  4. Hmmm, perhaps I am misplacing some events. I don't remember allowing the shuttle to dock while I was cloaked. And it did have to wait for the blast off sequence when it retrieved the drone so ya'll putting the eagle eye on it is still funny. Ah well the story is mainly how I remember it and still a blast.
  5. Oh yeah it was a blast. I was doing some mining and they were sitting over there by the Castrin jump gate whispering amongst themselves. A Terran Police something or other decided he wanted a piece of my Trancor ODS. I decided to have a bit of fun. I cloaked and went after the Police. Watching them in chat saying "Get ready he ought to be here any second" was hilarious. When I came out of cloak I could almost hear jaws dropping. Well, in a fit of brilliance I had assigned two shuttles to pick up the same drone so I had to send shuttle 3 back to get its drone. I then cloaked again and jumped to Somaris gate. "Watch that shuttle." "It's just sitting there not doing anything." Then I ran out of iridium and my cloak shut down. So here come three raiders to do battle shortly there after. Furball doesn't even begin to describe what happened. I was rotating around trying to line at least one of them in my sights so I could go for the main gun but everytime I did my shields started depleting so I would roll back. I weaved in and out of all of them never doin enough damage to any one guy at a time for it to count. Their shields kept recharging. They did manage to get my shields down to zero several times so after listening to several damage reports I targeted Resilient and got outta there. That was great fun.
  6. If raiders are bad wouldn't you WANT a bunch of negative experience points?
  7. I like Edwards better than anyone else that was being talked about. [ 07-10-2004, 01:11 PM: Message edited by: Cmdr Chavik ]

  9. "Recent" massive solar flare seen travelling through solar system. The massive solar flare that was seen "recently" has been recorded by several orbiters and effects were observed out to Saturn. Cool. (HA!!! Finally saw one worth posting. )
  10. I love stuff like this. Pretty cool stuff.
  11. quote:p.s. i serched the board and no one said who he wasYou can't be serious? Use my member number and/or name and do a search (all forums, it will take a while) on his name. I don't think I posted on him too much but the one I am remembering is how he used to act in the bc3k days and what earned him his reputation.

  14. Set quite a few fence posts today. The T-bar kind. Chain link too expensive to do my entire back yard. Now Big Brother 5 and Amazing Race start again. Needless to say you won't see me on a server until those shows are over.
  15. quote:I read somewhere, that the surface environment from Casinni looked like a half melted icecream sundae. That's in the CNN article as well as the Yahoo! AP article I read. I think it's a quote from one of the guys. One of the neater things to mee is that Titan is big enough to be a planet "in it's own right". (another stolen quote but a common phrase) Which leads to the debate on what defines a planet and what do you call everything. Don't know if we have discussed that before but there are several article out there. Neat stuff.
  16. Snagging from LostInSpace's link quote:Kevin Baines, a member of the visual and infrared spectrometer team, said scientists were disappointed that they hadn't seen evidence of liquids through reflections of sunlight on smooth surfaces of the moon. "We thought we'd see some flashes, and we haven't seen any. So we're a little perplexed," he said after a news conference at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. Got 'em perplexed it does. quote:Near-infrared images of Titan prompted scientists to question previous theories about the moon's surface. They had thought brighter areas of the moon were thick layers of ice and darker areas were a mixture of substances including hydrocarbons, but they said it appears the opposite is true. Many more fly by's to go though.
  17. Nope no draft. No way no how. At least that's what they are saying. We're only increasing the staff, increasing the funds, and reviewing records, but nope we're not gonna have a draft. Oh well. Interesting article. Google pulled up the link and it gets you the first page. To read page two you have to be registered. I think somebody posted a "cheater" site where you could get passwords without registering. Hmmm, previewing the post the link takes you straight to the registration page. Military Draft? Official Denials Leave Skeptics Paste the above into Google and click search. That should work if you aren't registered. Edit again: quote:Seeking to blunt public speculation, the Web site of the Selective Service System carries a long notice saying in part that "both the president and secretary of defense have stated on more than one occasion that there is no need for a draft for the war on terrorism or any likely contingency, such as Iraq." "Additionally," the notice says, "the Congress has not acted on any proposed legislation to reinstate the draft." "The bottom line," said Dan Amon, a spokesman for the Selective Service System, "is it would take an act of Congress because we could not turn it on ourselves. And there is no mood or sentiment in Congress whatsoever for the draft." Polls show there is little public sentiment for it either, no small consideration in the Congressional thinking. In a recent New York Times/CBS News poll, 70 percent of those surveyed were against reinstating the draft, and the opposition was shared almost equally among Democrats, Republicans and independents. The speculation was initially spurred last year when the Selective Service System began trying to fill vacancies on local draft boards. That was accompanied by reports that the agency had received an extra $28 million in its budget. But Mr. Amon said the draft board recruitment effort had been undertaken because of the expiration of the 20-year terms of members appointed after President Jimmy Carter re-established registration in 1980. And the $28 million was the agency's regular budget, cut to $26 million by Congress, he said. Note the phrase Congress has not ACTED on any legislation. The legislation is there they just haven't done anything with it.
  18. I agree. LOTS of server disconnects.
  19. Home from where? I was more than a little worried. I thought you had dropped off the face of the earth! Welcome back!
  20. I was up late. I'm sure you'll get me next time. I musta just missed Weegee darn it.
  21. Hmmm, our theatres (Carmike) have a frequent movie card. Not quite sure how it works but the rewards escalate from a drink to a popcorn to a free movie pass. Dunno if it starts over again or they make you wait longer for a better reward or what but yes, as many movies as SC sees, he needs one of those cards. To try and pretend I'm being on topic the one review I read said that they had really outdone themselves. I really want to see this one.
  22. Just shaking the dust out of the carpet. I'll be on vacation next week. Yay! Not going anywhere but taking a break from work. Gotta burn those days.
