  1. OK thanks. I'm currently working with Sony to figure out whats going on. Will get back to you tomorrow when I hear back from them.
  2. OK thanks. I'll get back to you when I hear back from Sony. So v1.00.04.01 works fine and does not generate an error if you start it without the media and then insert the media, right?
  3. What runtime error? And when you insert the disk, does the game run then?
  4. OK, I have refreshed the file. Try it now please. Download this update. Also plz try it with/without the DVD-ROM media in the drive. You should get a prompt if the media is absent.
  5. Make sure you check your email because I use ChoiceMail One to check for spam. If you haven't sent us email before, you need to respond to that challenge / response question in order for your email to get through. If you don't see that email, check your spam filter.
  6. Can you take a screen shot of it please and send to [email protected]? You can use Fraps or similar
  7. OK, try this. Download this update. Backup your UCCE.EXE file (the working v1.00.04.01) Extract the downloaded file and run the game again. Let me know if that works or not
  8. The DRM used in the DVD-ROM build is the same as with the Direct2Drive build. If this were a DRM issue, you would be prompted for a license renewal. So I think that something else is going on here. For my sanity's sake, I need you to download the patch again, re-apply it, and try running the game again. Make sure that you have your game's DVD-ROM in the drive. But first, I need you to make a backup of the fmodex.dll file in the game folder. This would be the version from 1.00.04.01. Then patch and run the game. If the game does not work, delete the fmodex.dll file that was added by the 1.00.05 patch, then rename the 1.00.04.01 version back and start the game again.
  9. Not sure when you downloaded that, but you have an incomplete file. The 1.00.05 patch file is exactly 19MB (19,966,648 bytes)
  10. OK, I'm closing this thread then, since we already have a DRM thread going on in the post above.
  11. What do you mean by you can't run it? Where did you download this patch from? What is the date/time/size of the ucce_1.00.05.exe file that you using. It is located in your game's folder.
  12. I watched the previous episode and the ending just left me stunned and speechless. I taped last nights episode and will be watching it tonight. Hopefully the networks will renew it. If not, I hope they wrap it up in the next three episodes.
  13. If this issue is in fact related to the DRM used by UCCE v1.00.05 DVD-ROM and/or Direct2Drive version, then you need to post here. Roll back to the previous build and make sure the game runs before you even think of patching it. This way we can determine what the problem is. ps: Spindoktor, I deleted your post because until this person confirms his problem, it had nothing to do with this thread. You know the rules.
  14. The 1.00.05 patch was already re-issued last week and was already posted about.
  15. Any graphics issues you have are up to you, your graphics card and driver to resolve. Nothing I can do about it. The demo does not have a voice narrative tutorial. You cannot swap the axis on the controller. And why would you be able to switch targets while pressing thrust? Its either one or the other.
  16. The public demo has been released and should start appearing on mirror sites. No, we're not hosting it. Until it shows up, you can view the read me file included with it so that you can best prepare. If your system does not meet with the game's minimum requiremens, don't bother. Seriously. Any and all discussions (review, tech support, gameplay etc) related to this demo should be posted in this thread. Post it anywhere else - or create a new thread - and it will be deleted on sight.
  17. I am considering leasing some servers to host multiplayer for a few months. I haven't made up mind yet and of course it would all depend on the sales and the reception of the game. In the meantime, I have updated our multiplayer test servers to the latest v2.10.02 build and removed the password. Each instance hosts 16 clients and there is no bandwidth limit. Remember that this is a test server, as such, it can/will go up/down depending on who needs to use it for testing. The two game instances running are reset every 24hrs hours (starting from 10:15pm EST today).
  18. I'm not surprised. As I've said before, they're a good bunch of folks. Been working with them since 2005 and never had an issue that wasn't addressed in a timely and proper fashion. There's a reason that they're one of the largest DD gaming sites.
  19. I have uploaded this small patch to the update server. Just run the "Check For Updates" shorcut to grab it. FIXED: The orders text display in the first mission shows "ECHO 01 and 02" instead of "ECHO 00 and 01", though the commander's audio instruction is correct. FIXED: The TACOPS option in the COMMAND menu was emulating ALT+S instead of the recently revised ALT+T. The ALT+T hotkey to activate TACOPS worked fine. NOTE: All our patches are cumulative. This means that a current patch will always included items from the previous patch. This way, all you ever need to bring your game to the current version, is to download the current patch either via the game's updater or from one of the mirror sites.
  20. Thats a bookmark. No plans to do that. Plus, whats the point? If it bookmarks p15 and you go to back in to p15, you still have to scroll to p30 if the reason you are viewing the docs is because something on p30 is what you're looking for. Print the PDF files. Thats why they were provided.
  21. You're right, its not clear on the forum page. But its not the forum that people first look for a patch. Actually, I should just not have it in the updater until DR have the new DRM the interface in place.
  22. Those drivers are really old. Try the 169.44 drivers. hehe, I know that part is confusing and I need to probably revise the instructions. If you listen to the audio from the commander, he says "ECHO ZERO ZERO and ZERO ONE". You are ECHO00!!! Only the text message displayed is incorrect and displays 01 and 02. If you shoot at the location of the TLD (the broken box) when within gun range, you should see the rewarding flash of the target's shields with each hit. I try not to mess with the mouse sensitivity due to conflicts with all sorts of mouse programs these days. So, you might want to use your mouse control panel to manipulate that and see how that goes. heh, I can't adjust ship speeds because it would cause a whole heap of problems in other areas. The trick to docking is as stated in the tutorial. You're not going to catch Excalibur if it is too far away. With a cruise speed of 450 m/s and a high speed of 600 m/s; compared to your 255/575, you have to wait until it makes a pass at you. Then catch it on the return trip. In some scenarios, I do have it halt during this period, but in other areas, it makes the ship a sitting duck for hostiles in the area. I really did think of making it halt each time, but IMO it should be a challenge for you to be able to trap dock. Especially in a hostile area. I can't make the game too easy now, can I? Whats the fun in that? btw, did you try the narrative version of the tutorial? Isn't the new Mother sexy sounding? The actress hired to do that VO really nailed it. Which is why I decided to spend the extra money and have her do the tutorial VO as well. uhm, sorry, having bookmarks is what you're suggesting. Too much trouble for too little gain. Which is why you have the ability to print the docs. At one point we used PDF files (you probably saw that in the dev VCF) but I had it scrapped because leaving the game to read the docs and returning broke the immersion. PDF files would have supported bookmarks.
  23. I don't have an X-45, so I can't say why that would happen. I have no less than five sticks here (incl. the Saitek AV8R-01) and they work just fine. I'll take a look and see if I can find anything odd going on. btw, are you sure the game has frozen? It could be that the game is awaiting input. When you left-click on the button you want to remap, the button will be highlighted. You then have to press that button. If the button is not recognized, the game won't return from that function and will keep polling for input. Hence the reason it appears as if it has hung. I really need to add support for the ESC key to abort the op. I'll make a note of it and roll it into the next update. Please fill out a support ticket with a descriptive title plz. Due to conflicts with joystick functions/buttons, pedals are not supported. In fact, that could be your problem. Try unplugging the pedals before starting the game and see if that helps. Oops!! My bad. I did change Tacops from ALT+S to ALT+T in order to revise it and make the "save game" idiot proof. I just forgot to update the menu table. I guess everyone uses hotkeys because nobody noticed it. You're on your own with that. I can't do anything about video driver issues. The game's default AA is 2x and it works just fine when we tested with that card. If your video card craps up at anything higher, you're on your own. I'd like to see a screen shot of this anomaly with the default 2 setting and the 0 setting that you are using. Please fill out a support ticket (with a descriptive title plz.) and attach the files there. Be sure to include your system specs and the drivers you are using. You should be using the 169.44 drivers.
  24. I'm really sorry. You guys know me and that if this was something within my control, that I'd take care of it immediately. It saddens me that someone pays for a game and then you can't play it because you've been given the wrong key. Anyway, if you don't get your key by this afternoon, please contact me via email (dsmart@ you-know-the-rest) and I'll give you an exe protected with another DRM product which I used for the preview. At least you'll be playing. When you get your key from D2D, you can just replace the exe that I send you. In IGN's defense, I love working with them. They are really a great bunch of guys. I've had *no* problems with them or I'd point you to somewhere else where you can buy the game. But you guys know me, I'm a loyalist to a a fault. So hang in there; they'll fix it. From my understanding this is happening because of the preview. For obvious reasons, the preview build used a different DRM certificate than the final build. This is because if we protected the final build, then the DRM license for the preview build - still active on the license server - will still work. The result is you get a free game. So, thats why a different certificate was used. Anyone who bought the D2D version and having the same problem, can contact me. I would need you to send along your D2D receipt as well please, so that I can correctly identify who you are.
