Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE Sneak Preview!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
TIPS: If you fail to destroy all fighters in phase II, the tutorial will end If you fail to destroy the transport ship in phase III, the tutorial will end If you fail above training phases, you won't get to active combat duty which contains one major space battle and one planetary strike mission Don't forget to dock with GALCOM HQ, Excalibur or Merlin and stock up on ATA and ATS missiles before embarking on the planetary strike mission I suppose you vets didn't even bother with the in-game commands then? -
Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE Sneak Preview!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
If you have an XBox 360 controller, you're in for a treat because it vibrates during jumps, guns/missiles launches, collisions etc. -
Saw it yesterday. It sucked. 5/10

The IGN sneak preview is based on 2.00 RC16 build. The general preview version (available to select members here) is based on 2.00 RC15 build. Both of these versions will expire seven days after being installed. The official demo due out around the end of February and before the game's March 3rd release, will be non-expiring. It will also be based on a different build level. You can check the VCF for more info on these builds. Please post all your tech issues/questions in this thread only please.

This thread is for discussing the just now released IGN sneak preview which is also available to select members of this community. If you checked your PM this morning and got the notification, then well, you should be downloading the game by now!! Your version may vary, but you can check the VCF. I've seen some posts elsewhere in which people are complaining about missing DirectX files, running the game, getting a crash, then having to go download them. PEOPLE, thats why there is a WARNING right there in the installer asking you to press OK to update the DirectX drivers OR ELSE VERY BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN!!!! *sheesh* 02-19-08 The IGN exclusive sneak preview page is up. As well as their pre-orders page.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to catching it this weekend.

Universal Combat v2.00.31 Freeware
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat Series
So many questions. My ONE question is why people don't bother to read the manual. Yes, believe it or not, its all in there. And if you don't know how to calibrate your joystick or why the yaw is disabled, then you CLEARLY have read neither the manual nor the game's FAQ. Please don't post again about problems in a freeware game - which works just fine - and to which you were given all the docs. -
If your hardware changes dramatically, then you have to renew your reg code. Even so, you still get four per code. Since we're not getting any such requests, not sure what your problem is. UC freeware is single player only. I have no intentions of releasing the multiplayer version. Once again, please don't take this thread off-topic. Last warning.

Absolutely not Shingen. Everytime you get involved in stuff like this, I start getting complaints, people start leaving, getting banned etc because you don't play well with others. The previous threads with this are still here, having been ported over from the previous UBB forum when we switched. So, please keep your involvement in this forum restricted to tech support and other non-fleet and/or RP activities please. If I find you in any thread other than what I've just said, you - and everyone in the thread -will be banned from the site.
-
I guess you've forgotten the rules. Nobody gets banned unless they do something worth banning them for. But lets not get off track. If you need unlock code for your game, the tech support email address still works believe it or not. You just need to provide them with proof of purchase (e.g. digitial download email receipt)

IGN Tech Preview Next week, a tech preview of the single-player game will be hosted exclusively on IGN for 10K of their File Planet subscribers. This promo will run for a period of seven days. Public Demo The public demo is scheduled to be released within two weeks after the game goes Gold (week of March 10th). That being week of March 17th or 24th depending on how much post-Gold stuff I have to deal with. Multiplayer Servers There will be three official dedicated multiplayer servers which will be hosted by us for twelve months. Each server will be running 2x16 player instances of the game. One deathmatch and one co-op (with NPCs). Fan Base Preview Most of you have been year since when Regan was president I think. But some mostly lurk now. Gone are the days of intense rabbling around here. I guess we've all grown up; and since I've moved on from the kind of games we were all passionate about, some of you may be disappointed, disillusioned even. But thats OK, I get it, but there's nothing that I can do about that. Funny thing is that Gore was just this week at the D.I.C.E. summit echoing exactly the notion I've held for years. That being: àEverybody has an opinion, but when itÆs your game, yours is the only opinion that counts.. The mantra that has always seen me going my own way and quite possibly the primary reason that I've survived this long in such a volatile and unforgiving industry...that is IMO royally screwed up as far as PC games, not to mention innovation, is concerned. The industry has gone sideways and in case you folks hadn't noticed, most all the mainstream indie game devs are either gone or bought out and barely a shell. And if you ask any of the indie devs who are still catering to a niche market (e.g. sims, war games etc), they'll tell you the same thing: that being their install base is either stagnant or dwindling. Trying something new is not necessarily a bad thing and after UCCE, I just wanted to try something new. So, thats where I'm at. And for the next four or five years, thats not going to change. Back to the point of this section.... By next week, some of you will receive a PM invitation with instructions on how to download the tech preview and activate it. If you don't get a PM from me, that means one of the following. In which case, you'd have to wait for the demo or the game's retail release. You haven't been active around here. You're new and don't stand a single chance of getting an invite. You've shown little or no interest in the new games; which I don't blame you for though because as I've said, the GALCOM series of games are different, but I think that ES will suprise a lot of people as much as it has surprised even myself. And I'm the one who designed it from scratch and did 90% of the development work and 100% of the funding. ...and if anyone sends me a PM asking why they weren't invited, I'll just ignore it because I simply don't have time for that. So, there you have it.

Turner's GameTap Gaming Service
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
Continuing whats been happening (games removed, not released etc) in the past months, GameTap has now also cancelled URU Live. -
As mentioned in this dev update, due to the size of the files, I cannot host the trailers. And the mangling done by YouTube, Gametrailers.com etc simply don't do justice to the original content. So, I have put them up as bittorrent files If you don't know what BitTorrent is, then you probably won't know how to obtain these files. However, it is quite simple. Download a BitTorrent client. This can be uTorrent (simplest), BitTorrent or Azureus Install the BitTorrent client and configure it as per your settings. The most important would be to ensure that the client .exe is included in your firewall exceptions list. Also, if you have a router, you would need to forward your configured BitTorrent client port from the router to your computer. For this, visit the excellent Port Forward and you'll be set in no time flat. Open the BitTorrent client and enter the URL to the trailer you want to download. e.g. first right-click on the link (below) and Save Location (Firefox) or Copy Shortcut (IE). Then in uTorrent, you would go to File / Add Torrent From URL and then paste the URL you previously copied. Thats it!! Trailers: 1280x720 xVid* HD Trailer (639MB) 720x480 MPEG2 SD Trailer (309MB) 320x240 QuickTime Trailer (30MB) * You need to have the xVid MPEG4 codec installed in order to play this movie BitTorrent is for community file sharing. The more you share, the faster your download etc. After you have downloaded the movie, please keep your BitTorrent client running for as long as feasibly possible so that others can download the files quicker. If you guys don't share (yes, I can check the stats), then I won't be putting up any more trailers, including the upcoming new ones featuring planetary combat as well as a different space combat scene with the game's actual combat soundfx instead of just music.

Universal Combat v2.00.31 Freeware
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat Series
The FAQ included in the download has some pretty extensive hints and tips for running and configuring it. The game was developed in 2002-03, so don't expect miracles. If you're getting crashes, my guess is they are most likely DirectX or video driver related. You can also try running it in a window (/w1) and see if you get any error msg when it does crash. -
The patch and the servers are just fine. So if you're getting corrupt files from all sites, then the problem is on your end. Naturally. Also, you only need ONE patch, that being the LATEST (1.00.04.01). As indicated on the support page, if you've borked your installation and/or patch, you have NO alternative but to uninstall, kill the folder, re-installer and run the updater. It will then detect that 1.00.04.01 on the site and automatically download and apply it. I just checked the patch server and its working just fine.

Ho Lee Cow!! Whats going on?!! Where'd all these oldies spring from all of a sudden?!?! First Jamont, now Baloogan. Did you guys finally figured out you could pick the air lock after Resnig left using a straw, toothpick and a pair of shoe laces?

No matter what version you have, even if you applied the same patch over the same version, it won't do anything to prevent the game from running. The ONLY times you'll have a problem is (1) if you applied the patch incorrectly (2) you applied the wrong patch type due to the copy protection e.g. if you use the Direct2Drive patch over the CD-ROM version of the game, you'll have problems because those two use different copy protection schemes.
-
...and you wonder why the game doesn't work? Are you kidding me?! Did you not read the notice on the patch downloads page?
-
When hosting a server, you need to indicate what game its for as well as the specs for the server.

The freeware version comes with a full PDF manual. Go download it.
