I liked it, though I didn't like how The Scorpion king (The Rock) was depicted in the end scenes. I wish they hadn't used CGI for that.

If you liked The Usual Suspects, you'll love this one. Its on limited release, so you'd have to search around to find out where its playing. Whatever you do, don't miss the beginning, don't go to a bathroom break and don't take your eyes off the screen. I'm not kidding. 2 thumbs up on this one. It is probably running because you deleted the bcmconfig.ini file (the one you tinkered with in CONFIG) and let the game create a new one. CTRL+V gives you the frame rate. It is documented in the keyboard.doc file.

The part that deals with nVidia boards

uhm, anyone who has a knowledge of 3D art, can create their own skins. Its no brainer. Am just not going to release a program that does it. The only problem is that if you change the textures on one ship, it will be the same for all ships. hehe. Maybe I will put in a feature that supports custom skins if they exist, this way, the ship you are playing with can use your own custom skins, rather then using the defaults. It would be a simple matter of using Photoshop and modifying the textures (modelstextures) of your favorite craft and then putting it in a different folder (e.g modelscustom). So, when you create a new game and select an asset, you can then also select a list of custom skins, if any. So, if you put your logo on the side of the bcruzmk3 (bcmk3-1.bmp/bcmk3-2.bmp/bcmk3-3.bmp), then those custom skins will be used for your ship only. I think its a good idea, but I won't do this until the game has shipped, so that I can make it a part of GBS-II, which will have better docs and support. I have other goodies in mind, more info once the game ships.

Read the FAQ in the Video Issues section.

uhm, please explain this, cuz am curious. The game does not rely on the desktop resolution in order to run. btw, these are the two settings I was talking about: ScreenBitDepth=1 TextureBitDepth=0

It is also in the upcoming July issue. And that issue features the new box art. You can see it here PC Gamer July ad The game is scheduled to hit stores shelves by mid June. All things being equal. [ 05-05-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Well put.

quote: Hey big guy. I meant the screen resolution of Win2k not the game itself. I never even looked at these files much less attempted to modify any of them until after I pasted them here. Hey small guy. I WAS talking about the demo configurations, NOT the res of your desktop. I got the info from the bcmconfig.ini file. doh! If you did NOT mess with the CONFIG settings, your INI file would contain the defaults. It doesn't. Try deleting it and starting the demo - a new one will be created.

The /d param is for debugging. Thats what produces the text. Its a demo. Live with it. And no, you cannot run the demo without it.

quote: Is there something I'm missing Yes. Read the manual. The NID and TACSCAN both handle different targets. If the NID is the current system in scope, those are the only targets that you will be able to select. The current in scope system is the one that is highlighted.

Which f*cking idiot registered twice and using the same profile?!? If I go in that database and I find that Mike Starwind and Alec Nova are the same person, two things will happen: Both profiles will be deleted in the database. Both profiles will be deleted and possibly banned indefinitely from posting on the site. I am NOT going to put up with this crap! update: I went. I saw. I deleted both of them. Problem solved. quote: Contents of BCMConfig.ini. At the time of the run my desktop resolution was 1024x768, 32bit color. I hope this helps: It doesn't. If it works in WIN98 and not in WIN2K, then its a driver problem. btw, why are you running at 32-bit screen depth and 16-bit texture depth. Weren't you advised not to screw around in CONFIG settings unless you knew WHAT you were doing?

Yep.

Add the /d5 parameter to the game shortcut. When it exits, post the contents of the bcmdebug.log and bcgfxdebug.log files here. Be sure to wrap them around UBB code tags for reading clarity. Also post the contents of the bcmconfig.ini file as well as your desktop resolution and bit depth (16 or 32 bit)

quote: Until NPC's can buy They do buy/sell, each time they dock at a station. The only limitation is that they don't request services, items etc. Thats what GCO is for. Also, I have not exposed their derived cargo yet so you can't see anything in the CVD cargo mode unless the scripted ones. I have not looked into exposing their derived cargo because it is blatant cheating to be able to scan a ship's cargo, without any limitations. Until I figure what limitations to impose, am not enabling it. NO suggestions please!!! Don't turn this into another wanton wishlist thread, because I'll just delete it. quote: fleets will likely be the primary source of income for MERCS. I'm talking game here. One of the reasons to hire mercs and the like, would be for cordinated strikes, escort missions etc, especially since the MP servers will have limited assets available when people log on. And since you cannot change your asset (will be able to in GCO), say you are a carrier cmdr, you'd hire a merc with a fast cruiser to run point for you, or you could hire a trader with a large transport, to haul your spares for you, when going on deep space excursions. You won't have any fleet C&C control in MP so you have to rely on other players.

Thanks for the headsup. The demo is also in PC Gamer (UK) and that one has an exclusive 3rd mission not available in the version in PC Zone or the downloadable versions.

I have a regular Radeon DDR, and it works fine. Make sure you have the latest drivers and DX8 installed. What problem are you having?

quote: So basically what you're saying is that in order for an Indie to get work in BC:M, he has to grovel to the fleets is that it? And organized band of indies can easily create corporations (traders, diplomats etc), consortiums etc. The game is open ended enough for a group of talented, dedicated and organized gamers to do all those things....and more. Even fleets need help at some point, since they most likely can't venture into areas where mercs, for example, can. ....and yes, if you trash every fleet, you're not bloody likely to get a job. You'll just end up being target practice.

You need to read the FAQ...which I'm most certain you didn't do....and am guessing you have a geForce video card. And you do not need a serial number. Also, please STOP creating new threads. I deleted the first one because there are already several threads in this forum which deal with the demo. Read them!

I agree with Emmet, all the three BC types are no match. BUT, throw a Stormcarrier into the fray, well then.

quote: There we are folks. The only question that arises is where to congregate. I thought I read that it's possible to set up shop on a moon or an asteroid. If that's so then we'll need to scout out the known universe for a suitable spot that provides some cover. Moons of Jupiter? Asteroid fields? Underwater city? Lots of possiblities. With a universe as huge as the one in BCM, you can setup shop anywhere. Its a simple as giving out the co-ordinates of the meeting place and have everyone show up. Everyone can then show up, park their vehicles/crafts and walk over to the area (e.g. a nice sandy beach on a deserted island) and chat via the mp chat system. It'll be nice and quiet.....until someone shows up in orbit and finds a bunch of TTDs huddled in a remote section of a planet.
