So, I'm not going to breathe a word about it - except when I release it to the testers and brief them on it. I'm not interested in public opinions nor wishlists. Thats why I have 100+ beta testers. BCM mp is not BCO, therefore its going to be limited in a lot of ways in order to make it worth playing. [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

I've tried everything that I can from the FAQ page and the rebot responses for the tech support e-mail center. Its not a BCM error, so its useless to me and there's nothing I can do about it.

The next fool (e.g. TRescott) who sends me a private message when in fact their profile is not set to receive private messages (because they foolishly have that option off), is going into my private message ban list. The time it takes to click several times to go read+respond the bloody thing, is my time wasted. This is the THIRD person this week thats done this. If you don't call someone on the phone, then leave them a wrong number to call you back on, don't bloody send me private messages if I can't reply to them because you have it turned off in your damn profile. And to answer your question (TRescott) as to Why did you choose to use a pasy service for the users to download from?. None of your damn business. Are you paying for my bandwidth? And is there some directive that says I have to host files on a service of your liking? [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

LOL!!! Nobody hates you. Its just that you've bit off more than you can chew - and I just hate to be the one to tell you that. ASL = Above Sea Level

Until MP is actually released, these discussions are fairly useless.

....and how do I get it on gnutella without having a gnutella server? I don't want to host one. Period.

I suspect that you still had the tractor beam engaged when you went and turned on power to launch control. That WON'T work. In a case like this, you have to disengage the tractor, turn power back on, then recapture the craft. You will then be prompted again.

How many times does a thread about these harmless castes, have to be created? I really should delete this one, but anyway. Its simple, if you don't like the caste, don't play it. BCM sports a fully fleshed out world. Just because a caste doesn't seem to make much difference now [bCM] doesn't mean that it doesn't have a purpose in the general scheme of things or future entities (games, books, movies etc) in the franchise For one thing, in BCO, Explorers will be the only castes able to research new planets, mark them for colonization, allow other players to actually build on them etc. [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

quote: Originally posted by Mindglow: I think I found a bug, It's on Planet EORI, Coordinates 23 North 36 West (approximatly) There is a starbase that is under the ground there. Save the game and send it in with instructions. If you send in a saved game that does not follow the conventions already described in another thread, I'm going to bury you deeper than that starbase. You have been warned. quote: Also, I can't remember where the thread is, but that guy that is trying to deploy his troops on the ground (FLAT ground) and it's not working, well I can reproduce it too. That was just nonsense. Same here. quote: I can get marines to deploy but vehicles do not (and yes there is a marine in the vehicle and the vehicle is a ground unit) See above. quote: Also, when you deploy from space, as soon as the shuttle hits the atmosphere it just returns back to the CC with out going to any other waypoints. I suppose we can't deploy from space huh? Nonsense. If you don't know how to use waypoints, go read the manual. You'll soon figure out why the shuttle (or a FC) will do an auto-RTB once it hits the waypoint. This is NOT the thread for it. Go over to the newbie forum. quote: BTW that issue with the guy who's machine locks up on close only after playing BCM, it's your video driver still using resources in the system and the system can't shut the driver down until it clears them, either the driver needs to be rewritten Quit stating the obvious. You're just being repetitive and making me have to type this up. quote: or BCM has to be rewrote. Yeah, thats probably it

quote: Originally posted by Pery: I can see how the filtering of TTD visibility for conditions like Friend vs. Enemy could change from game to game or over time as alliances changed. Nonsense. It doesn't. TTD filtering has nothing to do with alliances. quote: I thought this was a TTD visibility issue because a Miscellaneous or Tactical building should not change state as long as it is intact. Nonsense. There is no such thing as TTD visibility. quote: I did not see anything in the manual about the definitions of the Tacops Filter Options, so I may very well be misinterpreting this. Indeed. See above quote: I also do not know the full filtering equation and the priority of Miscellaneous vs. the other options, so it could be that some other variable is causing the Miscellaneous option to act as if it were inverted, but that seems like a bit of a stretch. Nonsense. There is no equation. TTDs are filtered depending on the settings in the Tacops filter menu. Some target TTDs fall into more than one category. e.g. If you toggle all friendlies off, it will also toggle of ALL of the TTDs, regardless of other filters. quote: It may not have been clear in my prior post, but in the "OK" scenario, mbase_01 shows a TTD on the Barracks, and the Miscellaneous filter option has an "X" next to it; unchecking the "X" box causes the Barracks TTD to become invisible. That is what I expect to see. Yes. See above quote: In the "bug" scenario, mbase_01 does not show a TTD on the Barracks, and the Miscellaneous filter option still has the default "X" next to it; unchecking the "X" box causes the Barracks TTD to become visible. This seems inverted and is an example of what appears to be an inconsistancy. Nonsense. Its not a bug. See above quote: If that is how TTDs are supposed to behave, then that's fine - I just don't understand the filtering equation (no big surprise there - this darn game is deep) but I can fiddle with the various filter options and get the TTDs turned on one way or another. Its nothing to do with the TTD. They are always on, until you start fiddling around with filters. The Tacops feeds off the ship's Tacscan radar system. And in fp, it feeds off your DIE radar unit. So the filter in the Tacscan can also affect the Tacops TTD and filter. Try putting the Tacscan in SUL mode and going to Tacops to see what I mean. And you shouldn't be fiddling around with filters you don't understand. Its like opening up your car and trying to figure out where the oil filter is. Then you yank out the distributor cap and wonder why the car won't start. The reason I enabled the ability to (a) toggle the TTD info and ( filter the displayed TTD are for decluttering and performance reasons. The TTD is line drawn + text. TT fonts are very expensive. So, the more info the TTD has and more TTDs displayed, the slower the performance - depending on the video card in use.

quote: Originally posted by Pery: It is easier to see and play with than to explain. In some cases while reproducing this with different MZones and bases, all TTDs are sometimes hidden, so the exact filtering changes depending upon the order of base/city selection. ...and this is a bug because? What'd I miss or am I the only person who doesn't understand this?

quote: Originally posted by AshSpear: Sorry. That's what I had meant by "get it to work."[ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: AshSpear ] np. I will check it out to make sure nothing fishy is going on. I just checked the dynamics of both mines and they are the same. So, they should both be launched at the same speed and I see no reason why one would stick to your ship.

quote: Originally posted by Greybeard: I found a minor problem with retrieving an FC the way you just described. I had the power to the launch bay turned off (as a security measure). The first time I locked on with the tractor beam, I was asked if I wanted to retrieve it and I said yes. Then, I was reminded that there was no power to the launch bay. So I went and restored power but I was not given another chance to retrieve the FC. I tried several times. That sounds like a bug. Will look into it right now.

quote: Originally posted by $iLk: Darn... If I wanted to save it, could I just save the bcmk3.3d and the skin for it and reapply after the patch? If you want to save it, backup the modelsbcruzmk3.3d model before patching. Then after you patch, rename the new model to something else and restore the backed up model. The old model will still use the new textures, but the internal bay will still be rendered. The new model removes the internal bay and textures (bay.bmp) in order to conserve polys and texture memory.

BC vets on the newbreed of newbies

So, with BCM out and all the reviews singing the same old song, thats the kind of crowd (the kind we want) the game is attracting. Which is why these next gen newbies are smart and have yet to make the same mistake twice. It's kind eerie, I tell you. Eerie indeed. If this keeps up, am gonna have to revert back to chomping on my beta team - since they don't care what I think or do to them anyway. -

quote: Originally posted by Badgerius: Don't forget RTFM! knock it off. Thats not in the manual, is it? e.g. RTM (a CVD mode), is not there. I took one look at the list and recognized over 25+ that are not in there (yes, I designed the game, so I know whats missing at-a-glance)

So no, this exploit does not exist in the upcoming patch.
