Lets get this show on the road. The first VCF is now online. This first patch will be released as soon as the game starts shipping so that Radeon users can play the game out of the box. The second entry in there is minor and doesn't affect anything. I am going to be installing Solobug (a bug reporting tool) on the server soon. It will allow the posting of bugs directly into the database which I can then search and sort out. This alleviates issues related to having to read through tons of posts, looking for bug reports. As with all previous BC titles, the rules are clear. Here they are again: [*]Once you have the game, you must first register. Failure to do this, will result in you not getting speedy tech support. Enter as much info as possible in the form. This way, once I see a bug from you, I can look up your details without having to ask for information you already have in there. e.g. video card type etc [*]READ the VCF and the FAQ first before posting. This cannot be stressed enough. [*]Do NOT create a thread if the issue is already being discussed in another thread. [*]If you bought the title, it means that you are part of an elite group of gamers who knows their system inside out. Either that or you are an aspiring elite person. If you're not one of these, don't post until you've learned the ropes. [*]It is assumed that your system, prior to installing and running BCM, meets with at least the minimum requirements for running the game. This is documented on page 3 of the manual, on the box and on the products page. It is further assumed that you have installed the latest mouse, video and sound drivers, in addition to DX8b or DX81 (currently in Beta) and other drivers your system may need, e.g. Via 4-in-1 drivers. [*]This board runs on a NO FLAMES policy. The first flame, disrespect or any other hostile post, will be met with swift and sudden action. Regardless of whether you own ten copies of the game or whether you own all three titles in the series, step out of line and you WILL be banned. Owning the game does not entitle you to access to this forum. [*]The [email protected] address is monitored regularly as always. Any issues sent to that address and which are already discussed here, will be deleted. [*]3DFX Voodoo and Radeon cards are NOT SUPPORTED in ANY shape or form. As such, don't expect ANY patches or fixes going forward. Sure you can post any issues you are having, in the hopes that someone has a suggestion. But don't expect anything beyond that - expecially not from 3000AD. The same goes for any driver related issues. For these, go complain to your hardware manufacturer.WE CANNOT FIX DRIVER PROBLEMS. Why? I'm not hosting the free release anyway.

The only update which I will include in the first patch are some appendix HTML files containing some changes that Gallion put in (he forgot a file) after the game went Gold and some other changes/corrections I had to make (similar to those I made in Gallion's original files). The appendix on Nova's site is obsolete.

As important, if the answer of the above question is the latter (having to use the keymapping utils) is BCM compatible with them (many games aren't)??? Some keys and controls are mappable, others are not.

I scripted one or two IA scenarios for the marine career which include NPC teams on your side. The marine career does not have command control, so you can't order NPCs. To do that, you'd have to play a regular Commander career and order your own marines around.

Starship troopers is a 3 on the gory scale. I can watch that. e.g. The first scene in House On Haunted Hill, grossed me out and I left right there and then.

You'd only want to see this if you are a fan of Jeff Bridges and/or Kevin Spacey. It was so-so, but the ending just fell flat. Wait for the DVD otherwise

I was going to watch it last night, but saw K-PAX instead. I will probably pass on it because I heard its gory. I don't like movies which portray gratuitious gore. How gory is it? On a scale of 1-10, with Saving Private Ryan being an 11.

Yep, the game is shipping before any new demo. Besides, I'm taking it easy and the effort going into another demo can go toward doing the mp code.

ARGH!!! ATI's doing it again...

quote: Originally posted by Tim: I have read these threads and the soapbox, but have a small question SC. You don't mention the Quadro 2 Pro chip based Nvidia cards. I was under the impression that these were tweaked standard chips, but cant get it to work with demo 2. I don't have any problems with my other games, inc. DX8 only MaxPayne. I have just finished updating card BIOS, MB drivers, card drivers and DX8a. Have checked FAQ and tried all pertinent tweaks and BIOS changes but still no joy. Has anyone got this type of card working? This was origonally out of a Dell workstation, but also sold by Elsa as the GLoria3, I am using Nvidia XP drivers. I would really like to try as I have pre-ordered the game ;-) Thanks I don't have that card. But the kernel used in the E2 demo is too old, so I won't worry about it if I were you. Wait until you get the game and we'll sort it out. I don't have any of those cards here. I've already hacked in a fix for Radeon cards so that the game works on them out of the box. I heard back from ATI and apparently there is a bug in the TnL driver, not to mention the bugs I discovered in their DirectX 8 support which provided me with a clue as to what hack I had to come up with. Lets see how long it takes them to fix these driver problems. I was going to do another demo, but I'm worn out and have abandoned it. Its too much hassle sorting out the files etc. Besides the game is shipping next week and I'd rather spend my time on multiplayer. -

In other words, do the first edition run from the production house exceed the pre-orders or not? BCM will be available in EB stores as well as for online ordering, but only pre-orders at those locations, will be honored. If you walk into an EB store and find a spare copy, then you're in luck.

Can anyone tell me whether forests are included in the gold release and if so exactly what we can expect to see ie small clusters of trees or blanket cover? None. I didn't enable it in the final release because I didn't have time to fully implement and test it. So I moved it to the wishlist item for the forthcoming add-on.

A movie? heh, as much as I hate cut-scenes, I hate game movies more. I believe in demos because its far less work. And all the game mags already carried the demos.

You can't use an ATM card Nick. Just go to the bank, get the cash, get a money order, print the order form and mail it in.

It's time they deal with the developers on this. How else is it going to get fixed? They havn't shown any interest in listening to the average joe gamer. I could care less what they do. I didn't ask to be on it. FYI, I sent them email about these problems about TWO WEEKS ago. Still no reply. After checking all the drivers and getting ready for the deluge once BCM ships next week, I just had to get it out of the way and over with. -
