So, I suppose the RC9 patch puts a damper on the get-rich-in-Earth schemes, eh?

Could anybody help me with four things?

3. Go to some of the sub-regions in Uranus or Jupiter region. or just find a spot on the planet and land there. Put the ship in HALT mode, activate the A/P and leave it there. [ 12-07-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -
quote: Originally posted by Gallion: This happens when the EMD system is activated; either by the player or the target. Not a bug IMO, just one of those undocumented features Tac TTFN There's nothing undocumented about it. You have an EMD. So do they. Thats what the EMD indicator in the CVD/VID mode is for. You can always tell when they're jamming too.

If you're moving faster than the missile....well then.

Why do turrets even attack missiles. those things have 5k armor no chance of killing them. would be nice if they were removed from PTA targeting. turrets are weak as they are, and have them spread their attantion over useless targets seams like a waist of what little fire power they provide. [ 12-07-2001: Message edited by: EAGLE ] Only station turrets have the ability to fire at missiles effectively. Guess why that is.

quote: Originally posted by Oban: GryphonThanks good info, but I have one question, have you ever noticed a turret unable to fire in all of its 180 degree arc because of the structure of your ship? Cheers That won't happen. If it doesn't fire, it means that either the target is out of the firing arc, the turret has insufficient power, or the target acquisition array is already populated by other targets, which then starves that particular turret of any targeting info. Also the turrets won't fire unless they have a very high probability of hitting the target. The more targets in the array, the more processing that is required. Typically each turret can process up to 16 targets simultaneously and in real-time. As for the firing arc you mention, have you not seen how turrets work? I don't think you have or you won't be asking these questions. How do you think they can track and firing at a target constantly e.g. from left to right, as long as the target is still acquired and all the above params are fullfilled. Turrets are not on ships for glitz. I painstakingly, hand crafted each vector into each and every ship, using BCS. It wasn't easy and its not my idea of fun.

I fixed your sig for you Erik

OK, 1.0.02 RC9 is uploaded now. WARNING All RC5 or higher saved games are backward compatible but WILL be deleted by this update in order to safeguard against folks still using v1.0.01 saved games. If you wish to keep your RC5 or higher saved games, backup all the files in the SAVE folder. Apply the patch. Then copy the backed up files back to the SAVE folder.

Next on my list are these two holes 1. Being able to use the Tacops zoom-to to view a region where you have ships in. Later, unless you have a probe there, this will no longer work. 2. Shuttle towing. Later, the shuttle speed will depend on the mass of the object its towing. Have it tow a Stormcarrier, and you'll be there a week trying to leave the region.

If I land my CC next to the base, transfer to the shuttle and dock at the base. I'm going to have to go to space and back to get back to the CC. If I am positioned at a waypoint, then it is the waypoint of the Planet, not the base. When you have concrete information for me to investigate, be sure to post it. But since you're probably just adlibing this (as per your previous post), quit spamming the thread with something you're not certain off, until you get home from work. -
Yeah, I pulled the patch temporarily. Will post when I re-upload it.

quote: Originally posted by Badgerius: This is just an annoyance, as long as you've docked in a shuttle. If you're in an OC and this occurs (Note: I haven't tested it in an OC. I'm at work now. Could someone give it a try?) you could easily end up in the middle of an ocean, which would make it a game ending bug. I know that in BC3K you would leave a starbase at the same point you docked at it, so I'm guessing this is incorrect functionality. Its not a bug. You will be positioned at a waypoint around the object you docked with. You're not going to be back at the same spot you were when you docked - and you are certainly not going to end up in an ocean. Where the heck did you get that idea from? -
1.0.02 RC9 is out. Check the downloads page.

Anything to do with modding the game and/or screwing up your data files, goes in GBS. Edit any of those INI files, and you'll regret it. I suppose you didn't notice the number at the very top of the assets.ini file, huh?

The calculation for NPC and your ships are the same. The 4 average systems on the NPC are displayed only as a cue for you, since those are primary systems. In fact, you have a better advantage than an NPC because you have more systems in most cases. The shield, armor and overall integrity are not related to each other in any shape or form. They are all independent. That algorithm has not been changed since the first BC title. Why? Because it works. It is accurate. Thats how I designed and developed it to work. I'm not changing it. Period. If I continue to see senseless posts in this thread, I'm going to close it.

You will be banned from the forum effective 12 midnight tonite if you do not comply with the registration requirements. As I said in this thread. NO EXCEPTIONS. And I also said to provide as much info as possible. There is NOTHING in that reg DB that could be used for any purposes other than what it is intended for. And in fact, apart from your real name, you can skip the personal info (address, tel no etc) part because those fields are NOT mandatory. In fact, your posting priviledges are hereby revoked. And if you don't comply by the due time, your profile will be deleted and you will no longer have access to the board (which is now closed to the public, unless you are registered). quote: I believed this to be worth reporting, as I don't remember ever having read about anything similar being reported. Indeed. But you've screwed up by not securing the saved game and sending it over. If you've restored your AE, you solved the problem. When the AE dies, the game should end. And the fact that it didn't, is probably why your shuttle (the primary asset since the AE is in it) was not fully rendered. quote: Since not everyone is experiencing this, I'm guessing that the crashes are my hardware. (maybe the sound burst thing too)However, I've read at least one other person complain BCM made his computer unstable and that it wouldn't let any other programs run after exiting. (He was whining) I think SC responded to him. I can't remember where I read it, and I can't seem to find it using search. I'll look some more tomorrow if requested. That was all related to using invalid saved games
