Ok, I could have sworn Derek posted about the smilies being lost and asking if anyone had the link. I let it jiggle around in my head all day today and found this in a search crack's smilies It doesn't say anything about the ubb hack but if; under the "How To" heading on the right of the page; you click "Use Smilies" it shows a UBB Board with the smilie board to the right of it instead of the left like we used to have it. If it's redundant info by now I apologize. Hope it's useful though. They were popular.

Some of them were pretty funny. I especially liked the legal notice on one of them. I did send the link to some friends. One I know will get a kick out of them. He loved the Elian link someone posted a while back. I just wanna know what your original post said in my April Fools "Need a FLeet" thread. C'mon, you can tell me. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

Into The Fire : ACT Three - Firestorm
Charles Lindsey replied to Blades's topic in Role Playing Discussions
Commander Chavik sat in his room wondering what would come next. He had managed to get a few energy cells out of the data pads while all the arguing was going on in the briefing room. He fiddled with the soles of his shoes for a moment trying to get them open. Having been walked on they were not as easy to open as they had been in the lab. He was about ready to use his laser "pointer" when one of them finally popped open. Realizing the secret he quickly opened the other and retrieved the remaining pieces of his pistol. He slid an energy cell into the appropriate chamber and was gratified to see the pistol begin the charging sequence. While pondering exactly what he was going to do with the thing while he fished out one of the other energy cells. He'd brought the nails now where the hell was the damn hammer? The ship they were on had no missile capability. Chavik doubted they would even be able to get one to dumb fire out of a cargo bay if they had too. He almost laughed. First they had to get them aboard first. If Blades hadn't already discovered the three small blips tailing them. If they were actually being tailed at all. Chavik had gambled heavily on the shuttle's sensors being able to detect him aboard the Vulture. He could only hope that they had maintained the original lock when he had walked aboard. No sooner had he made the thought than an announcement came over the comms. Chavik cursed. He was no way prepared for a situation like this. The glee of having a functional weapon aboard the Vulture turned to glum as he realized the weapon might only be able to get a shot or two off. He quickly equipped his suit with an energy cell and activated it. As Chavik slowly vanished the gammulan troopers began invading the ship. In the darkness of space three shuttles slowly gained on thier tentative target lock. Suddenly it was lost. A young Zelon wondered what had happened. The shuttles came to a halt while the computers searched for the target. . Several minutes later the lock was re-established and the three shuttles once again tried to reach their objective. -

I've been planning to post for a week now. Should do it in one. It will just catch me up from act two to present. -
Same here. Happy Birthday!

Heh, just ain't wound up yet. I thought it was rather good if a bit concise. Besides that's the whole point (rp spin) I wouldn't even waste my breath to try to spit on you. You aren't even worth that. (close RP) Rather good insult I thought. RP speaking that is.
-
[rp] Why anyone would even squander the breath it would take to hark up a good spit wad only to waste it on the likes of you is beyond me. At least you have the courage to say hello, but go back to your inferiors and follow them blindly like a good lemming should. [/rp] Was that more like what you were expecting. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

Got room for a fleet? I am considering moving Balor Fleet to Galcom. Are double defections allowed? Of course this means you will have to put up with Parias again but he's no worse than I am.

What a Find! (Bargain Bin Treasures)
Charles Lindsey replied to Charles Lindsey's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
Kush, was it a jewel case only Limited Edition or just an old boxed version? Jewel case it's probably like what I have found. I would love to play SS2 but even the demo was way to creepy for me. I don't think I could handle it. -
What a Find! (Bargain Bin Treasures)

Rename treasures to Trinkets. Just figured out these are limited editions. The three scenarios in RRT2 don't bother that much but Deus Ex will not except the multiplay patch. Slightly dissappointing. Found on the Deus Ex forum it supposedly only has the first 5 missions. For $9 still not bad it's just not the treasure I thought it was. -
Into The Fire : ACT Three - Firestorm

Mikel: Ouch, that was a while back. OK. Caught me not knowing everything. It's why I asked. Caine: We are using the in game ranking. The "captain" of a BC is a commander. That's it. That's your rank. Or it's your title if you will. But it is one and the same. There was a huge discussion on this awhile back. Derek finally laid down the law. you would be (in no particular order) Independent mercenary Commander (first name) Caine UCV (ship name) Quote Thanks for being upbeat about it. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester -
Just a small hint. When you are editing your posts for the second or third time, go to the very bottom of your text and delete all the "Edited by "forum name"" messages. Keeps your post neat without two or three (I've seen four) edit messages at the end. It also keeps people from knowing how many times you messed up. (wonders if the UBB people could fix that) ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

Mikel; Which one was the android? It's not impossible one is aboard but that was quite a surprise. Caine: Nitpick; I believe the tense of the verb dispel that you are looking for is dispels. I also have a prob with your sig. Just noticed it. It should closely match Zeke Stone's sig. Mercs are independent therefore do not have ranks. Your title is then commander. Also being independent you can't lead anything so you can't be a wing leader. -
quote:Are we clear now? If you can't be clear in a post, fer crissakes, don't post! Sorry SC, I been giving him lessons.

According to those links he brought down a network by using his ISP as a mirror for a very popular game. They had so many hits of such a large file it choked the server(s). That's "Denial of Service" and it's a crime. Then he allegedly wrote an article explaining what he did and how others could do it. That shows malicious intent or at the very least an awareness of what he was doing. He didn't help his case with that temper. We saw it here with his other post on BCM. No, being "hauled off" was not harsh. You do a crime you get "hauled off". dnoyeB!; quote:Where im from the cops use this drug law that lets they search your ride if they think you look like you use or sell drugs. That's profiling in my mind. There have been a lot of news stories about racial profiling down here lately. quote:He had a 5MB limit. They never said he HACKED their computers in order to get 500MB on them. If they let him put it there, its their own dumb fault. Hacking in would have been another charge. Regardless, I'm sure somewhere in his ISP agreement (contract) there was a stated limit. AOL has a 2mb limit per screenname. That's why my fleet site is on the Chavik name. I also believe AOL has measures to prevent exceeding that limit but I'm sure you could on ocassion and would get warned to remove the excess. Whether they had limits or not it's still in the contract and your responsibility not to break that contract. I think it was way out of line and he is rightfully being charged with a crime. Go read the now 4 page thread over at that forum from one of the above links.

quote:Besides, who would suspect that a clunky, boxy, primitive-looking ship would be a threat?? (Until it was too late anyways...) That weren't you? Clunky? I like them. I like them all. They actually look like ships now. I did not like those orange things in BC3K. My favorite was the LRT-10. It just flat out looked like a cargo ship. Now my favorite is the new canlon. Quoting lengths. Lengths: Voyager: no more than 300 meters The Entreprise: About 600-700 meters (1701 or 1701d? {Next Gen ship}) Nebulon frigate: 600meters (not sure) ISD: 1 mile (1606 meters) SSD (executor): about 18km Eclipse I and II: about 12km The MK3 according to the BC3K manual is 1800 ft in length. From a conversion site http://www.metric4us.com/calculator.html that makes the MK3 548 meters. That's over 50% larger than Voyager. I think it would kick Voyager in the tailpipe. It's almost up there with the Enterprise (whichever one that is and that's quite a plus/minus factor) So I think it would do pretty darn good against that one. Star Wars ships (the one quoted) are just too darn big so no contest there. Maybe some of the smaller ones in the Star wars universe but not those huge things. It could probably take a Wing Commander ship and/or the Galctica. Can't think of any more widely known sci fi ships right now though I am sure there are some I missed. Anyway, no hard feelings and my opinions only. Just a fun thread. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

"Paraphrase changing MP3 files." quote:But I think you all would probably not, isn't that right? No, I will change those files to anything that suits me. quote:Just kidding, I'm not trying to be sarcastic; then why did you ask? quote:the music is pretty good, Very good. I really like all of it. quote: except the main title song feels out of place once you are in the game (i think that the main title theme should only be on the main title). That I can almost agree with. But if it's a good piece of music why not include it in the general soundtrack? ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

I like your page Pugwash. I corrected it so it would work. I removed the extra "." after www and added the http:// in front of the address. It now works from the Fleet DB page. You also have a Generis. Per request if I read that right. I have a major gripe about unarmed transports. Why anyone in the world (uhh galaxy? ) would wander around unarmed while knowing the current politics is beyond me. Economics I suppose but still riles me. And I'm not talking just this game either. I'm talking every book I've read or movie I've seen. People climb in an unarmed transport and "Hope they don't run into trouble". Uhmmm, If you think htere is going to be trouble why bother? Get an armed transport or an escort. Sheesh. End of rant. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

quote:And another thing, why is it that we rarely have any RPG stories about indies? I mean the fleet RPG stories are good but we really need some good indie stories to spice things up. Perhaps because no one is writing any? Some people wrote merc characters for the first gam war. They helped there and someone is writing on in Blades current thread. quote: Who knows, maybe their will be a crossover type of story where the indies play a major role that earns us our respect and recognition. Go for it. As a whole I would say no though. But certain characters could be upstanding while others will be unscrupulous. Will be the same in game as well. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester

SC = Supreme Commander. That's his handle here on the forum. AKA Derek Smart, designer, programmer of BC3K, BCM etc. If you are making a cd be aware that the BCM songs are copyrighted and Derek does not play when it comes to copyright issues. [edit in] If you are making a cd for your own personal use that's different. The songs were made available to the public at one time so they should be ok for personal use. Sign on to www.bc3000ad.com and click launch. On the next page find GNN and click that, go to archives etc., etc. [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 03-21-2001).]

Commas Pugwash, don't forget the commas. IVC The Black Pig, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Have tweaked the Balor Staff page some more. Put everyone in order by rank even though the fleet db shows by order of registration. I also linked everyone's name to their fleet db profile like I said. Check it out.

What you do is slip the admins a case of Empirian ale and see what happens.
