Besides, I'm going to have my own special ship class and design. No, you won't be able to destroy my ship or homebase. So quit thinking about it. On mp servers, think of me as the all-seeing-eye. I won't be involved in any combat. I'll just be moving around, chatting, observing etc. And if I want to get involved, I'll login as a different AE handle and turn off my invincibility flag. Most of the Beta testers will be Game Masters too, and will be indestructible when logged in using their primary profiles. If they want to play as normal, then they would need to login using different profiles. The same will apply in BCO.

quote: Originally posted by Cytruss: Hi there,I have a save game that is about 12 hours in. And guess what? When I go to load the savegame now, it runs out of memory? I have... 1.9Ghz Pentium 4 512M of RAM w/4000G Swap 30G HDD It was working fine, been playing this save game for a couple of days now. After upgrade to the latest version. Is there anyway to get this fixed? Thanks. -- Dan Send in the saved game. Be sure to check the announcements thread for details on how to pack up and send saved games. Make sure that you are running the LATEST version of the game (1.0.03) and that the saved game is from that version. i.e. not carried over from any previous version. Since you assert that it is reproducible, you should be able to tell when to save it.

This patch is only available locally. VCF to reflect what is contained in it. The second issue in the bugs section, has still not been reproduced and am going to classify it as a no-bug and remove it unless the person who reported it, sends me a saved game (prior to the CTD occurence). The first issue is still being investigated and can only be reproduced in the submitted saved game (which already has that occurence) and not in a new game. Still looking into that one. That was BRILLIANT!! See, this is the kind of thing I'm talking about. You couldn't dock your shuttle with the command craft. So you exited the shuttle, flew in space and entered the command craft via an airlock (which is why the / key worked). Don't you just luv this game? btw, as for what you describe about wanting to see inside your ship from space....if my technologies go as planned, you can expect to do just that in BCTC due out later in 2003 due to use of portal based technologies. In fact, I'll probably enable the ability to smash in airlock windows if the airlock won't open. Since those areas would be marked as presurised, breaking the window won't have any effect on the ship....unless of course someone is in the airlock area (where they shouldn't be, to begin with).

oh look, it works.

You can download the 1.0.02 to 1.0.03 incremental patch so that you don't have to re-download the whole 7MB patch again.

Reproduced. Looks like the recent fix related to a CTD when trying to leave a planet (in some rare cases) affects this. I never checked the TA scenario which is why roam/acm/ia work fine. -

Send in the saved game please. -
So what you're saying is that if you dock at a station in order to do repairs while flying a shuttle, and you then click the cargo button, it will CTD?
-
And further, just because they have parts, doesn't mean they're going to give it to you.

Thats one of the reasons why regions with a lot of moons, e.g. Jupiter, have sub-regions rather than have the planet and ALL its moons in one region. You'd NEVER be able to run it without a 2Ghz, 512MB, GF3 rig - especially if a massive battle ensues.

Only when I'm developing and/or fixing it. I know what it does. I designed it. So, playing it, for me, is a boring chore. The AI does surprise me from time to time, since its one variable I cannot control. But all in all, after doing this series for so long, I simply do not have the patience nor the time to sit down and play it like an end-user. ...thats what I have testers for [ 12-21-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

General Critique of Battlecruiser Millennium

quote: Originally posted by Thermidor: Not for long..when multiplayer comes out I doubt pausing the game will be an option. Actually, I keep forgetting to address this: BCM does *not* pause when you go to sub-systems e.g. Logistix, Tactical. It does update the internal ship systems and the outside world, but a lesser degree. In fact, go into Tactical and send someone somewhere, then toggle their assignment to display the location and watch. The outside game world is only paused *completely* when you dock at a station or base, but again, since you are docked at the station, their systems are updated, just like your internal ship systems. In multiplayer the only variable which will change is the pausing of the game while docked at a station. In fact, I started working on that code and commented it out. It will make its debut in a future pre-mp patch so that people can get used to it etc
