to not do a multiplayer demo (time constraints), since the demo is coming out after the game goes Gold, there is a good chance that it will have a multiplayer component. LMAO!!! Earlier this morning when I killed the other thread, you had given it a 5/10. Maybe if I delete this thread, you'll give a 9/10 next time around?

You should not experience ANY lag on an internal LAN game; even on a lowly 10mbps lan.

quote: Originally posted by Scrivener: Yeah, the gore is handled in a very silly/unrealistic/sylized manner. For instance, if a head gets lopped off, blood may spray 20ft in the air like it were a red colored sprinkler on the side of the freeway. The most 'gratuitous' portion of the film is also done in black & white, while simultaneously being set to some goofy 70s-style kung-fu action music. Unless you're Joseph Lieberman the gore isn't really that much of issue... it's not 'gross-out' gore like you'd find in a horror film nor is it the sad stomach-turning gore of Saving Private Ryan... it's silly and unrealistic, in a wonderfully good way. Thanks guys, thats the sort of info I was looking for. I'll go see it this weekend then.
