  1. Wired has an article on this. There is also a link to a list of States which have enacted a law allowing residents to lock their credit file. I plan on doing this once Florida's takes effect on July 1st. Identity theft is the fastest growing illegal activity in the US. Having fallen prey to this myself, let me tell you, it is a mess and you wouldn't believe the hoops you have to go through to get things cleared up.
  2. Developers ditching PS3 in favor of Wii, LucasArts jumps onboard True or not, this PS3 fiasco is going to hurt Sony very - very - badly in the long run.

If you really want to get in dutch, dig a bomb crater in the middle of the front yard, then feign ignorance as to it's prescence and how it got there. Get the homecoming on tape. It might be good enough for AFV.
  4. Since I moved a few months back, I hadn't hooked up half my stuff and the majority of my family room electronics are still in boxes. Last eve, I decided to connect the ol' plasma to just the DVD so that I could watch something. Since all my DVDs were also boxed, I just grabbed the first on that came out of the box. It was this movie. I decided to watch it. It is still one of the most hilarious+serious movie you'll watch. Seriously, if you haven't seen it, rent it. If you've seen it, see it again. Totally uproarious. Jeff Bridges is just amazing in this movie. Next up, Starman. If I can find it that is.

Just you putting the thought of them ruining one of my fav characters, makes me all murderous and stuff. quote: Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: SC , mine were Thor, GR, the FF, Iron Man and Spidey. BTW I have heard rumors of a Silver Surfer appearance in FF2! Yeah! I liked Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther and Green Latern too. For some reason, I never did like Spidey that much. I liked the Avengers, JLA and FF a bit as well. Superman and Batman were also in there somewhere, though I think I kinda outgrew them both before I had hair on my nipples. Man, I remember when comics were really cheap. Then the prices went up! I'd roll into the shop and leave with, like, a bunch of comics. It'd take me a few days to go through a week's worth of comics and then Saturday would roll around and it was back to the store for the next week's supply. Ah, good times. Back in those days, Dr. Doom and Galactus were major trouble makers. Its like every other period, they would appear in another hero's storyline.
  6. OK great. Thanks Ben. You're always on the ball with stuff like this. Your help over the years is greatly appreciated.
  7. I'll run some more stringent tests this weekend to see what I can come up with. Given that this [stand-alone] career is the least used and is largely useless, its not top priority. So don't expect a fix anytime soon. You folks having this problem may want to try this with a normal CMDR career. SNG with CMDR career Transfer AE to SC1 Launch SC1. Turn A/P on and set to halt Exit SC1 in fp mode. This switches your AE from CMDR to SFM. Destroy SC1 using your Sabre weaponry See if the game also crashes in that instance. It probably won't, since the handling is different; but you never know.
  8. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/06/12/you...ng_rig_for_720/ I noticed this on p3. A look at the water cooling block, beneath which the Pentium D 805 is housed. To the immediate right, you'll see a passively-cooled ATI 1600 graphics card, which is adequate for non-gamers. ...wtf is he talking about? An X1600 card is nothing to turn your nose up at.
  9. It makes a lot of sense if they were to in fact do that. Intel got too big for its breeches, over extended themselves and caused all manner of rubbish in the chain. The nVidia purchase of ULi had nothing to do with this actually. They just wanted to prevent ATI from having a viable Crossfire bridge. Bastards.
  10. quote: Originally posted by Darkling: Damn, and I just had to reactivate my game from switching Hard Drives and upgrading the Memory. A motherboard switch is definitely going to trigger another Activation, and the thing said I had Zero reactivations left. So? Just follow the instructions for requesting a new cd-key.
  11. Yep. My fav [lone ranger] heroes were Ghost Rider, Submariner, Silver Surfer and Cpt. America. Ah yes, those were the days.
  12. Ah yes, ye olde price wars July would be a good time to buy that X2 4800+ cpu you've been eyeing since last year.
  13. I'm just speechless. It is amazing that Pixar continues to raise the bar (for themselves) with each new release. This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece. I find myself believing that Pixar must have access to some alien animation technologies. It is a bit long, at almost 2hrs, but its worth every minute. Just.go.see.it. 10/10
  14. The critics haven't been good to this movie, but I kinda liked it. The original was creepier because of the time when it was released. However, in this day and age of rubbish horror movies which think that the more gore, the better, I liked it. There is one gruesome death though; so be forewarned. 8/10
  15. I missed a word in the statement above. I meant to say "worthy" games. Yes, I am fully aware of those two games and mods based on HL2 engine. The point I was making is that most engines are not as widely used as the most popular. Think how long HL2 has been out. AFAIK, no new games based on that engine are announced nor in the pipeline.
  16. Everyone get together and say goodbye to @1
  17. The pricing would be thousands, not millions. To charge millions, it would have to be as popular as the DOOM3, HL2, Unreal3 engines etc. Also, remember that they were licensing the first engine too. Nobody licensed it. Hence no third party games based on it. I suspect that this new engine will have the same fate. Publishers don't like change and licensing a new engine means putting the dev team on a learning curve, which in turn increases development time. Most dev studios are familiar with the iD and Epic game engines. So thats what gets licensed. Even the HL2 engine doesn't - yet - have any games released based on it. Engine licensing isn't what it used to be.
  18. Well, this head of an NPC from their latest engine, looks darn impressive don't you think?
  19. LOL!! Probably a dual core machine with 2GB and a 512MB PCIe card. A VERY fast card. I remember well how Far Cry made gamers weep when they tried to play it.

  21. Lemme see....because as a dev I've been in on it since the first Alpha version and I'm - thus far - not impressed?
  22. That has been the case for a while now. Anyway, the Beta 2 customer preview is out for those brave enough to try it and smart enough to install it in a multi-book environment. Vista - to me - is rubbish. It'll never get off the ground and winXP will remain the de facto OS for gaming.
