General Universal Combat (v2.00.30) Discussion
Ben Zwycky replied to Taris's topic in Universal Combat Series
We fleet types have a couple of UC servers that can be up on request, though they are invisible to the lobby. Just give us a time and we can arrange for one of them to be up. Ideally, you'd need to join a fleet for that, since they are 'fleet property' , but we can make an exception for your first time to get you hooked -
I'll have to check, but yes, that should be fine. what mission order?

After reactivating his training program, Commander Matt Buckley has been promoted to Level 3 Security clearance and added to the ISS Fleet Fleet Action multiplayer team. Congratualtions, Commander Buckley, may many an enemy of Galcom fall to your guns

Multiplayer Servers Status
Ben Zwycky replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Multiplayer Discussions
well, there are a few people who run private servers , most of them in fleets, that run independently of the public servers (which they also use, but fleets also organise regular training sessions, fun sessions and matches), so joining a fleet would be a great way to get into the MP action, in more way than one -
Congrats, Scriv! Talk about life changes, I joined this community about a year before I was introduced to my first girlfriend (now my wife). Since then, I've graduated, moved house at least 5 times (including a permanent move to another country), changed career twice, got married and had three kids. Can anyone top that?

looking good I think I'll be able to tempt my wife to go and see it with me.

Fleet Action Individual Statistics and Medals
Ben Zwycky replied to Ben Zwycky's topic in Fleet Multiplayer Events
Same on my end; no problems in space, big problems on the ground. Hence the decision to use tribes for ground combat until planetary combat issues in AWA (or SE) are resolved. -

Fleet Action Individual Statistics and Medals
Ben Zwycky replied to Ben Zwycky's topic in Fleet Multiplayer Events
Thought you'd like it. Makes for interesting reading, especially with the wide distribution of 'awards' atm, though that's most likely going to narrow down as the season progresses. As for the broken link, there's a space in the url tag after the = that shouldn't be there. Could you remove it, please? When taken out, the link points here -
For those interested, after the first round of fleet action matches, the individual statistics situation is as follows, for each category the first two places (and ties) are listed. The current leaders in each category will be given after each round, and also any medal awards will be announced here. (these results are very preliminary, as all the players listed have only taken part in one valid match): MVP: 1. Eclipse (Spectre), 1950 EP 2. Case (Wraith), 700 EP Top Ace (space kills-deaths): 1. Ben Zwycky (Wraith), 2 kills, 0 deaths 2. Ixos (Wraith), 1 kill, 0 deaths Toughest Grunt(planetary kills-deaths): 1. Krasus (ISS), 5 kills, 5 deaths 2. Marc Wubbema (ISS), 10 kills, 11 deaths Best Team player: 1= Eclipse (Spectre), 100% mission success rate 1= Ben Zwycky (Wraith), 100% mission success rate 1= Case (Wraith), 100% mission success rate 1= Ixos (Wraith), 100% mission success rate Greatest Conqueror: No regions conquered as yet For the complete (and latest) picture, you can view individual stats module [ 11-15-2006, 07:07 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Mission outcome: unsuccessful. ISS Fleet sent too few men into the fray, and though they fought hard, the numerical disadvantage was too great a hurdle to overcome. The Treas system remains neutral to both sides, though ISS Fleet is now stationed there. The Map and stats modules have been updated accordingly. Spectre Fleet Leader, your next mission order, please.

Just use a double line break in your word version, that has no problem pasting over.

Yep, that would be 9pm our time, Marc. As was stated in the first post in this thread , you can go to http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/ to see what your local time zone is relative to GMT (including daylight saving time) and when daylight saving changes occur (you can even use it to correct your clock to the nearest second). This mission order has been entered in the module for November the 12th at 8pm GMT, and will be directly a ground campaign, since the space region is undefended, and for the purposes of the test season, even unoccupied planets have to be conquered in a ground campaign. Please send the relevant low intel document to the document handlers as soon as possible. Prepare for battle!

there's already a thread for this technology (although with a slightly different video here)

ok, I'm in and got the email of tomorrow's schedule, including my own and Fox's events, so it looks like it's all good. My availability time event is all set up as a series, maybe need to add a note to that saying I need 24 hours notice to reliably meet up, could you edit it to say that, please, Mr administrator, sir? Later, Ben

OK, we need a proposed time (or some options) for the opposition to be able to agree to the match. Once they agree, it can be entered in the campaign module.

It's not too serious, a polyp in the canal from my ear to my nose, combined with a mild infection was causing a buildup in fluid pressure and the headaches. Once the infection is treated, I may have to have a minor operation to remove it, but I'm not dying We'll see how it is in a week.

Any UCSE player out there?
Ben Zwycky replied to Eon Hawk's topic in General Multiplayer Discussions
I can usually be online from 6.30-8pm GMT (13.30-1500 Eastern) any day except Monday. What I do during that time varies, so ask Sho or Eclipse for my IM info and we could arrange to meet up every so often. -
OK, guys, I've been suffering from some major migraines the past couple of weeks, just had an eye exam that came up clean and an x-ray of my head that we'll get the results of on Monday, so I'm having to limit my time in front of the computer. Marc is in charge in the meantime, and with Prez and Jack not communicating, Zane is second in command, Krasus if Zane is unavailable.
-
Congrats, Case! May he fill your lives with as much blessing as my kids do mine.
-
I have been trying to contact Prez by email about it, without success. Have just sent him a PM. Prez, where are you?
-
You'll be in my prayers, just try not to faint

Nothing too much wrong with your writing style IMO. You'll fit into the community very well. Congratulations on reaching a decision [rp] though you're in for a serious hiding [/rp]

The problem is, Hawk, that you're exactly the kind of recruit any fleet would want. I'd recruit you myself, but it'd be dishonest of me to say that we need new people more than the other fleets, our active membership is pretty healthy atm, so I'm going to throw my weight behind Wraith's bid. The charter may look like a lot of rules and regulations, but most of it is describing the fleet's history and structure (in practise, the structure is a lot simpler and more flexible than it seems at first glance, those structures will only become more important when its membership increases.) Those rules that are there should not be viewed as restrictions, but as possibilities, these are all the different ways of getting involved in things the fleet does, and positive activities that the fleet recognises and rewards. As far as promotion goes, in Wraith it doesn't just mean more responsibilities, it also means access to higher levels of classified info and more advanced topics in Wraith's awesome training program. [rp] The Insurgents goal of removing Galcom would not bring peace. They seek not only to dismantle galcom, but also Earthcom and the UFN goverment as a whole, terminating all alliances with alien nations, but this is not practical in our modern times. We need alliances and treaties with other races to survive in this harsh galaxy of ours- without them we become weaker and weaker through mutual distrust and infighting, and those who would take advantage of our disputes with our neighbours. The Insurgents seek to destroy their political opponents through force of arms. Should they succeed, would this policy end, or would they continue to hunt down and 'cleanse' society of all their opponents? History has shown that the vast majority of successful violent revolutions do not bring about peaceful democracies, but anarchy or brutal dictatorships, where power is all that matters. They may even have begun with noble causes or intentions, but once conflict drags on through generations, then violence becomes a way of life and peace an uncomfortable pause. Are we expected to believe that the Insurgency will be different? That is too great a risk for me to take. They say that the UFN is corrupt. I will not deny that there are corrupt individuals in places of power, there are in every system of government, but is it not more reasonable to root out and neutralise corruption wherever we find it (which we try to do) than to destroy the whole system of government itself (a 'cure' that is worse than the complaint)? [/rp] plus Wraith is all about super stealthy secret agent stuff, which makes for great rpstories
