  1. OK, this is not the thread for this. I'm creating a new one in the Fleet forum.
  2. Jaguar, really you shouldn't have posted that. I wrote in plain English and I'm not sure why some (e.g. you) understood it and some didn't. You should've just let them carry on and lets see who gets banned first.
  3. quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: Please clarify. [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Epsilon 5 ] You're right. Its a stupid question. If you consider yourself to be a useless fleet leader, then you're one of the ones I'm speaking of. You guys just get it, do you? I read EACH and EVERY forum here. I see recruits, wing leaders etc all posting trying to find where their leaders are etc. I see newbies getting even more organized in some quarters. Its as if some of the vets have some just become complacent. I have said this once, and I'll say it again - when I take the Beta mp fleet only servers live, they will all be password protected. And NOBODY, and I do mean NOBODY is logging on there if you are not in a fleet. In fact, there is a VERY good chance (as I've said before) that I'm not even going to allow users to setup servers, for the same reason I maintain security on this forum. If I do go that route, there will be free servers and fleet servers. I promised multiplayer, and that means I can enable LAN play but not allow anyone to play on my Internet servers - WHICH I GOING TO BE PAYING THE BANDWIDTH FOR -. So, don't say you weren't warned. I've said this going back almost a year (do a search for 'multiplayer' and you'll see) and the game has Gone Gold and work on multiplayer resumes in full swing in about two weeks, once I get all the servers up and running.
  4. Leo, you are NOT my customer. You downloaded a freebie. And even if you did have the original boxed unit, it is NO LONGER supported. How else can I put it to you? I mean, seriously, HOW?!?!? And with your system, you're not going to play ANY future titles in the series. Ever. Heck, your system can't even run the 1998 version. How then can you became a fan of a game you can't play? I just don't understand it. c'mon man, your system is not up to specs and there's nothing anyone can do. If you can't configure the game and the use the resources available to you, UNINSTALL it and go find something to play. It can't be that hard, can it? [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  5. LOL!!! Man, you guys are scary. ....but he does have a point, especially since only the devs and BCM testers have played the full game. For all you guys know, I could've royally screwed it up prior to going Gold. /runs and ducks
  6. Yep, new name/password. But you should use the same username.

I think Vets. should look at future posts like " im lost" or " i keep flying my BC in to the space station Help!!" with renewed understanding.. That is, an understanding that helping these people make the transition from newbie to "Supreme BC commander" is going to get more people onboard with buying BCM and simialr quality games(GCO!). Agreed 100%
  8. Yeah, I've been reading a lot about that. But I thought it was only the uninstaller that croaked? So it must have other problems then? Does it not work out of the box? I was planning on getting it when I go to EB to pick up my copies of Silent Hill2, SpyHunter, Commandos2 and Sub Command.
  9. quote: SC, do you know what's going on with the production? I mean do you currently know how many games their making, and what stage they are currently at? Of course I do. I'm the one who orders the units. But that information is priviledged.
  10. Dunno. You only get promoted by gaining EPs or via ACM. Same thing with medals. If you got medals in FF, something's amiss.
  11. quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: Galcom captured the trader station in polaris-2, just the other of side of Sirius. uhm, who told you that? They bought it. Frankly, I don't have a frigging clue why Gudihl even wasted my time explaining it to him (re: Valari), yet, I don't see any word of it posted in any of the fleet forums. And people wonder why I just ignore such emails. But just wait, the first thing I'm going to do when the Beta multiplayer servers go online, is fire EACH and EVERY one of the useless fleet leaders - NO EXCEPTIONS - and hire green newbies in their place. You heard it here first. I just wasn't going to say anything - I was just going to do it.
  12. quote: If registration for this forum is denied anyone who has not purcached one of your games, how are you planning on handling future demo feedback and technical support? In my experience public forum is the very best way to do this. Gamers can help each other if they run into issues that are not listed in manuals or FAQ's, and anyone with a shred of patience can get an answer to a question for which one already exists. Which part of what I posted was unclear? Demo : They are not supported and never have been. So I don't give a toss if anyone wants support for it or not. Tech Support : This is a non-issue. Obviously if you own the game, then you have access to the forum, hence tech support. What'd I miss in your post? As Episilon 5 suggested, I will probably keep the General Discussion forum on UBB open. While the OpenTopic forum will also have such a forum, it will be restricted to registrants only. If someone don't have the game, they're not getting in. No exceptions. Why? Because that forum is specifically for the game and if you don't own it, don't belong in there. I will, on a case by case basis, make some exceptions - especially in the case of staunch BC community members such as E5.
  13. I am also considering hiring a part-time forum admin person to oversee the forum. Justin is just the web dude and is not suited to that task. So, if any of you have any experience in this sort of area, send email and an informal resume to [email protected] and I will consider it. Remember, while it is a paying job, it is a part-time one, and which is created to augment the efforts of the moderators.
  14. Some of you may have noticed that the forum is no longer viewable to the public. You can try this by logging out and trying to view without logging in. That said, in the coming weeks, I will be changing the forum software and killing UBB. From that point on, only owners of BCM, or any future games, will be allowed into the new forum. I will maintain this older forum for viewing purposes only and all the threads made read only. Unfortunately, I have to go this route because I simply do NOT want people coming to my board if they have NO business being here. So, hopefully by the time BCM actually ships, the new forum will be in place. If not, I will still set this forum to read only. Once it goes online, you will require your BCM registration number (from the game itself) to register. This will be matched against the database and only then will you be allowed to enter this forum to read or even to post. Yes, you WILL have to re-register as NONE of the older records will be carried over. NONE. So, don't even ask. This is NOT open to discussion, and the first person to post anything to this thread, contrary to what I have just stated, I don't f*cking care if you've been around since WWII, you're getting banned. Yes, its THAT simple. If you have any suggestions, (software to use etc, but am planning on use OpenTopic), thoughts etc, as long as they are in line with the plan I have just ironed out, I would be happy to hear them. 15. Read the FAQ. First of all, you erased the config.sys & autoexec.bat files? How else is the game supposed to get the extended memory it needs? Those errors lead to bad configuration or corrupted files. The only reason why it won't load the .DES files is if they don't exist, you installed to an improper folder or you don't have enough extended memory. The game is not supported. And if you continue making posts like these, you will be kicked out of the site. Weak documentation; you must be out of your frigging mind. Thats the same documentation THOUSANDS of people have come to rely on. [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  16. quote: WOW! Formidable support from you guys! I'm impressed, he never took that much beating in such a small time! hehe, I was just thinking the same thing last night. That spineless twit.
  17. vacation!!! hmmmm, what a concept!!! I bet it goes nice with eggs or is it ham? You can broil or grill it? right? I don't like fried foods.
  18. I used to drive manual (I owned a Ferrari Mondial, Toyota MR2, Rover) but for some reason, I started buying automatics. Dunno why or when I switched. It just happened I guess.
  19. No need to apologize, JJ. I apologize for yelling too - but - I AM working on the damn demo, but one post about it is enough, don't you think.
  20. Trust me guys, he is NOT worth the aggravation. He really isn't.
  21. Battlecruiser 4000AD, complete with voice recognition, retina scan technology, photorealistic graphics and 200 playable units.
  22. ouch! That hadda hurt Fendi. Such abuse to such a fine automobile should be illegal Hell, when I when go from D to R in the 500SL, I actually look down at the damn thing.....at least since I put the 325i in D when I meant R...and drove into the garage wall. Thank God I don't floor it when I pull out, or I'd have ended up in the laundry room and covered in diapers.
  23. quote: Originally posted by Commander Hamblin: You know, I was wondering, why on Earth would anyone want to join BCM as a Planetary Support pilot? Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's a rather...er, limited career. You only get four assets, the HAG, the LAG, the PAS1, and the PAS2. You can, obviously, only fly about in a planet's atmosphere. You'd be confined to that one planet. And you'd be basically doing what Elite Force pilots can already do (fly in an atmosphere), who do it with better ships (fighters that can fly in space AND in a planet's atmosphere), and who have greater freedom of movement! This one's just too easy. Its the same reason some people just the Air Force and fly. While others join The Marines - and, well, fly. Just because its there, doesn't mean you have to use it. Its just there. If there was no reason for it, it wouldn't be there. And comparing PSPs flying in a craft and EF marines flying around in a jetpack - with limited charge and altitude, is the silliest thing I've heard all week. Marines don't even have the firepower required to be effective against units and structures. PSPs and EFPs do. Even MIMs who have access to the LR12, can only do so much. And the TDU is specifically there for marines to designated targets for pilots. Its about co-operation. In multiplayer, any fleet leader who allows his EFPs to keep going back and forth between space and planetary regions, just because they can, is going to regret it. quote: Secondly, Marines. Is it possible to carry player-controlled marines aboard ships? ie, Joe Bloggs flies his Terran/Military ship to Earth, where his buddy, John Doe, is on the planet as an MI Marine (Terran/Military). Could Joe Bloggs beam John Doe to his ship, take him to another planet, then beam him down there? What about Jane Smith, an EF pilot (Terran/Military) who's crash landed on Earth, and abandoned ship...could Joe Bloggs beam Jane Smith aboard too, take her to Galcom HQ or something? You should already know the answer to that one. [ 09-29-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  24. I didn't change anything. The file was there but I suspect that it was cached by some browsers. Dunno. And my comment pointed to the downloads URL, not the file. So, I didn't have to look for anything. I knew it was there.
