[UCCE] Problem with SecuROM DRM
Supreme Cmdr replied to Axil's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
1. If you download and applied the two patches as indicated above, the version will roll back and you'll be back to the previous version which worked with the license you have. You don't need to run the updater. And if you don't, you won't get told that 1.00.05 is available. Until we figure out with Direct2Drive whats going on, don't update to the latest version. Apart from that, there are no critical updates in the 1.00.05 patch. So you're not missing anything. It is merely a maintenance update. 2. Software sales are final and no refunds are offered. You are most welcome to take that up with Direct2Drive however. Good luck with that. In closing, I already edited your thread topic and parts of your post. You're just one more flippant comment from being banned from posting. In case you missed the memo, look around this forum. Does it resemble any other gaming forum on the Net? Guess why that is. Yes, thats right. We don't tolerant rubbish around here. Anyway, until we figure out what is going on, I have removed this patch from the updater's D2D rotation. -
[UCCE] Problem with SecuROM DRM
Supreme Cmdr replied to Axil's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Hey guys, calm down!! It could be that the license was invoked for whatever reason. In the meantime, you can roll back to the previous patch version until we figure out what is going on. Here's how: Fire up notepad.exe or similar text editor and load the settings.ini file change the version=1.00.05 line to version=1.00.03.02 save the file run the updater It will tell you that 1.00.04 is available. Let it download and apply. Run updater again. This time, it will tell you that 1.00.04.01 is available. Let it download and apply. You're now back at the previous version. If the above doesn't work or is too cumbersome, just locate the 1.00.04 and 1.00.04.01 patches and apply them one after the other. You can download them from below. However, if you do this manually, then you have to edit your settings.ini file to match the latest patch version you applied. v1.00.04 (Direct2Drive) v1.00.04.01 (Direct2Drive) I'll investigate further tomorrow, but the D2D and DVD-ROM versions use the same SecuROM DRM. -
Which is the right game please?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Axil's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Universal Combat was released in 2003. UCAWA, UCSE and UCCE were released in 2005, 2006, 2007. What do you think is the right game? And please go to the products page and read the descriptions for each game because at the end of the day, the decision is yours. -
The fact that your rig can play other games bears no relevance to its ability to play this game. If you installed and/or patched it incorrectly or have messed with Config settings, you will have problems. And you STILL didn't say which game you're having problems with. UPDATE: From your other thread, you are playing the original - and unsupported (now its been released for free on the Internet) - Universal Combat. This is the wrong forum to post it. *moved*

Some of the multiplayer improvements in the GALCOM mp engine are going to be ported to UCCE (not, not UCSE, not UCAWA, not UC. I said UCCE) for the next release. I have already ported some items over (see latest VCF) and only have to port over the new prediction and orientation code next week after we launch GCES and I have some time. All in all, multiplayer will be smooth as in GCES and I think that all fleets should require their members update to UCCE if you folks want a much better playing experience.

They're right. We're not going Gold until 03/03 Anyway, where did you see that posted? Did you pre-order and get a notification?
-
heh, that would never have been reproduced without your detailed description. I'll have them corrected. I may have missed them when I did my previous checks. No, its correct. The UCCE appendix (take a look at the OBJDEFS.SCR in the GBS files) is wrong. The Starlance uses the shotm1r type rated @ E25 damage and H750 speed. The ICMK1 uses shotm3r @ E45 / H750 This was a typo. It should be 45 The patch installer didn't include the new version, thats all.

Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE Sneak Preview!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
No they do not. They only change color uniformly. You cannot change the intensity of the guns either. -
Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE Sneak Preview!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
A breach (Yellow) is not a failure (Red). It just means that your shields were reduced by 10% or more. Hence the breached warning. A total failure is a breach of 90% or more. I thought of adding them to the graphic but decided against it for some reason or another. As for combat, all I gotta say is this: wait for multiplayer (which we completely overhauled). -
One way to "fix" joystick roll/yaw axes
Supreme Cmdr replied to Joel Schultz's topic in General Discussions
The whole reason the twist axis was introduced is due to the requirement to have rudder controls for flight sims. Before that, most of us had those horribly placed foot rudders (I owned one from CH Products, Logitech et al) for rudders. So when they started adding twist axis to joysticks, that was the point. Which is why a twist axis is for yaw - not roll - in flight games. And traditionally when you pull L/R on a stick, the craft rolls, now yaws. Some games would also allow you to do a yaw (in the absense of a twist axis) by holding down a key (or button) while pulling the stick L/R. -
This patch requires the November 2007 (or later) DirectX runtime Use the game Updater to download and apply the patch. The online VCF has also been updated. NOTES: This patch uses a different installer. Be sure to confirm the location of your install in the dialog which appears!! If you use the game's Updater, it will download the patch and apply it. If you don't want to use the Updater, then you have to check one of the public mirrors for a link to the full patch. WARNING: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PUBLIC PATCHES AVAILABLE ON DOWNLOAD MIRRORS IF YOU HAVE THE DOWNLOAD (e.g. DIRECT2DRIVE) VERSION OF THE GAME!! USE THE UPDATER INSTEAD!!! NOTE Games supported: UCCE v1.00.03 Full (Take2 DVD-ROM retail version) UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (Direct2Drive or Gamers Gate version) * UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (Digital River version) * UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (BMT Micro UCSE to UCCE upgrade version) * * IF YOU BOUGHT THESE VERSIONS BEFORE 11-01-07, YOU HAVE TO EDIT YOUR SETTINGS.INI FILE BEFORE USING THE GAME UDPATER. THIS IS BECAUSE IT NOW SUPPORTS ALL THE VARIOUS DRM VERSIONS. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN YOUR DRM SIGNATURE BEING INVALIDATED (DUE TO AN INCORRECT PATCH BEING DOWNLOADED AND APPLIED). Go to your game install folder and make a backup of the SETTINGS.INI file. Then load the SETTINGS.INI file in Notepad. Go to the UPDATEINFO section and make the following changes depending on which version you have. If you have the current version, no changes are required. When done, save the file, exit Notepad and run the Updater. If you run the game and you are prompted for license info, then you messed something up. In which case you will have to rollback to the previous patch and do it over.

NOTES: If you don't want to use the Updater, then you have to check one of the public mirrors for a link to the full patch; which you should then copy into the game's folder and execute from there. Though this latest patch contains a new SETTINGS.INI file, if the Updater downloads the patch but it doesn't run or you discover that it didn't patch, you may need to edit the SETTINGS.INI file in Notepad and make the following changes : "version=1.00.04" to "version=1.00.03.01" (or change this to whatever the previous version was without the quotes!) Then save the file and run the Updater again. WARNING: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PUBLIC PATCHES AVAILABLE ON DOWNLOAD MIRRORS IF YOU HAVE THE DOWNLOAD (e.g. DIRECT2DRIVE) VERSION OF THE GAME!! USE THE UPDATER INSTEAD. ONCE THE PUBLISHERS MAKE THEIR VERSIONS OF THE PATCH AVAILABLE, THE UPDATER WILL DOWNLOAD THEM. THE TIMETABLE FOR THOSE PATCH RELEASES IS UP TO THE PUBLISHER DUE TO HOW THEIR PROTECTION SYSTEM WORKS.

LATEST VERSION There are two versions, please ensure that you download and execute the correct one!! WARNING: PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE INSTALL PATH DISPLAYED WHEN YOU EXECUTE THIS PATCH OR IT WILL INSTALL TO THE WRONG FOLDER!! By default it auto-selects the folder in which you installed the sneak preview, as this is stored in the registry. v2.00.26 - Tester/Media version For changes since the FULL v2.00.16 build, see the Version Control File.

One way to "fix" joystick roll/yaw axes
Supreme Cmdr replied to Joel Schultz's topic in General Discussions
The twist axis is a yaw op. Anything else is wrong. Hence the reason I have no intentions of changing it. Just because other games - for the sake of dumbing down the concept - do it the opposite way, doesn't make it right. -
Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE Sneak Preview!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
Works as designed. Canceling doesn't take you back to the game. It just cancels the saving op and takes you to the main menu. -
You can only dock with Excalibur in the preview/demo version. I'll look into the Frontend hotspot issue now that I have a lot more info to go on. When you license expires, the .25 patch will extend it by another 14 days. It should display a new hardware fingerprint when the first (.16) license expires. When it does, send it to me via PM. If it expires and you don't get that new hardware fingerprint prompt, let me know via PM.

Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE Sneak Preview!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
There's no invincibility on any cap ships. All I did was delay the breaching of their armor and increased their internal repair times. All this was to compensate for the requirements of the scenario. If its a turn off, then I guess you won't be playing the final version because I have no plans to change it. At all. -
Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE Sneak Preview!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
Thats because it doesn't have one. The camera angle is looking through the cockpit dome. Nothing wrong with Courier fonts. They are perfect for a fixed width font and since they are standard, are guaranteed to work on all machines and within the new GUI interface. There was a reason I picked it. That would be the reasons. Pretend they're not Courier fonts and you'll be just fine.
