Yeah....t-shirts, hats, sweats, and slippers!! Don't forget decals for my PC and posters for my computer room. Picture that in your mind: middle-aged man in full BC/UC regalia, drinking out of a BC/UC branded mug, furiously feeding insurgents hot photons!!!

I would like to see dual controller support so I can use my Nostromo Speedpad and my Saitek joystick at the same time. I would also like to bind groups of fighters to hot keys so that tacops is not my only solution for ordering multiple ships at once. I'm sure there are more but I'm too tired to think much right now.

It took awhile for me to sit down here and type some first impressions. I've had some difficulties and wanted to be able to focus. Graphics-Let me state the obvious by saying that the graphics are a significant step forward. Any naysayers out there simply don't understand the tradeoffs required by a game of this depth. To have visuals of this caliber and still have the complexity that all of us love is a credit to the design and the advancement of computer power. Sound-Love the beefier main gun sounds! The stuff that wasn't broke you didn't fix and of course, that is good. Curse you Red Baron for designing the best space combat sim in the known world. Down Fanboy, down!

OK it's ordered, even with the $6.00 shipping This game series may not have the largest following but those of us you got SC, you got by the short and curlies

Me too. Everything is responding with catlike speed, much like my reflexes! -

I have downloaded it and will try it tonight after work SC. Perhaps this will be a good test since I am overclocked, unlike Darkling. -
Actually there are a few things to do before what you describe, just to get the game to install. I'll have to find the thread again but I may not need it because a buddy of mine is giving me his fathers old computer, and it's oooooold. Probably has Win95 or 98 on it. Original Pentium machine it think.

Oh hot damn SC. I just can't imagine playing one of your games from my couch without buying a 45" LCD and some wirless toys for my PC. All I gotta do is buy an X-BOX 360? Thanks for saving me some cash. Me, I'm also slavering over Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion. The videos of this are A...maz...ing!

Yeah, still there. After work I am going to reset everything to defaults again and see if that helps this time. There's gotta be something more I can do so I am gonna try. -
Just for fun, I installed the BCM that came as a bonus for getting UCAWA early and I had forgotten how much the music rocked in this one. I actually had to copy and paste into my UCAWA folder! Kind of interesting to go back and see what changed. You know, I like the look of the old interface a little better than the current one. I'm just having a blast getting blasted from the past! Next up is trying to find another PC for BC3K or trying to get it to run under Win XP.

I got BC3K ver 2.0 in the jewel case for $5. The description on the back completely sucked me in. This is the kind of game I had been dreaming about ever since the 8-bit console days. I was awestruck and thouroughly intimidated at the same time. I actually only scratched the surface of the game and other forces in my life prevented me from truly mastering it. I sold the computer that I ran it on to a friend and his kids. I also included the game just in case I could get someone started young. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I saw BCMG at the store I worked at and decided to find it online. I did and bought it. Then, two weeks later I saw Universal Combat come in my department freight and bought it on the spot. Bottom line is I am not going anywhere for as long as I breathe and can work a keyboard, joystick, and mouse.

I have updated to 5.8. I dunno why my sys profile is showing my BCMG registration instead of my UC one, but that is old and incorrect info. I have updated a few things in the last couple of weeks and those changes are not showing. Should I email you at your support email address for this issue? I can't find an appropriate thread or forum to start a thread in. -

Darkling, I'm on your side but your system specs don't suggest a system of awe-inspiring power. How many computers do you own? And why are you playing UCAWA on the system in your sig? I know it's a pain, but I understand why SC is doing this. At least as much as someone who doesn't develop and sell PC games does. Oh, and by the way, my sys ain't nothin' to write home about. Wasn't trying to put you down or nothing. -

Hmmm. Something to think about and try. Hadn't thought of that. Nice, Darkling. -
Well said Jag.

Soback, Don't complain about others not being able to spell and/or express themselves since you can't do it yourself. Your are the king of run-on sentences and poor grammar. Having said that, I agree with most of your points. You are much better a student than I on political and historical perspectives. Perhaps.....if you weren't so adversarial, your message would spread farther. Soback, in every revolution, there is one man with a vision. You have that vision. Now, hone your skills so that you may actually bring it to pass.

You get two activations to start. More will cost you $10.00. I suggest updating drivers, defragging your hard drive, and replacing any components that may be of iffy quality or are too old. In short, get your ducks in a row before you install. It has already cost me 1GB of Corsair XMS for $123.00. You have been warned! -

Patched back up to .04 and deleted the ucconfig.ini file which set everything to defaults. No change. Still sluggish to respond. I owe you an apology. I am very sorry that I forgot to mention that if you can get into tacops, then everything is fine. The only time input seems to slow down is in the cockpit or an external view. Again, I apologize for posting incomplete information. -

Just for the record, I have experienced the same issue and for now, have simply gone back to .03. I would describe it as sluggish input response. Doesn't matter if it's keyboard or mouse, I have to use looooong presses to get anything done. My video drivers are fresh installs (thanks for the info. Sapphire only has Cat 5.4 so I went to ATI and got 5.8) as I used Driver Cleaner 2 before installing. DirectX was updated upon first install of UCAWA. My hard drive was defragged two days ago. I wish I knew more about programming. I hate not being able to get my brain around something and having to rely on a workaround but what's a brother gonna do? It appears as if Darkling and I have wildly different systems so their maaaay be something going on, but you're the brains SC. We're just the brawn. It's not a huge issue. The important thing is that I can still play with .03 to get my fleet training done. If you have a suggestion for something to try before you start diverting resources please let me know. I know that you have a full plate all the time (man, I honestly don't know how you do it) and can't track down every little anomaly. Peace and long life brothers. -
Good review and well deserved. Won't say another thing.
