I am not as well known as just about everyone else there, but I am known nonetheless. Derek also knows me as harmless and a long-time BC fan who owns every iteration of the game as well as all the add-ons.. (you know, wall map, printed manual etc) as well as a first-phase beta participant. I am neither a staunch supporter or detractor, just a fan of the game. I am not well-liked by either side... in fact,... Derek probably likes me more than the rest of those guys do! I prefer to sit out the main war and occasionally needle those who need needling. Heh. heh, equal opportunity flamer.

  4. OK, guys, you don't have to post that you've changed your password....then the thread will just get longer. heh
  5. Newsweek exclusive
  6. btw, there are THREE separate companies involved in the production, which is why all three have to send in their materials (box, printed manual+keyboard, SafeDisc CDROM) to the fullfillment center, before all materials can be put together. Thats where everything gets packaged, shrinkwrapped, put on palettes and shipped to me, EB and BMT - all on the same day. Two days later, EB and BMT should start fullfiling orders. So, this still puts all this on the week of 10/15.

Don't know what to say yet. You can't argue with an IP address, though. Still waiting for a complete investigaton. Yes, I just checked his profile in detail. He registered back in 1998. Frankly, I dunno what to think, which is why I didn't ban him outright. In fact, am going to restore his posting rights, so that at least he can defend himself...or cuss me outright (whichever comes first).
  8. Charles, Nick is an Insurgent. So I suggest that you Insurgent folks get your inquiry going on asap and report your findings. I haven't deleted his profile yet, just disabled his ability to post. Be advised
  9. I have very strong suspicious that Nick Menchise is the real name attached to Fabio aka Shirley aka Jag Uar. I'm still waiting to hear from a friend of mine who does this kind of stuff for a living, in order to get solid proof. Until then, Nick can no longer post. I came across a Fabio post today. I've been inspecting the headers of all those aliases and trying to match against the database. In fact, one of them is posting from @home.com, so I just flushed *everyone* on that ISP from the DB (except for those whom I know). Here is the post from the Usenet, complete with headers. I have colored the entries of interest. quote: Path: typhoon.jacksonville.mediaone.net!jxnws01!newsfeed2.skycache.com!newsfeed1.cider .com!Cidera!news-hog.berkeley.edu!ucberkeley!enews.sgi.com!harbinger.cc.monash.edu.au!newshub1.rd 1 .nsw.optushome.com.au!news1.rivrw1.nsw.optushome.com.au.POSTED!not-for-mail From: Jag [email protected] Newsgroups: comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.space-sim Subject: Taco Palace Update Message-ID: X-Newsreader: Forte Agent 1.8/32.548 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Lines: 19 Date: Mon, 08 Oct 2001 20:24:18 GMT NNTP-Posting-Host: 203.164.63.54 X-Complaints-To: [email protected] X-Trace: news1.rivrw1.nsw.optushome.com.au 1002572658 203.164.63.54 (Tue, 09 Oct 2001 06:24:18 EST) NNTP-Posting-Date: Tue, 09 Oct 2001 06:24:18 EST Organization: @Home Network Xref: jxnws01 comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.space-sim:79238 At the Palace Derek claimed >Supreme Cmdr >Tacops Cmdr >Member # 308 >Member Rated: > posted 10-08-2001 15:52 >-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >Just spoke to the production company. >- box is out of production >- manual is out of production >- keyboard template* is out of production >- macrovision duplication finished >- packaging should start week of 10/15 One wonders why they are waiting a week to START packaging! Probably waiting for Derek's cheque to clear! I did a search on the forum DB and the only person who uses @optushome.com.au as their ISP, is Nick. Then, I pulled up several of Nick's posts And came up with the these IP logs 203.164.2.199 203.164.3.167 And the fact that SEVERAL messages on the Usenet appear shortly after I post them and/or shortly after Menchise posts, is also highly suspicious. If anyone has any thoughts, I'd like to hear them.
  10. quote: Originally posted by krazor: Demolition: I think the deal was those who were in the original beta and paid the $15.00 would get a discount on the game upon release. Those who made it beyond the beta purge would obviously get the game for free as they have the final release candidate already I'm sure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... And as far as that goes, I'm sure Derek has maintained a list of those who paid the $15.00 and are entitled to the promised discount. Yep. The discount is $5 off the full price
  11. Yep, I sure as hell will
  12. You're not a Beta tester if (a) you weren't in the program from start to finish ( you never even got into the forum © didn't participate. As such, unfortunately, you don't get a free copy [ 10-08-2001: Message edited by: ]
  13. Some of you oldies may recall that I used Fastgraph for my 2D bitmap manipulation in BC3K and BC3K 2.0. When FG was released, I was one of the very first people to download it from the DD BBS. Man, those were the days. Anyway, they're ten years old, and I get a mention or two.
  14. Be advised. All admins and mods need to change their passwords, right about now. In fact, I'd like everyone reading this, to change their passwords ASAP.
  15. quote: Originally posted by Jigoku San: What about hazard pay? If I'm escorting some trader and a Stormcarrier attacks I'm gonna want more credits. (If I suvrive that is.) LOL!!! Ask for hazard pay...or get hazard insurance. What? your corp doesn't offer benefits? Oh well, yer dead, mate.
  16. Thread hijaak in process! hehe, some of you are in for a shock. Just wait... Oh btw, on the fleet mp servers, I'm going to enable the Station Commander career (disabled in sp) so that the fleet leader of a trader corp, can have access to that station as if it were as ship. It works the same as if you were on a carrier, except that you have access to the pricing and other info of your station's items. In fact, because the interface is similar, the only difference between a ship and station HUD, is the modes available for NID/TAC/CVD...of course, you can't fly the station, so your AE would have to do that from one of the fighters or shuttles. The point is that a trading corp can then have full control of their station's items and pricing (which they can change at will and override the game's values). So e.g. if an NPC docks and restocks the station, you can go in and mess with the prices. If a player docks, you can do the same thing etc. This will be MINIMAL functionality, so don't get your hopes up - it will be full blown in GCO. So, those of you buying and selling on a server, all I want to know is who has the cheapest OTS missiles for sale (have you seen the price of those things!!?!?)
  17. You heard the man, lets go hijaak this thread
  18. *cough* erm, what happens if I hire someone from Goons For Hire Inc, to take out someone and they fail? Do I get my money back? What? I'm just wondering!
  19. This could be cool....
  20. SIX pages?!? You guys must be pretty darn serious.
  21. Yeah, something fishy is going on around here.
  22. quote: Originally posted by Josh: It shares the system ram though, so technically it has 190 mb of available ram to occupy... No it doesn't And no, the game is not supported on your system. You need a video card with dedicated 16MB of RAM.
  23. quote: Originally posted by cougarxg1: Well if that aint a punch in the ol pickle.... So anyone have 3ds max that can make model conversions for me? You will be rewarded with beta rights and a nice section in the credits PS-I have the models but they are in 3ds format. I can put them in .dxf format if it makes things any easier... LOL!! The game isn't even out yet and he's already modding it. heh
  24. quote: Originally posted by Soback: SC, are you goint to have a character in GCO? If you will then will you start out with the same stats as anyone else or bump yourself up? On another note, I so want to be a trader in GCO and own my own station or two. I am the only Galaxian character in the game world. And since they are just pure energy, I will be invisible most the time. And when playing that character, I don't need a ship either. If you ever see me in my assumed form, you're already dead.
