Which is why (a) I moved the thread (instead of deleting it) ( I re-opened the thread (even though another mod closed it) © I decided to let the guys have it...with me taking the pre-requisite pot-shots from the sidelines. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm taking it easy. Its their site, so, they can run it how they want from now on. I'm just the guy who pays the bills and has the veto powers. quote: Speaking of ship pointing, if you set to jump to hyperspace and turn off the autopilot you can steer while in hyperspace and pull a 180. Yep. It was designed to do that. It is a left-over from an abortend Newtonian flight dynamics engine. quote: And that is the end of this thread for me atleast. Somehow I seriously doubt that.
  2. Ah I see. No wonder mine worked, it used the proper one only in debug mode. doh! Anyway, this small 2.8MB EXE fixes this problem. Unzip to your BCM folder and overwrite the current version. I have modified and re-uploaded the 1.0.03 patch to all mirrors to contain this fix. Note. This EXE also has a updated SafeDisc digital signature for compatibility with more drives. So, be sure to backup your existing BCM.EXE first, just in case. [ 12-21-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

I was actually trying to provoke them. Is it possible they don't see me as a threat? They no doubt consider engineers and medics to be non-threats, but I wonder how they feel about officers? I know why that happens. It is related to their SA and if they already have a primary target. I'm going to be revisiting that at some point. Read the very bottom of the VCF. 4. LMAO!!! OK, someone else please. This time I'm serious though, I really do NOT understand it.
  5. Damn!! You should've taken some shots of that firing squad!!
  6. quote: Originally posted by Simparadox: My goal is to keep it running for one week at the very least. [ 12-21-2001: Message edited by: Simparadox ] Make sure you have an ample support of Radine and Nutripaks!
  7. I can't see why that would happen. I have already explained how station PTA turrets work. As for ground forces, if they don't see you, they won't engage. They're not super human. Unless I'm missing something?
  8. quote: Originally posted by Joe Redhawk: Mr. Derek Smart,I didn't even notices the appendix and what good is that information if you don't have access to it. Thank you for being disrespectful and curt. I gave your game a second try, I owned BC3K V1.0 when it first came out. I wrote that critique since I was new and my comments were directed to where I was having problems. I should of left out the suggestions, since I was still learning the game. Yet I felt short changed by this game and at that time my patience had pretty much run out (an accomplishment in itself, then again it is the holidays). All the potential in the world doesn't amount to a hill of plutonium if you can't tap into it. BTW, this game still needs a time accelerator badly. Till later, Toodles, Joe "I'm the root of all that's evil but you can call me cookie." 1. I really do NOT know HOW anyone could possibly miss that shortcut to the appendix, especially since it is RIGHT THERE next to the VERY SAME shortcut you use to run the game. 2. To tap into potential you have to commit to it. If you can't commit, you're wasting your time. This applies to real-life, entertainment as well as games. You get what you put in. Put in zero and you get zero back. 3. No. The game does not need a time accelerator and will NEVER have one. You need patience. You haven't even learned HOW to play the game yet, and you want a time accelerator. Go figure.
  9. quote: Originally posted by [PCA]Pheonix: SC dont be quite so hard on him he does have a point I get it in Jupiter but have been too scared to explain Basically, when you get near one of the moons, it turns a ruddy brown transparent colour, the frame rate takes a huge hit, and it is generally wierd... See above. And the transparency is zero frame rate hit. There are a LOT of moons in that one region (and also Uranus, Saturn etc). Unless you have the power to handle it, don't go there if you are running at high res and in 32-bit color mode.
  10. quote: Originally posted by AshSpear: I just wanted to post an observation reguarding the SF marin jetpacks. My AE's jet pack is back to normal with the .3 patch. I has the original 4-point thing, but the other SF marines outfits in the game still have that half jetpack for marines on planets... No big deal, and it is always possible that I've done something wrong. Any ideas? Would somebody mind translating that for me please? Thanks.
  11. quote: Originally posted by Joel Schultz: Well, I'll be! The patch fixed my save game; I can leave the planet now! Thanks, SC! heh, the impossible I do at once. Miracles take a little longer.
  12. uhm, no problem
  13. Thread re-located. I'm going to let you guys deal with this one because I can't be bothered. He's asking for missile specs (I dunno what he thinks the online appendix is for) when in fact it doesn't seem as if he knows which way the ship is pointing. Oh well. Regardless, keep it clean guys. Remember, you do NOT have to respond if you don't want to. You're better off NOT responding, than you are degenerating the thread. This one has troll written all over it. As such, mods/admins, at first sight of disruption, please close the thread and delete his profile (admins). [ 12-20-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  14. The cheat should still work. Read the 1.0.03 VCF JJ and you'll see why you probably couldn't get it to work.
  15. Let me know if the new mine launching direction in 1.0.03 solves your problem.

  17. quote: Originally posted by Gustavo: I would like to know if it is possible for you (or if you want to, of course) to create some... huuu... "researching free missions". Let me try to explain it. you could set some kinds of situations like "you need to search an artfact in TAU CETI system. You need to search every planet or moon to find it. If you do, you have to take it to the starbase xyz and receive a reward (money, XP or goods)" So you woudn't need to go into battle to do this (depending the Game AI). Sure. When I find time. But during the holidays, I will be finishing up the docs for GBS-II. This will enable others to create such scenarios.
  18. quote: Originally posted by Papi: Hi Saint19, try filtering enemies out in tacops and try to look if you can find your troops. I've noticed that sometimes I had to do it before I could find my support crafts in crowded enemy territory. Or you can use the support units tab in Tacops/Zoom-To. I implemented it specifically for that purpose. And in 1.0.03, it will work even if the CC is NOT on the planet.
  19. quote: Originally posted by Gustavo: BTW, is there any special planet or moon with few bases where I can practice a little? thanks for helping : ) Try one of the Commander careers in the Training Academy.

  21. quote: Originally posted by Grayfox: All i can say about this game is wow... i remember reading a nice article on it in CGCDmag, and gettin the demo disc from them about a month later, and i was hooked. I honestly had never heard of BC3k or any other works by Derek Smart. So, i looked up the webpage, and found out about BC3k and some more info on BCM. I was really interested in seeing what BC3k was like, but nowhere out here (Las Vegas) carried it, and i dont have a credit card so i cant buy online, so i waited and it came out for free as a d/l... even as dated as BC3k was, it was fantastic... i love the whole go wherever do whatever premise. I kept checking the 3000ad website often to see when BCM would be released. When it did come out in Nov, i didnt have the cash for it, so i had to wait... i just bought the game this past sunday lol. Although there was an issue w/ my vid card, the troubleshooting file helped solve that, and now im just tearin thru space as a cop, bustin terran insurgent heads. Mr. Smart (dont know ya well enough to call you Derek) thanks for making such a great game. I have told my friends about it, and told them to check out BC3k and about 90% of them loved it and are going to buy BCM. and hopefully i did the link to my system info in my sig right... Cheers for now Thanks for the support!! And don't forget to tell your friends about the Christmas special offer. Check the announcements thread for more info!
  22. quote: Originally posted by SteveM: Have registered. No point posting spec as my game pc is now in the shop, posting here from work. When its back I'll know what to put in the profile. heh, OK. btw, the reason you are asked for your forum handle in the reg form is for exactly this reason. I can do a quick DB search by the handle and know if you registered or not.
  23. quote: Originally posted by richterm: SC-Doh! Bad construction on my part...I did not mean to imply that BCM was missing anything "from the back of the box" --- which is one of the principal complaints concerning DAoC. I was actually trying to point out that BCM is being patched continually and that's a good thing...next time, I'll be a tad more careful. hehe, no worries. I got the gist of what you meant. And I was just clearing the air.
  24. quote: Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: Alrighty. Here it is. It starts with this (non-glitched), and turns into this, if you get the camera in a specific angle. It seems to make the moon actually disappear, while putting a white overlay over the whole screen. I think this is the thing netshaman is talking about. 1. Those images show NOTHING 2. This has already been discussed. If the planet (or ANY model) is BVR*, it won't be rendered. Try launching from a station, then target a jump gate. Engage HJ and then activate the F4 view. As you move away from the planet/moon, it will go BVR and no longer be rendered. It is a performance enhancer. And that nonsense above frame rates taking a hit because of that, it just that: nonsense. *Beyond Visual Range [ 12-20-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

That would be the case if you are using invalid saved games. I personally extensively tested both save game options and there is NO such anomaly. So, check the integrity of your install and quit spamming my threads. [ 12-20-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
