My Challenge to all so-called BC3K Players
Charles Lindsey replied to Gallion's topic in Battlecruiser Millennium
quote:What is this DO I hear whinning from an Insurgent. I'm not whining, this is out and out b*tching. quote: E-gads man - did ye really think that you could just walk away with a shinny new BCMkII and not have to pay for it. No, but neither did I think you would send the whole fleet after it. I'm surprised there wasn't a probe puttering around or a garbage scow to clean up the mess. And if this were BCM I bet you'd have some EVA marines buzzing around like gnats. quote: Check ye CommLink messages I did. It said, "Interceptor One destroyed, Interceptor Two destroyed, Interceptor Three destroyed, Interceptor Four destroyed. " just before I saw my BC explode. While it was switching to the comlink board Paul Resnig used his dying breath to report, "We have run out of combat kits". ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -
My Challenge to all so-called BC3K Players

You are one sadistic little s of a b. Exactly how many enemy (galcom) battlecruisers did you put in that thing? Killed one and at least one more and about 20 ICs (it seemed) beat the stew out of me. Sigh, got killed four times in a row and gave up out of exasperation. You built a toughie. May give it another go when I get over this snit I'm having. One good thing though. Machine kept up a steady 25 fps with the bridge view on. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -
The previews look good. Hope to catch it. I like "Roswell". Don't ask me why I just do. 2nd season. Good story. I am looking for Andromeda. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

[rp] May 18, 3008 06:00 Chavik awoke early and got ready. He went to the galley and opened a french toast nutripak. He went over to the corner with his tray and sat down. After a little trouble with the syrup side of the pak he ate in silence. Unfortunately that didn't last. Apparently perscan was working overtime as every day officer in the ship stopped by to ask a question or two. It was nothing major, just some questions aobut the rotaional pattern and the use of shuttles and the transporters. The doctor asked about medical supplies. Nobody wanted anyhting major but it all added up and soon he was on edge. Chavik finally finished his meal and returned to his quarters. He packed his clothes and several of the jumpsuits that were standard issue to the elite marines. Several more firearms went into the case. Some knives and brass knuckles as well. Pixan was not the sort of place to be unprepared. He finished packing and looked at the techno widgets Akira's men had given him. The laser pen went into his pocket. Turning, he picked up the shoes and looked at them . He found the catch and looked inside the compartment. Instead of just the heel the whole sole came off. Chavik pulled out the special firearm and looked at it. The barrell came off first; then the energy cell slid out of the handle. He supposed it really didn't matter which of those went first so he shrugged and looked at the handle. It came apart into two peices. He tried to fit them inot the shoes and discovered that only the barrel would fit inside one shoe while the disassembled handle fit into the other one leaving no room for the power supply. That he threw into his bag. 11:00 Chavik caught one of the shuttles and rode down to the surface of Polaris. Mr. Brom happened to be on that trip and seeing the size of Chavik's bag just leered at him. Chavik just shrugged and stared at the floor. 11:15 The shuttle landed and Chavik left with the others. As they walked away from the pad Chavik heard a whine increase in pitch. He turned and watched the shuttle lift off, slowly turn, and ascend back to the heavens. Many people called them slugs. Chavik smiled slightly as he watched the shuttle disappear. More like the ugly duckling he thought. He was jolted out of his reverie by a passerby. He turned and looked at the mass of people walking towards the plaza. Well, time to find alternate methods of tranport, he thought. [RP] one more and I'll get there. I checked with the man in case anyone else needs that info. It's scan for energy cells and frisked for simple weapons. -

Ok darn it. One post scans for energy sigs. Gallions post scans for every thing that could be even turned into a weapon. Grrrrr. Will re-read Blades post and interpret as others have done and let Blades decide. Will just have to post and see what happens. Talked to Blades this weekend. Got one thing specifically ok'd and others I assumed were "if written well" you could do it. Will just have to see if I write them well enough. Not really a rant. Just seeing different interpretations from Blades post. Will do my own and see if they stick. Will get something up tomorrow (monday 10/30/00) night. And will pretty much catch up. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -
Had a good time today. Some friends and I went to a Corn Maize (maze). That was fun. Took us about 40 mins to go through it. If the name isn't self-explanatory it's a corn field with a maze cut thru it. From the air (they had a pic) this one looked like a spiders web. I dressed as a pirate. Been growing a goatee for a couple months and this week let the rest of it fill in so I looked really scruffy. Went to Party City and bought a Pirte's Tuban (I think that's what they called it), an eye patch, and some vinyl boot tops that were folded over like the pirate boots of yore. My own black jeans and a t-shirt that had horizontal black and white stripes completed the outfit. Had fun. If you can get to one of those mazes do it. Way cool. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

Very good point Ben. He's trading two shuttles for two "better" fighters. He is not eliminating ALL shuttles. Just two. A roleplay evacuation would be a tight squeeze but it could work. Eclipse. Ok I thought it was two ideas. An either/or type of thing. Now I see you only intend four but two of them will be better class of IC. Gotcha. I think that would work. Now I understand what you meant about the IC bays as well. Seems workable to me. You forgot one disadvantage though. People are going to be tripping over long cables you're going to have to install. Careful Zeke, don't go Parias on us. . ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 10-24-2000).]

quote:Replacing shuttles with fighters, Personally I like. You been reading my mind haven't you? Was just talking about this with someone and planned on using it for the current "Into the Fire" thread. Since BC's were not allowed into the region anyway the idea got nixed and I got no problem with it. Mine will stay stock, no biggie. Yours can be modified perhaps. quote: and replacing 2 IC bays with the extra support materials necessary for these fighters. (if the new fighters are larger than the existing IC bays.) uhhhhhhm no. You can't have 6 IC's; remove 2 IC bays for the extra equipment, and be able to launch all six from 2 bays. unlessthat is your major disadvantage for having them. Personally I might axe 2 shuttles and use that space for the IC's. You would use your original four chargers to prep all 6 IC's ( a small disadvantage but not so huge as the other) and launch the other 2 from the shuttle bay. Hey, they can land and launch planetside why not in the bay. Added small disadvantage is the extra time for careful launch. quote:Swapping IC's for another fighter class of equal or lesser lenghth.( might require chipping into a CB to place equiptment. That's interesting as well. Different chargers. Longer charging time. Might work. But not 6 of them I think. quote:Enhancing sensor capabilities, eg. possible to increase the ability to detect ship emissions, plasma vents etc. to find a cloaked ship. (prolly eat up CB's like gallion. ) hmmmmmmm. Extra Ic's would turn your BC into a major offensive platform. The added sensors would seem to be a major unbalance. quote:not sure how or what I'm gonna be allowed to do yet, so here goes. Fair enough. Seems you are asking for a consensus. The above are my opinions only and influenced heavily by Gallion's "Balancing sidebar" in the "Fire" thread. You do have to give up something to get something. As Always, even with a consensus among us RP'ers Derek has final say if he has a problem with it. (Gallion, this would be a good place to put your sidebar instead of just ditching it. Good points in it. Would hate to lose it. ) ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

Wing "commander" is not allowed. That should be Wing Leader. Sigs are also not allowed unless they are the signature for the entire wing. Seems you are Wing Leader for Epsilon wing so that is your choice. But it is Insurgent. Into The Fire : ACT ONE - Alliances

[rp] May 17, 3008 07:00 Chavik awoke slowly. He sat up in bed and sighed. He was no longer worried about the missing commanders but he was determined to find out what had happened. He showered and prepared for the day. He went back to his office and examined records. Everything had appeared normal until Rattler had gathered a battle group. After that the reports had stopped. Whatever it was ahd been very important Chavik supposed. No flight plan had been recorded and once they had left the system all tracking had stopped. Chavik spent the better part of the morning going thru everyone's files. Everything had been normal until this. And then something important had happened. Chavik could not guess and Rattler's message didn't help. 10:30 A few more supplies had been loaded and Chavik had been on a scavenger hunt himself. He went to Akira's labs and got a few of the special toys Akira was fond of producing. That the lab technician chose to explain them in exquisite detail left Chavik with a lingering feeling of Deja vu. A laser pen was Chavik's personal favorite. At low power it was an ordinary laser light pointer but turned up it was something a bit more. Shoes with secret compartments in the heels seemed to be standard. He was shown other more exotic devices but he rejected all but the pen and the shoes. Some small persuasion convinced him to take a firearm that broke down into various peices. 12:30 Chavik broke for lunch. The worry was completely gone now. It had been replaced by the anticipation of doing something. The trip to Antis had driven home the fact that Pixan was an enemy station. There would be no docking with the Phoenix. The knee jerk "stay out of my yard" defense had proven that. Primed and ready to go she was useless. Chavik mulled over this as he ate his lunch. She wasn't entirely useless. She was a launch platform. Shuttles were disregarded by stations as they were not weaponless. He thought on this more. 18:30 Chavik had come up with a plan. Without knowing what he was getting into it was shaky but the best he could come up with. He returned to the Phoenix and they plotted course for Polaris2. 19:00 The Phoenix arrived at Polaris2 and docked with Velari Starstation. Chavik gave general shore leave in rotational patterns. He himself went to his quarters and went to bed thinking about tomorrow. There was much to do. [/rp] Almost caught up. Congrats on the job Blades. Here's to being sneaky. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -
Into The Fire : Prologue and brief

Couple of questions for myself now. Just how resourceful are we allowed to be Blades? To paraphrase you aren't going to allow and weapons or comms. Well Savage will try not to. If I remember correctly transports actually have a very small crew. What kind of ship is the SS Vulture? A transport? or a secret? Is it still if we write it well we can get away with it? ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -

[rp] May 16, 3008 08:30 Commander Chavik had sent messages to each of the fleet leaders and had not gotten a response from anyone yet. That Rattler was gone he already knew but apparently so was everyone else. Before Chavik had retired he had sent messages to the various Fleet Leaders and still no one had responded. Even the Station commanders were gone. This was unlike anything Chavik had seen before. Certainly commanders had gone off station before but never had they simply disappeared. Worry was quickly turning to genuine concern. At 07:00 hours he had ordered the Phoenix fully stocked and a thorough systems check done. The Station was a bit short on a couple of things so he contacted Commodore Parias and ordered the remaining items he wanted. The systems check was coming along more slowly than he would have liked. He had ordered a level 5 check though. From the Station's launch bay he could see technician's flying over the hull in EVA suits and the occasional flash as they repaired minor nicks armor. After watching that for a while he went aboard to check on the status of the internal systems. Touring inside he noticed the techs had the weapons computer torn almost completely down. The same was true with the nav computer. Seeing that everything was going well Chavik went back to his quarters. 13:40 The systems check was winding down. It had taken a couple more tours to prove how serious he was about having it completed on time and soon everyone got the message. He had frightened one young ensign so badly he had bolted. After calming him down Chavik had helped replace the part. 14:15 After helping replace the stubborn part Chavik was dirty. He returned to his office and checked messages. Still no replies. He went to his quarters and cleaned up. 16:00 The systems check and consequent repairs to the Phoenix had been completed. She was in better shape than she had been in several years. Chavik was satisfied with that but not content. Something was up. He ordered the crew to return to the Phoenix. Upon entering the bridge Chavik ordered launch and a flight path to The Den. 16:30 After arriving at the Den Chavik went to his office there and checked messages once again. There were still none. No one on the station knew where Rattler or Akira were so Chavik made a decision. He went to Rattler's office. He wasn't sure if he would regret it or not but he did it. Chavik input an access code Rattler had given him long ago. The door to Rattler's office opened. Chavik entered and the door shut immediately behind him and several panels lit. The last message had been sent tightbeam to Jester. The fact that Jester was involved prived to Chavik just how serious the situation was. Disregarding the high level access that code had given him Chavik shut down the systems and left. Worried now nore than ever he went to his quarters in The Den and tried to sleep. [/rp] Ok I am catching up by date. Rattler; I hope access code was ok. Hopefully no major character will run away with story before I catch up. You've already jumped dates with no explanation. I'm trying to catch up while filling each date with something. I got a whole RP day to post stuff in. Just don't want the fireworks to start without me. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -

[rp] 22:30 May 15, 3008 With Chavik gone Mr. Brom brought the hyperjump engines online and brought the Phoenix around to the coordinates Mr. Harrison had calculated. The jump took only a few seconds then the Flux Field loomed large in the viewscreen. Mr. Brom eased the Phoenix forward at 75% throttle. The Flux Field grew larger still as they approched and soon everyone could see the enormous energies the field was made of. It was a gaseous cloud with lightning arcing through the mist. At the center was a black point. The point of singularity that would take them to their destination. The Phoenix drew ever nearer to the singularity and the field filled the bridgeviewer. The massive energies drew the Phoenix in and they jumped. Chavik sat in his quarters wondering what had brought on mention of Christopher Sly. That traders knew of it was most disturbing. It had to have been sent broadband. Chavik thought of going back to the bridge but knew he wouldn't be much good until he learned what the heck was going on. Best to let his crew do their job and not make them nervous with his presence. The Phoenix had jumped and wound up 200 clicks further from the station than when they entered the Flux Field. The exit point had swung back around to the same region the entry point was in. Mr Harrison recalculated the waypoint and the Phoenix again eased forward. Again the swirling energy grabbed the Phoenix and they jumped. This time they were 300 clicks away from the field but this time were closer to the station. Once more the Phoenix entered the heart of the Flux Field and jumped. "This is getting tiring," said Mr. Brom. "Nature of the Beast," replied Mr. Harrison as he calculated the waypoint for the third time. "Unstable little suckers." "Never had one this stubborn before," said Mr Brom after his sixth attempt. Just after he promised himself he would contact Chavik after this attempt failed, they made it. Mr. Harrison plotted the course and they headed to Sygan. After they had docked Communications officer Kathy Siamet informed Chavik that they had arrived. He thanked her and headed straight to his office. He turned on his computer and the messages indicator started blinking. Opening his messages he noticed one marked urgent. Communication TO: Chavik FROM : RATTLER SUBJECT : SPECIAL OPS CONTENT : Feathers Commander Chavik, The following is FYEO. This message will autodelete itself in 60 seconds and will leave no records in your database. We need to meet to discuss a matter of the utmost urgency. You are to make every effort to travel to the Pixan Starstation and meet with myself, and another representative on board the SS Vulture at 23:30 hrs, 18th May 3008. Come alone and unescorted. USE alternative methods of transportation to reach your destination, and tell no one of your movements, or whereabouts. All will be revealed shortly. End Communication. Chavik was more worried than ever. The SS Vulture was a free lance name. And what was Rattler doing at Pixan? Alternate methods my ass, thought Chavik. A call down to the loading bays ensured the Phoenix would be well stocked. Two days to get to Pixan. Plenty of time to plan. Or worry. BCM What are YOU gonna do?
Charles Lindsey replied to Charles Lindsey's topic in Battlecruiser Series
quote:We already know Gallion has a match set up with a bunch of IC pilots. quote:How about four or five IC's vs one BC? I'd love to be in the BC for that. Beat ya to it. I did mean Gallion would be in the BC. I didn't make that clear though. That idea is from his "peashooter" thread down in Wraith forum. And in hoonor of my good friend Rico Jansen I think Trade Wars would be fun. Timed match and whoever trades to get the most money wins. Sell your own stuff or find it in debris fields. How about a transgalactic race? With mines as hazards. Explosions would probably slow you down a bit giving the other guy the edge. IC's or shuttles. On the ground it could be ATV or skimmer races. hehe, ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -
Given the career choices I think it would be interesting to hear what people want to try. We already know Gallion has a match set up with a bunch of IC pilots. That would be fun to watch. I thinking one on one or four on four will be popular. Capture (x) station would be fun and if anyone gets a script going find artifact (x) would be fun. That's not even counting the ground career options. What do you want to try? ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

Into The Fire : ACT ONE - Alliances
Charles Lindsey replied to Blades's topic in Role Playing Discussions
[rp] Verse and meter travelled through space. Most who received it were confused. Few knew it's origins and fewer still knew it's true meaning. But it was heard and repeated. Chavik was at Majoris commissioning supplies for the several stations being built. It had been a long day overseeing the loading of the equipment he had been able to find. He was relaxing in one of the establishments that catered to the organics. Several traders were sitting at the bar along with some tourists. Scattered around the pub were several more tables full of traders. The tech items that the Droidans sold were apparently very much in demand. A stooped zelon entered the bar. Several people turned around to look in cluding Chavik. There was nothing special about him that Chavik could tell so he turned back around as did most of the others. As Chavik turned he caught a Falkerie at the next table motion to him. The Zelon sat with his back to Chavik and ordered his drink from the automated console. A waitress appeared with it a short time later. The Zelon settled up and the waitress left. The Zelon leaned forward a bit but still spoke plainly. "Have you heard of the Christopher Sly?" Chavik felt his face go warm. He hadn't heard that name in a very long time. Chavik ordered another drink and tried to listen without seeming too. "The Ghost ship perhaps?" said the Falkerie. Apparently the Zelon was confused because he shook his head. "A ship," continued the Falkerie, "black as the background of space itself. None have caught it. It can fade like a ghost in the night. It attacks our oppressors though so we do not join in the search." The Zelon had started nodding understanding halway through the Falkeries explanation. "Yes, we have heard of the ship. Some of the Gammulans call it the devil ship. We have heard of it in our travels. Some have seen it. They say it has a human skull painted on it. It must be a great warrior indeed to take on both the humans and the Gammulans. " "Yes it must. But it is not sly. It sneaks through the night and attacks from behind. Not sly at all. " "Perhaps not," said the Zelon. "But it is interesting. Something is afoot. Someone will pay for this info." The Falkerie laughed, "if you knew what it meant." "It will become apparent in time," replied the Zelon as he returned to his drink and more idle conversation. It was already apparent to Chavik. Something was up. He needed to get back and check the station's logs and see if it recorded the message. He got up and headed straight for the Phoenix. Seeing that all equipment and supplies had been loaded Chavik ordered immediate departure. As soon as they were far enough away from the station to iniate safe maneuvering Flight Officer David Brom asked, "Where to?" "Sygan, " said Chavik. Before he could say anything else Navigations Officer Edwin Harrison informed him that the course had been laid into Navitron. Chavik continued, "set course for Flux 06. Best speed." "Sir?" asked David Brom. "Now," said Chavik, ice settling into his voice. It warmed only slightly as he told them he would be in his quarters. Mr. Brom looked over at Mr. Harrison and shrugged. Harrison shrugged back and they set about the task of sending the Phoenix thru the fastest if not the most reliable way home. An Important Announcement From Insurgent One
Charles Lindsey replied to Rattler's topic in Insurgent Fleets
Balor Fleet has a nice (cough) LRT-10 ready to transport Aramike to any proving grounds necessary. (rp) *shame on me* -
With you both here. While we don't have wings yet there is already a definite separation of duties in Balor fleet. The first is supply,support/transport and the second is defense/escort. As we grow those will expand as well into wings. I should have put this into the announcement thread but the DB just happens to put list people in the order they signed up. I'm not going to forget the "Charter" members of Balor. We have room to grow. Edit in: just noticed this. You want a supply wing. That is Balor's job. Unless your guys rendenvous with my guys that is a duplication of effort. But Darn it, until we get BCM it's all conjecture. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 10-10-2000).]

Balor Fleet Announcement: I have come to a decision on the placement of troops in Balor fleet. Thanks to Rattler for the suggestion. Everyone who has a station/base keeps it. Only the highest levels of any orginization get to roll heads and this one is no different I suspect. I don't know how it is in the military (maybe someone could clue me in) but where I work you inherit the employees that are there. Well I've gotten quite an inheritance. I'm glad to have each and everyone of you. I know you will do Balor and the Insurgency as a whole proud. I've seen you work in the other fleets and have no doubt that you will do the same here. Besides being blessed with that inheritance I have also brought with me a couple of heirlooms. Parias and Finder1 specifically. Both are valued and longtime members of the community. Parias is vocal and keeps the SC in a good mood for us. Finder1 has been my number two (or is that number one) since the groundwork was laid for SSF. Parias; as requested you get command of Sanctuary Storage Facility (SSF). You are hereby promoted to the rank of Commodore and are charged with maintaining it. Take care of her. She was the first supply house for the Insurgency and there are traditions there. (rp) As Commander of the Starbase you are not landlocked into baby sitting it all the time. There are plenty of occasions you can take command of a supply train yourself to make sure everything goes right. Finder1; you have been with me the longest and per Rattler's suggestion I am making you the executive officer (XO) of Balor fleet and hereby promoting you to the rank of Rear Admiral. That is an operations commander rank. You are charged with the operations of Balor Fleet. (rp) That includes checking the station and bases for inventory levels, supply routes, and finding new suppliers. (/rp) That also includes doing what you have been doing all along and keeping me informed of things. I appreciate all of your help. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
