  1. So much for my hope that BCM just thought I was extra special. Idaho
  2. Gallion, Thanks. Idaho
  3. Heheh, glad they paroled you. Thanks for putting it up. I'm working on a Megaron and a BCMK2 right now. Idaho
  4. I like the ones with the flames on the wings. Perhaps I'll ask for those soon when I go back to 'carrier duty'. Just can't get enough of 'zooming around the galaxy', as opposed to crawling. Idaho
  5. Oh yeah, Gordon's right. Happened to me, got promoted to SC at 200,000, I forgot to mention it. Idaho
  6. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Damn, in XP1, I have got to make it harder to achieve SC rank. It seems GALCOM is giving away ranks to every two bit yahoo cmdr these days. Two bit commander? Wow, I didn't know you thought THAT highly of me. And you don't have to make it harder on my account. You've made it plenty hard, I'm just persistant, and have a LOT of free time to play. Was looking at the screenshots for XP1, and gotta admit, it set me to drooling. Idaho
  7. My update: Fresh character started with 1.0.0.6 patch, (not 1.0.0.5 compliant). Date: 4/5/3010 03:31hrs Rank: Supreme Commander Finances: 976,366,697 Inventory Value: 135,851,475 Asset: Sunflash Scenario: Roam EP: 340,908 I've been trading up a storm, and making bombing runs in between. (Luna is Insurgent free!). It's a lot more work now, but it's also a lot more fun! I have the four artifacts I know (or hope) work on my ship, (JAC, ORB, ENM, and PAD). My crew are still pretty stupid. Especially Resnig, who has yet to break 20 for AI. I've gotten no medals. I'm about to set out after a starstation. I have to try to take one out in a cruiser, since I heard it's impossible. I love doing the impossible. 8. Hi, I just finished a new skin, it's a high contrast military Sunflash. It's pretty darn sharp I think. There should be a screenshot posted shortly, if anyone wants this skin, let me know, I'll send it. I'm making some more like this one, as well. Will get screenshots as I can. Idaho
  9. Gallion, Heheh, oh yeah. That's the ticket! I shall seek. I shall find. I shall conquer! (Unless I die, then I'll restore, and repeat as needed).
  10. If not a year, heheh. Idaho
  11. Someone should print that diatribe in their game magazine, SC. Makes a fine read, and it's true. Idaho
  12. You made my day SC. Back to my game! Idaho
  13. Fractux, Just a quick question: Do you perchance have Antialiasing enabled? If so, may be for nothing, but try disabling it and running the game. I just recall having run across a mention in another game about models getting disjointed on occasion if AA is enabled, something about memory fragmentation onboard the vid card in certain situations. Again, might be no help, but on the offchance, you never know. Idaho
  14. Heh, that happened to me once, and for the life of me, I couldn't recall having taken any cargo aboard recently. In the end, I figured it was probably Resnig, he probably has a stash of that illegal tobacco...(which would explain a LOT of things). CMDR Idaho: "Resnig, you're demoted to Asst. Janitor." Resnig: "Huh? Why, sir?" CMDR Idaho: "You're supposed to share that stuff." Idaho [ 03-02-2002, 11:30: Message edited by: Duncan Idaho ]
  15. All have made good points, but I think Jeff said it best in the end, (and this isn't surprising, he actually writes these reviews for a living heheh). For the record, I do approve of mags reviewing pre-patched versions. Mainly because Jeff is correct, the average user would likely just frown at you all unknowingly when asked 'Well, did you download the latest patch?'. Still, in a perfect world, all developers would stand by their products as SC has. Then we'd worry less about their products, (and mention of 'support' in reviews), when we bought them!! Idaho
  16. quote:Originally posted by Duncan Idaho: IOW you are saying that the mouse pointer focus is not alligned with the center of the Accept button when you select it? If the mouse pointer focus is moved to below the center of the Accept button, but just above the bottom edge of the Accept button, then select the Accept button it will work ... correct? TTFN Gallion, That's pretty close. If you hit the button too high (when it's not 'lit'), or too low, you'll somehow bring the save slot that's behind the Accept button in front of the dialog box, and then you can go no further. It seems to me the button is 'centered' okay, it's just got some space above and below the word Accept that you can press without the button actually becoming highlighted, which actually hits the save slot behind it, PROVIDED there's a saved game in the slot. Again, being sure the Accept button is highlighted when you press keeps this from happening. Hope the info is helpful! (Feels good to have perhaps delivered useful info!). Idaho
  17. Here's the answer to Scooby's problem a few messages above: I can reproduce the problem where the 'save slot' somehow jumps out in front of the 'Accept' button when trying to restore a game. And I figured it out after it happened to me. Here's how it happens: If you aren't careful when you try to press accept, (i.e. let the mouse drift, or don't hit it dead on), the button will 'unhighlight', if you press it then, somehow the save slot, minus it's text, will jump in front of the Accept button, and then your stuck and can't do anything. Solution: Be sure the Accept button is HIGHLIGHTED when you press it, that solves it. IOW you are saying that the mouse pointer focus is not alligned with the center of the Accept button when you select it? If the mouse pointer focus is moved to below the center of the Accept button, but just above the bottom edge of the Accept button, then select the Accept button it will work ... correct? 18. We had 99 marines serving onboard the carrier I served on in the US Navy, (USS John F. Kennedy). Among other things, they ran the ship's brig. I doubt I could list all the things we used to call them. And if I did, this post would surely be deleted. Heheh. Idaho
  19. I'd have to agree with the SC, and Jeff on this one. Seems to me that support should be a given with such a product. Now, if the company is noted for very poor support, that might be worth a mention. Else, it's just a waste of space that could be used to tout features of the game, or somesuch. Idaho
  20. Cool. Do you play BCM at all for fun? Or it it a bit too close to you for that? (My guess would be the latter I suppose). Idaho
  21. All this begs one question: Will you try Freelancer, SC? (Do you play games, or just write them?) I'll probably try it, after I hear enough from others to see if it's worth it. (if and when it's released at any rate). I find it highly dubious that it could compare to BCM for long term playability though. In fact, BCM may make other space sims just seem too hollow for me. I guess time will tell there. Idaho
  22. Heheh, I had to avoid listing bands myself for just that reason. Once I start, I don't stop. Idaho
  23. Hahah, I know what you mean there, every time we figure out a new way to make our living, the whole universe changes on us. But change is a good thing, too. Keeps you on your toes. Bummer that Starstations may not be killable by cruisers though, since I usually fly those lately. I'm still gonna try! Might just have to jump to a waypoint somewhat away from the base, and jink my way in. Or something. I watched an NPC enemy Violon weaving all around Gazer1 at Pluto, and it wasn't cloaked, Gazer1 was firing like mad to kill the thing, and it was avoiding the hits okay. (Heck, I had to kill it, in fact). I'd like to think I can jink at least as well as the AI. Heheheh. Idaho
  24. Hi, Played for over 8 hours tonight, many intruders, no repeats of the CTD. My guess, just a fluke. I did spot something else. It may be nothing, but starting several new games and checking gave the same results: The Grazer ODS in Pluto's orbit seems broken. It hits nothing. I'm not sure it's even firing, though in 20 minutes of observation between several different new games, it never hit fighters jumping in, or a Warmonger. I only mention it because it pretty much used to protect itself, now I must protect it. (Which actually is fine with me, it's so close to Gazer1 now heheh). I think I'm up for a few hours more play. See you. Idaho
  25. Hahah, that's an interesting strategy. Call it 'The Vulture Strategy'. I'm more a 'first hand' person. I like to protect any non-enemy ships. And my reward? Well, most enemies I destroy leave me a well earned cargo pod. Not to mention, if I'm careful with the trigger...(and I'm not often), I can also tow it's carcass in for money and exp. I never watch ships fight if I can help it, mainly because it's a big experience point killer if one of the ships you're watching goes SOS before it dies. I've lost 8000 points in one sector to fighters raiding neutral freighters. Buggers kept one half jump ahead of me for quite some time before I finally got them and made them pay the ultimate price. With interest. It's even worse if of of your allies die, you'll lose even more experience. Keep cool out there. But not TOO cool. Idaho
