Maybe its an older residual portrait left inside that should have been replaced by a new male and female portrait? If you actually read the game's appendix, you would notice that one of those images is the ship's computer. quote: 2. Don't know what I could have done wrong patching the game. Press that lil button that says "Check for updates" and let the computer do the work. I'm not THAT computer illiterate! BTW it shows the correct version in Multiplayer. The version number did not change in the single player build because there were no changes in it. Thats what the VCF is for. Read it. quote: 3. Ok, updated video driver to todays current version. Tried different ingame settings. No change. Don't tell me my desktop color depth or similar settings would have an effect on this. Other than that the options were set to application preference or what its called. You're on your own. Nothing to do with the game. quote: 4. If it's what you want, ok. Still, I would suggest slowing it down, cuz it just looks weird. Well its not that important, I'll just turn it off. If my previous post about this wasn't clear, thats probably because I can't write German. READ what I wrote again. SLOWLY. quote: 5. I read the FAQ that came with the game. If there are others, sorry didn't see em. But yes I think it has something to do with sound. Turned off sound fx and music and it didn't crash in combat. You're on your own. Nothing to do with the game.

(1) Thats because of how the image is being loaded. Its non destructive, so get used to it. (2) If you didn't patch the game properly, thats the result. The current D2D version is 1.00.01 and thats what should be displayed. (3) Nothing to do with the game. Check your video card drivers and settings. (4) Works as designed. If you don't like it, turn it off. (5) Nothing to do with the game. Check your machine config; especially your sound card. This is all covered in the FAQ. Read it.

I have already deleted two posts from this thread. When in doubt about what this thread is for, don't post in it.

btw, if you see an IA0939 scenario, just ignore it. It is a test scenario which I inadvertently left in the .DATASCENARIOS.ZIP file. If it bothers you, just delete IA0939*.* (3 files) from that zip archive and it will no longer show up in MISCON. And for those of you who don't pay attention to the game's VCF, the version number for the single player game is 1.00.00 because only the multiplayer build has changed in this version. Wiki: Features new to Windows Vista

Did it occur to you that gamers don't have to buy these cards? And whether they do or don't, how does that kill PC gaming? Back when Adlib was the only sound add-in card - which carried a surcharge, how did that kill PC gaming? Back when 3DFX was the only graphics card add-in worth having and which carried a surcharge, how did that kill PC gaming? Back when internal modems replaced external modems - both of which carried a surcharge - how did that kill PC gaming when mp became the norm? Stop being an alarmist and just employ common sense. Nobody asked to you buy any add-on card. And I can't think of any reason why any game would exclusively require an add-in physics, NIC or AI add-in card. We're not talking sound and video here, which are the primary components of any hardcore gaming rig.

Windows Vista product editions revealed I guess the confusion that was winXP Home and Pro was not enough. ExtremeTech also has a look at Windows gaming using Vista, from the recent Meltdown 2005 gig. ZDNET: Updside: In Windows Vista, Microsoft borrows a lot of clever ideas from its competitors.

I doubt that it has anything to do with your sound card. But since the saved game works on other people's computers, then its definitely not the game and is probably something else. What is curious is at what point does it fail? Did you try running it in a Window to see the error message? Are you patched correctly? Because if you are not and the game is attempting to load an asset which does not exist, is a corrupted file etc, that could also happen. Have you tried copying the saved game to a temp folder and installing+patching from scratch, then copying the saved game back and running it? -
Even though UCSE is based on UCAWA, it has a bunch of technology advancements (e.g. the terrain engine is heavily revamped) which set it apart from UCAWA. So, this thread is primarily about UCSE itself and not about UCAWA. There is already a thread like this for UCAWA.

KillerNic - Network add-in card
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
LMAO!!! Thats what I said -
Here we go again. First it was a Physics card, now its an NIC. I wonder where they think people are going to find a spare PCI slot in their rig to plug this in.

Looking good!! Can't wait for this one. Its been awhile since we had a good air combat movie.

It has come to my attention that for some reason, the in game server browser is not always listing all the mp servers. This browser uses the ASE sdk and their master servers for reporting. So, there is nothing that we can do about it. However, just because the in game server browser does not list a server, does not mean that the server is not online. For this reason, you can direct connect to the server you want. Refer to the first post in this thread for more info on this. Our own GameCQ server which has a better server reporting, will be back online shortly. You can then use the GameCQ client to browse for and connect to mp servers.
