  1. quote:COLUMBUS, Ga. - A cache of cash found in the Columbus landfill was the result of a bank error, police said. The money ÔÇö more than $46,000 ÔÇö was found on July 23 by a backhoe operator who was digging through mounds of garbage at the Pine Grove Landfill. That was about the same amount of money a Columbus bank official told the local FBI (news - web sites) office in July 2002 the bank had misplaced. Bank officials alerted police about the possibility the money belonged to the bank after the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported the backhoe operator's find. Police proved the money belonged to the bank because remnants of bank wrappers were mixed in with the misplaced cash. The money was returned to the bank Friday. Officials asked police not to reveal the bank's name. Little bitty article as well. Kinda funny.
  2. Sigh. Ok so instead of taxing you at the front side (your paycheck) they tax you at the back side (POS [point of sale hehe not what we are used to pos meaning]). quote:Think about it, I'm trying quote:most poeple spend all the money they have and if they had an extra $400.00 a month, they would probably buy a new car, house, boat, whatever. The fatal flaw in that argument is that you are discounting the national tax that would suddenly be added to those items you just mentioned. Depends on how much they want. Without a starting a huge argument suffice it to say if I pay less taxes then it is great. If I wind up paying more then not so good.
  3. I figured out what's been bothering me about your sig Alric. First off, you managed to make your system profile info double spaced below your sig. Just looks weird to me. Secondly, you have all plain text where as a lot of us have dressed up our sigs with links, italics, and bold. That must be it. You don't have to do anything. I'll just have to get used to it.
  4. I must have creeping sig syndrome. Yup it's fine. You're fine Alric. I hope you have been enjoying yourself on the public servers instead of waiting on me. After today however they will all go fleet server so we will have to see what the password changes to. Maybe server 2 will stay the same and 3 and 4 will get new ones. Dunno. Will just have to see. We will inform you via private message.
  5. Yahoo news link quote: NICEVILLE, Fla. (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) said on Tuesday that abolishing the U.S. income tax system and replacing it with a national sales tax was an idea worth considering. "It's an interesting idea," Bush told an "Ask President Bush" campaign forum here. "You know, I'm not exactly sure how big the national sales tax is going to have to be, but it's the kind of interesting idea that we ought to explore seriously." Republican economists who speak regularly to the White House have said that the Bush campaign has been mulling the idea of an overhaul of the tax code as part of an agenda for a second term should Bush win reelection. Some lawmakers have floated ideas of simplifying the tax code by putting in place a "flat" income tax rate or a national sales tax. But those ideas have so far not gained much traction in Congress. Opponents say such a system would not be in the best interests of the poor and the middle class who would pay the same tax rate as the wealthy even though they have less disposable income. It's short so I copied the whole thing. Be sure to click on the message board. Interesting thoughts all around.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Kenworthy: Personaly I'd press the big red button labled "Do not push" and reload a save game because from the looks of it you're going to be repairing for about a day atleast. Fixing things is the very, very, very most fun in this game to me. Dunno why it just is. Your mileage may very.
  7. Ok, we gotta work on that sig just a tad but looking good! Sho? To change your publicly displayed name simply scroll to the top of this page and click "my profile". Then click edit profile and I think the first box allows you to change your displayed name. Just be sure to write down wookie29997 and the password JUST in case your computer chokes. Alric Rahl is way more cool than wookie in my opinion.
  8. Are you the guy I approved a couple hours ago? We'll get ya in and get ya straight. Just work with us. Because if you are the guy I just approved you can change your displayed forum name to match your fleet name.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Remo Williams: The first fleet MP matches in the history of the BC series have been scheduled for Sunday the 22nd starting at 22:00 GMT. We will face each other with three teams of three hopefully if enough fleet members are available. This should be very fun commanders lets get the show on the road and see who can claim the bragging rights! LOL! So let's muster!
  10. Be sure to use the same name so we know who you are!
  11. If they were on the same stretch of river and docked at the same pier at night and slept on the same base I would agree. If they weren't even close I would have to say it very detrimental to their credibility. Has that info come out yet?
  12. Hehe, I have read that Viagra is now becoming a casual drug.
  13. We have a fleet scenario tested and deemed fun by all who participated. We are ready to meet Galcom head on. Time and date to be announced.
  14. I personally had a blast.
  15. quote:Actually, the federal army Appropriations can only exist for 2 years, according to the constitution. That is why they rebudget and reappropriate for the Army and military in general every 2 years. Interesting piece of information. Also just goes to show "they" can get around almost any rule they want. quote:And as far as the noncombat unit is concerned, Bush was in a national guard wing that flew sorties out of Houston to protect US airspace. He could have very easily have seen combat, be it Cuba, or any other foreign aircraft. And I could see a polar bear in my front yard tomorrow. Possible but highly unlikely. Then there is the fact that it didn't actually happen so we are right back full circle to my layman's (I incorrectly pluralized myself above) perception that serving is better than a cushy guard unit. Personally I think they both had political aspirations since high school and both did the bare minimum so they could have it as a brownie point on their resume`. quote:War hero, HAHI'm certainly not claiming that. Questionable service in the army vs questionable service in the guard. I think this one is a wash.
  16. Ouch. You edited by a fairly hefty amount. I can still respond to a few points. But that's for tomorrow. It's almost 3:00 here.
  17. quote:The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. Neither the states nor the people control the army. Checkmate. Edit: Might as well make a sad attempt at steering this thread on topic. As a total laymen concerning military matters and procedures I feel that someone that actually served (for however long) is better than someone that got into a non combat unit. If you really want me to be cruel people are crawling out of the woodwork to denounce Kerry. No one can remember Bush AT ALL.
  18. I have updated my sig with the link. Too much info?
  19. I didn't say it you did. But I am catching up to you real quick like. Not that it was ever great but my ability to do math in my head went down the tubes. I went to dreadx profile and saw his birth year listed and then went and completely mangled it.
  20. No, I trail you by a few months.
  21. I agree. Get your sig in line. You can be Fleet Commander at home but not here.
  22. Define "almost". I bet I'm there.
  23. I liked this. Ripped from e-mail. No link. ----------------------------------- Virus: The George Bush Virus - Causes your computer to keep looking for viruses of mass destruction. The Ronald Reagan Virus - Saves your data, but forgets where it is stored. The Clinton Virus - Gives you a permanent Hard Drive with NO memory. The Al Gore Virus - Causes your computer to just keep counting and re-counting. The Bob Dole (aka Viagra) Virus - Makes a new hard drive out of an old floppy. The Lewinsky Virus - Sucks all the memory out of your computer, then e-mails everyone about what it did. The Arnold Schwarzenegger Virus - Terminates some files, leaves, but will be back. The Mike Tyson Virus - Quits after two bytes. The Oprah Winfrey Virus - Your 200 GB hard drive shrinks to 100 GB, then slowly expands to re-stabilize around 150 GB. The Ellen Degeneres Virus - Disks can no longer be inserted. The Prozac Virus - Totally screws up your RAM, but your processor doesn't care. The Joey Buttafuoco Virus - Only attacks minor files. The Lorena Bobbitt Virus - Reformats your hard drive into a 3.5 inch floppy ... then discards it through Windows
  24. That's ok. I only revived it because of The Amazing Race discussion. We all family here. Perhaps later when we get more members I may become picky. Good luck on the Pilot's license. I can drive a stickshift. It's all I'll buy. For now. And I can drive a forklift. With or without side shift. Without side shift is a little harder but not much. You just have to aim better on the way in. Now to get you back. quote:My cockpitbuddy Somehow that just don't sound right. Oh, and dreadx? Older? Bah! But ya only got about ten great years left. Get all ya can while ya can. Some things don't work so well after 35.
