I couldn't agree more

Guinea pigs wanted. Apply here please. I've read a lot about this movie being a really classic horror fest. Whats causing me concern is that I've also read that its gory. So, Scriv, you're up. On the gore meter, let me know where is scales from 1 to 10. I can go as far as a 5 without PTSD kicking in an ruining my day. [ 09-11-2006, 09:29 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Those gunship turrets don't lead targets. They're not designed to. -
No. Its the only reliable copy protection program there is.

Universal Combat SE Demo Released!

Actually you can stop it from getting killed. When you launch, don't spend time admiring the scenery. Just jump. And when you reach the jump gate, don't rely on the A/P to do the jump. It takes too long. Do it manually by pressing and holding the thrust button. You'll go fast if you have full power in Logistix. -
uhm, wow?

Universal Combat SE is now ready for sale. FULL STAND ALONE VERSION INFO The price is $39.95 INSTALLATION This version is a stand-alone program and does not require the presence of UCAWA to install. It will co-exist alongside your previous install of UCAWA. Install as normal. ADD-ON FOR UCAWA VERSION This is only available for the Direct2Drive version of UCAWA as only IGN have the exclusive rights to sell it. The price is $19.95 INSTALLATION This add-on requires the current v1.00.16 build of the Direct2Drive UCAWA version to be installed first. To check if you have the latest version, run the program Updater or start the game and look at the version number of the lower right corner of the main menu. WARNING: THIS VERSION WILL COMPLETELY REMOVE YOUR STAND-ALONE UCAWA VERSION AND REPLACE IT WITH UCSE. THERE IS NO FEASIBLE - OR SUPPORTED - WAY TO RUN UCAWA AND THE UCSE ADDON ON THE SAME MACHINE. When prompted by the installer for the install folder, make sure to install to the existing UCAWA folder. The setup program will pick the default location which is "C:Program Files3000ADUniversal Combat A World Apart" If you do have to change the install location because you didn't install UCAWA to the default folder when you originally installed it, be sure to verify the add-on installation path or you will end up installing it into a sub folder in the existing UCAWA install folder. If that happens, well, the program will fail to run and you will have to start from scratch by un-installing both programs, killing the folders and re-installing both of them again. MULTIPLAYER SERVERS Our three official multiplayer servers will be switched to running only UCSE on Monday August 14th. As of this writing, only one UCSE mp server is running. The GameCQ server lobby client has also been updated to support UCSE. [ 08-08-2006, 07:19 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Download and run BOTH Spybot Search & Destroy and Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal to get rid of the spyware. I used to use Norton Systemworks until I got fedup with the bloat, incompatiblities etc. I then switched to using Kaspersky Internet Security 6 and its all good. Norton was a b*tch to remove. Even the uninstaller and all the clean tools left stuff of it behind. I had to do some serious forensics to rid myself of that particular crapware - which, up until two months ago, I had been using for many years.

OK, that only works now for you folks because Updater does not need to update itself, since the version you manually downloaded is the same as the version on the server. I discovered that this problem is with it self updating from the 03-20-06 version of Updater to the latest 07-14-06 version. When I ran my tests, I used an older 08-18-05 version which worked just fine. But when I located and used the 03-20-06 version, I had the same problem as you folks. Sorry for doubting you, guys (Ben, Case et al). Its been a long week; especially with the UCSE release and all. I have contacted the author. He's pretty good about fixing bugs, so this should be easy. In the meantime, anyone having problems with Updater self updating, should just download the latest version and overwrite their existing version before continuing. If you're NOT having this problem (because you are using an older version of Updater), you don't need to do anything because in that case the self update process works just fine. And if you registered UCAWA, what are you doing reading the BCM manual when in fact UCAWA comes with the full PDF manual? Or are you just making stuff up as you go along?

After laughing myself stupid at the trailer recently, I was still laughing as I read this review. I can't wait. [ 09-11-2006, 09:26 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

UPDATE: To prevent Updater from attempting to download and update itself, I have uploaded the latest version. Just unzip and overwrite your older version. Now let me know if the Updater works or not. If you've already updated by downloading from a mirror, edit settings.ini and change the version to 1.00.15 first before running Updater again.
-
OK, enough with the Updater posts. It works just fine. If you can't use it, find a download mirror already. [ 08-02-2006, 02:38 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Ben, it works fine. So the problem has to be on your end. NOTHING in the Updater has changed. If you can't get it work, well, download the patch from one of the mirrors which have been updated. I even copied an older version of Updater to my runtime folder and ran it. It connected to the server and downloaded the patch. Then it downloaded an updated version of itself. Then the patch was applied.

Multiplayer Servers Status
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Multiplayer Discussions
BE ADVISED UCSE will be available for sale today. As a result, the three official servers will be switched to UCSE servers on Saturday 5th @ 9am. -
If you downloaded it after my post above, then its the new version. IGN sent me email shortly after my post to let me know that they have refreshed their download version as well.
-
Is there anyone left in Hollwood who doesn't have a rap sheet?
-
The D2D version is now up on the updater server. I suspect that IGN will link the new version on their UCAWA downloads page later this afternoon.
-
Sounds to me like a darker Joker. But seriously. Heath Ledger? I'm pissed already and I actually quite like him.
-
Now why would I want to do that? If you want better sound, buy a better product: UCAWA or UCSE.
-
Man, you guys are killing me. If you have an older version of the updater.exe file, it will try to update itself AFTER it applies the patch. Thats the error message you are getting because apparently it can't find the updated version of updater.exe on the server. I'm going to look into that now. The patch was already applied but it rolls back the entire op. UPDATE: Try it now. [ 08-01-2006, 05:15 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Well, I just changed it to 1.00.15 and it still works. What exactly is the problem? None of these reports make any sense to me. Also, what is the date/time stamp of the updater.exe file?
-
Works just fine here. I just tried it on four machines. If it downloads the file but can't copy it from the temp folder to the game folder, then its a problem on your end. Also, your SETTINGS.INI file should look like this code: [uPDATER] runmode=full selfupdate=http://downloads.3000ad.com/selfupdate.xml [uPDATEINFO] URL=http://downloads.3000ad.com/updateinfo.xml servertimeout=2000 [APPLICATION] Name=UNIVERSAL COMBAT A WORLD APART Location=%updater% version=1.00.16

Patches for russian version.
Supreme Cmdr replied to Nika Bosmit's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
The font names are in UCCONFIG.INI and we didn't change them since the game was released.
