A guy who used to be my friend is a vegetarian because of the cruelty to animals issue. My view is that vegetarianism is a philosophical choice that I absolutely respect. Veganism is just another extreme viewpoint whose only useful purpose is to define one of the limits of the argument. From a health standpoint it has it's own issues.

Thanks for the input guys. The reason I'm asking is that my hard drive took a dump on me last week. Fortunately all of my important data is still there and I have been able to get to it. When I get a spare grand in my pocket then I will consider the nas route. It seems you are a little higher up the food chain than I am SC . For now, I will use DVD-RW and a second hd.

Oh man!!! Season finale coming up! So cool to see the president and Adama cozying up. I wonder if she will die in the middle of the next season? The doctor said it could be a matter of weeks right? I am still really marveling over this show. Just an incredibly successful attempt at redefining and reinventing a show. Particularly impressive since the tone is decidedly darker than the original. It's like sci-fi crack to me!

I too would gladly rp with anyone who is willing to expend the effort. I had decided to join Shingen in a narrative and then he got banned. Forward speaking as he is, I was disheartened when he was banned. I like him. We are the new commanders who must carry the torch. True RP will have a resurgence as long as one thing remains true: There is always someone or a collection of someones who just want to tell a story.

I have to agree with Saint. While I have enjoyed these games for a few years and will probably play them until I can no longer click a trackball button, I have been a little taken aback by the fact that ONE cap ship can take out a star station in less than 30 seconds. I can just imagine the glorious battles as two cap ships have a knockdown dragout, using everything at their disposal, that lasts a couple of minutes or more. Like two pugilists in the last round of a championship fight. Another thing I would like (although even I can probably see why this would not be feasable) is the ability to record gameplay to playback later with exterior views that can be adjusted on the fly just as they work in-game. What a great after action MP tool this would be! Oh man, I think I'm gonna go catatonic if I keep dreaming these dreams!

No need to apologize. Your posts so far have been thoughtful and appropriate (not that I'm any official judge, leave that to SC and the forum moderators). It's also clear that you do research and read before you post. Unlike some who don't, post a topic already covered, and then get huffy when they get slapped down by the SC. If you ever have a tech support question though, I would advise to complete your system profile information before posting in those forums. For example your radeon card should be using CATALYST 5.8 I believe. I'm curious as to what you research. If you can't or don't want to answer that's ok. If you do then send me a pm as I am already getting far off topic. BTW I love your sig!

Which backup procedure(s) do you guys use and why. I backup to DVD-RW right now but it is tedious and cumbersome. Time to get smart about it.

Yeah. A completely unbalanced review. You know what? Mainstream reviewers should not be allowed to handle this type of game for a review. Leave that to those who actually know what this kind of game is about. *sheesh* Effing boneheads!

Just saying that I'm sure that MS will hook us up with at least one sizzling launch title. To be fair, GTA had that whole questionable morals thing going on that the youth of today find so intoxicating, and that helped its sales over and above the excellent design. Halo was simply one of the most beautifully designed games ever devised by mankind. As far as sales figures, you are right about GTA:San Andreas vs. Halo 2. That's not the whole story though. PS2 market penetration far outstrips Xbox by nearly three to one and yet Halo 2 still sold 4.2 million units in 2004 while GTA sold 5.1. Reference this here and this. So which game is better? Really an unanswerable question since they are different genres. The good news is that it doesn't really matter because they are among the best that each genre has to offer. GTA is the king of its, while Halo is somewhat disputed(all the more reason to be impressed with it's sales numbers:much smaller installed base and much stiffer competition from other outstanding games in the same category). Ahhhh, it's just good to be a gamer right now, and it will only get better for now. Yes, I will have both also, although I think that I will buy fewer games as my PC gaming time has increased dramatically over the last couple of years due to my renewed interest in RPGs(Morrowind) and sims (BCM, UC(AWA), and Falcon 4.0: Allied Force) It didn't used to be this way: Too many games and too little time. I need about four more clones to play the games I don't have time to play and feed their experiences directly into my brain!

I don't think that MS will have trouble finding a killer app. Remember that little game called Halo?
